Avoid this hotel at all costs — worst experience in 15+ years of global travel
I’ve been a frequent traveler for over 15 years, both for work and with my family. As a Genius Level 3 member, I use Booking regularly and stay in hotels at least once a week around the world. Never in all these years have I left a negative review — even in complicated situations, hotel staff have always found ways to resolve issues professionally and respectfully.
Unfortunately, this hotel was an absolute exception — and I’m writing this review to warn other travelers: staying here may completely ruin your trip.
Poor communication before arrival I emailed the hotel on Thursday asking for a baby crib. On Friday, I received a reply saying the responsible staff member was on vacation and was given another email address. I emailed that address as well — and never received any response. This already raised red flags.
Check-in chaos We arrived early on Saturday around 2:00 PM (check-in starts at 4:00 PM), traveling with two small children. I reconfirmed our need for a crib and asked if we could be checked in early if the room became available. The front desk promised to call once the room was ready — they never did.
Eventually, I returned myself and was told the room was ready. However, upon entering it, I was shocked to see that the “Ocean View” room I had paid extra for had a direct view of industrial HVAC and ventilation systems. I’ve attached photos to show the reality.
Management response — indifferent and disrespectful I returned to reception and was passed between several staff members before finally speaking to the manager. Despite check-in only just beginning and rooms still becoming available, he flatly told me that nothing could be done and that all rooms were taken.
When I showed him photos and explained that this clearly wasn’t an Ocean View room, he said: “You booked via Booking.com, not Hilton directly — take your concerns to them.” When I asked him to come up to the room and see for himself, he refused. Then, with a sarcastic tone, he added: “If you step out onto the balcony and lean to the right, you’ll see the ocean — that counts as an Ocean View.”
The room itself — uncomfortable and unacceptable Smelled heavily of cigarettes — the room was clearly smoked in.
Dirty and stained furniture — especially the chair.
No baby crib was ever delivered, despite multiple follow-ups.
Requested toiletry kits (toothbrushes, toothpaste) were never brought — I had to go down and collect them myself.
Air conditioning sounded like a helicopter — loud, constant, and unbearable. Maintenance came four or five times, then gave up, saying nothing could be done.
Only around 10:00 PM, after multiple pleas, a staff member named John finally stepped up. He found another room for us, helped us move, and showed real care. He was the only person in this hotel who showed any professionalism — thank you, John.
Safety and respect — lacking even on the beach Later, we went to the beach with the kids. We left our belongings (including money and credit cards) on a designated hotel beach table. Within 10 minutes, staff threw everything in the sand without asking — because they were “clearing the area.” No warning, no respect — just scattered our personal items in the dirt with zero regard.
Final thoughts This hotel fails at every level — management, service, cleanliness, communication, and basic hospitality. I’ve never had to write a negative review, but I feel a responsibility to warn other travelers not to repeat our mistake. What should have been a relaxing weekend with our children turned into a completely ruined experience.

Read moreReserved a room in early August for a late September three night stay. A week and a half before my arrival, I called to confirm and verify specifications for my stay. I was reassured that I had been assigned a lovely room and balcony. However when I arrived and entered my room, the first thing I saw was water running across the ceiling and down the doors of the closet. I called the front office and they switched me to the room across the hall. Upon entering that room I found it exceptionally cold, the thermostat read 61°! Again, called the front desk. They send up a very nice maintenance man who in rather broken english said he had turned "something" off on the unit in the attic of my room and all should be well from now on. After dinner, I returned to find the room was now a stuffy 76° and decided to just cope with it. Fun fact though, if you open the sliding door for some fresh air, it disables the air conditioner until you close the door. As for my balcony with an ocean view, that was a joke as well. My room looked at the high rise hotel next door and was over the parking lot and the roof of the hotel kitchen. If I looked directly to my right on my two foot wide balcony, I could see a small view of the ocean. As for amenities, the shower came with a rain head but since it was mounted on the side of the shower, the water exited the head and immediately dropped down with very little pressure. It was very difficult to get shampoo and conditioner rinsed out of my hair with such minimal output from the shower head. Then there was the restaurant. The options on the menu were less than a dozen entrees and the prices were outrages for what turned out to be mediocre food at best. There was a hamburger listed for 35.00 and a king crab cluster was 149.00! An "all you can eat" king crab option at a country club near where I live is 18.00 for comparison. A simple breakfast of scrambled eggs, bacon, hashbrowns, and toast was 18.00 and the cheapest as well as the best thing I ate from the restaurant there. There is very little near enough to walk to from the hotel and being disabled that means nothing accessible for me. In trying to get a restaurant to deliver food, I found none did inspite of free delivery listed on their websites. The entire area is strangely very tourist unfriendly in my opinion. The staff was extremely nice and the only plus to this pretentious establishment. There are endless hidden add on fees to the room cost, which appears reasonable at first. The ultimate was having a one hundred dollar a night fee charged to my card in case I used or damaged something in the room during my stay. The price listed per night was a reasonable 171.00 which would be just over 500.00 for three nights. The actual charge was 762.00 after "miscellaneous charges and fees", and that was before the 300.00 damage "usage" charge (which did get refunded a few days after I left). There is a facility selling snacks located just off the lobby but the prices in there are outrageous for anything available! It's completely self serve yet when you are asked to swipe your card (this establishment doesn't accept cash for anything) there are buttons for tipping the cashier who does virtually nothing to assist with any transaction! This is a pretentious, wannabe "resort". It's actually nothing more than a small hotel that overcharges for absolutely everything. I would not recommend this venue nor will I ever return. I gave them two stars simply because most of the staff was so incredibly nice.
In response to the owner, my friend and I stayed at the resort on 9/24,25, and 26/2024 in room 311 after being moved from room 310 due to a leak...
