I felt like I was staying in a cave :(
Good things: Decent restaurant on the premises, with many vegetarian options as well as gluten free options on the menu (each in their own menu section) Several good coffee shops within easy walking distance Many restaurants and bars within easy walking distance Parking available for the duration of my stay for a reasonable fee in a ramp that adjoins the hotel Mini-fridge in room - easy to store leftovers and snacks
For what it's worth, I think I could have had a great experience in this hotel if I'd had a room with a regular window. Unfortunately, I was in a room where the "window" looked out into the hallway and conference area - same level, akin to if you were looking out a patio door - and only had a dim amount of natural light. I had to make a choice between privacy and that small amount of light, and chose privacy and closed my curtain, so it was essentially like nighttime in my room the whole time. Even with the curtain open, there was no way to see the sun or the weather or anything outside.
It was also very poorly ventilated and I could feel a slight dampness in the sheets - like when you go tent camping and wake up to a dewy morning. The damp feeling persisted in the room for my entire 4-night stay. It was pretty miserable. There was some sort of vent/duct in the bathroom ceiling, but it didn't seem to be pulling much into it. No fan to switch on in the bathroom, either.
I like that the hotel is pet-friendly - I travel with my cat - but I never want to stay in one of these rooms again. Also, when I called to book the room, I mentioned to the agent multiple times that I needed a room where a pet is allowed, and she assured me there was a note on my reservation. When I arrived to check in, there was no such note so they were surprised by my requirement of a pet-friendly room. I feel lucky I got a room, but I never in a million years would have picked the one they gave me.
The beds are also extremely soft. Might be comfy for some folks, but I found them difficult...
Read moreIf you love inconvenience, mazes and confusion, this is the place for you, that is, if you can find it, or the parking garage. We drove around the block for at least 15 minutes trying to find it, and the entrance. There are a couple signs, and one way up on a building. The hotel is sort of in the middle of 2 buildings, and nowhere to park, like to unload your luggage in. Once, maybe the marked door on Broadway, you go around to the elevators and go to front desk on the second floor with Crave restaurant. We were on 4th floor and there about 8 floors, or 10. You have to park in the garage ($18. a day), which entails finding it, taking another elevator to your level. You get a card for exit, but billed later. Later, you have to figure out how to get back to the hotel, and more elevators. We ran into workers that helped guide us a couple of times. The room itself was nice, clean, nothing special. It's in an exciting neighborhood, pubs, so-so Thai food, a record store with bands sometimes, a dessert shop, etc. There's a food court inside a building up the street. But, the first few days, we were practically worn out going out, finding the garage, the elevator up to car, and doing it all again coming back. We came on a Wed. and left Sat. Amenities include pod coffee maker, hairdryer and ironing setup. The towels were nice and the tp home-grade. Our view was a vast gravel roof. I think the water there is pretty soft, as it would take awhile to rinse off soap and shampoo. Next time, I'll scout the actual location of a hotel more thoroughly. I would urge more signage outside and DIRECTIONS be sent to every guest on exactly how to get in, where...
Read moreThe hotel is in a good location. But that’s it. You have many other options in basically the same location. I would not recommend the hotel.
I am a Diamond Elite member and have been assigned a room on the 3rd floor. The room was facing the parking garage (8 m) away. This was all I was able to see from my room. It felt like in a prison. The hotel was on low occupancy.
The hallways of the hotel are all dark and depressing. They are not inviting at all.
On check-in I was told that breakfast starts at 7. So, I went down for breakfast at 7 but the restaurant was closed. The receptionist then told me:” They had a party in the restaurant yesterday. They open 1 hour later.” Absolutely unacceptable.
The restaurant bill cannot be charged to your room as the restaurant is independently operated. That’s very smart. A breakfast buffet doesn’t exist. There is only a breakfast menu with a few items on it. All of the options are full of fat and carbs. There are no healthy options, such as fruits, oatmeal, salad, plain yoghurt (without sugar), etc.
The server at breakfast on Sunday was very friendly and polite. The server during the week seemed to be unmotivated and not happy to serve. Only when she presents you the check and it comes the time to tip, she was changing her behavior.
The a/c in the room is as loud as a truck. As it was very cold outside’, you needed it to heat your room. This makes your sleep really bad.
