Well, they weren't lying about the Big Wok! Popular place to consume Mongolian yumminess. Some people think that $10 a head ($12 dinner) for all-you-can-eat is expensive. I don't think so because there are fancy all-you-can-eat Korean BBQ restaurants that charge $16 - $21 per person. Also, if you don't feel like 'pigging out', you can purchase the single bowl option. When you go inside, you'll see a large circular island with several cooks. To the left and behind the island are sections of a variety of raw meats, shrimp, diced sausage, tofu, veggies, noodles, as well as different types of sauces and spices. The choice of proteins are raw and thinly sliced: chicken, turkey, beef, pork, and lamb. Now, to some of the people on Yelp and Google who think the food here is bland: PHOOOEY!! I say you just don't know how to construct a dish! There are plenty of vegetables, sauces, and spices to add flavor to your dish people!! After you compose your dish and have it cooked, you can ask one of the waiters/waitresses for rice and sesame bread. The sesame bread is one of my favorite things here because you can tear one side open and stuff some of the food from your plate to create your own Mongolian hot pocket!! You must try it! 🥙

My first time at Big Wok tonight. We were there celebrating my son's 23rd birthday, a Friday night. Food was delicious!! The selection of toppings is wonderful! Just a heads up, we bought the large bowl thinking it wouldn't be that awfully big, but that thing spread out on the platter the cooks put it on and it was so much food! So a lot of people might be good to start with the small bowl first. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because if you do go with the more than one or two people, more often than not someone holds it down at the table, while the others get their food. However the line to get everything prepped and cooked takes a long time, so we ended up eating in shifts. My son and his girlfriend were eating before I could get back. I didn't want their food to get cold so I told them to just eat. That's the only thing that was the bummer. You just have to plan for it ahead of time. Definitely recommend!

HORRIBLE and I am so disappointed!!! Found out yesterday that my long-time Manhattan Beach fave has a sister location in Rancho Cucamonga - only 40 minutes away as opposed to 3 hours (with traffic) to get to MB. Couldn't wait to get there for lunch today and was so pleased and surprised to see that unlike MB this location has shrimp and edamame. Made my selections: chicken, beef, lamb, shrimp, bok choy, cabbage, bean sprouts, mushrooms and spinach. No rice or noodles for me today. Chose the spicy sweet flavoring and was off to hand my bowl to the wok chef. Ate 3/4 of my food and then ate a few edamame and half a pocket biscuit. Not even10 minutes later I was rushing across the restaurant to the restroom and as I leaned over the sink there went my entire lunch into the waste can! Yes, I initially leaned over the commode but tried to avoid the splashback. 😭😭😭 Anyway, once I returned to the table I informed the server of my restroom mishap and cautioned that whomever should be careful while cleaning the waste can. She summoned the cashier/hostess and I neither complained about the food nor requested a refund. I did tell her what I'd eaten as a passing statement and she made a point of stressing to me more than once that "Everyone else is eating shrimp but YOU'RE the ONLY one saying you had a problem!" She offered me some hot water to drink. .. I declined and asked for a mint and she said that location no longer serves mints. She then said she would summon her manager and my daughter, son and I waited for several minutes and no one came. Finally the cashier/hostess returned to the table and stated that her manager was in the back and wouldn't or couldn't come out. She took yet another opportunity to inform me that no one else was having a problem with the shrimp and then asked if I wanted a refund THEN added she would only be able to refund MY lunch. First of all, DUH! Second. I at no time asked for a refund or anything other than a mint and THAT was to rid my mouth of the God awful taste of having literally lost my lunch! I told her to give the refund to my daughter and I walked outside for fresh air. I'd actually enjoyed my lunch until it decided to revisit and I'd told my daughter that after19 years of patronizing the Manhattan Beach location Rancho would be our new Big Wok. NOW??? I'll gladly brave the 3 hours in traffic whenever possible solely because I don't appreciate how Rancho handled matters...

My experience tonight was awful.

My family and I used to frequent this place at least once a week before management changed. Before the ownership changed the place was fantastic. Staff customer relations were amazing and the price was affordable; always a good experience.

After the managment changed the place converted to all you cam eat, a disappointment to my family as we really only manage one plate each. Still we gave it a try as it was our favorite. Every time we come in, maybe once a month now, the price has gone higher and the staff just doesnt seem to care anymore.

Tonight was possibly the worst experience to date. I prepared my plate and watched as they cooked it on the grill. The cook reached for a bowl of sauce and I stopped him trying to tell him it wasn't mine. (I had added a dark sauce similar to soy sauce to mine and the one he grabbed was clear) he told me I was wrong that it was mine. I tried to explain and he ignore me cooking it with the wrong sauce. Sure enough when I sat down to eat I couldn't eat it, it tasted all wrong. I explained this to the waitress and used the all you can eat privilage to make another plate. Not 5 min after I finally sat down to eat after my family, my father sat down explaining that the guy had done the same thing with his second plate.

Customer service aside, that was 2 plates utterly wasted. They cant serve that food to someone else so it went to the trash. Honestly, I'm really sad to see such a good place go down hill so fast. I don't think we will be...
