The design of this high end store is lovely, but customer service in the clothing area is not. Beware, NONE of the clothing can be returned OR EXCHANGED!! This was not made clear to me at the time I picked out a black dress on July 29th. I was looking at both sale and new merchandise and ended up choosing a sale item that needed to have a shirt underneath it. I took it home to try on with a t-shirt underneath and didn't like the way it looked. I admit, I am not the world's best shopper, and when I tried it on at home it was not becoming. I went back the following morning, with my 89 year old mother, who has a good eye, to exchange it for something else. The store would not accept it as a credit toward a more expensive item. My mother was incredulous that they would not credit it toward something else. The store is full of gifts items, so she asked what people did with wedding gifts they wanted to return. The response was that only clothing is not returnable. Although I saw no signs that said I could not make a return, and nothing was said to me when I was shopping, the store clerk said it was printed on the bottom of the receipt. And so it was, in fine print, but of course I got the receipt AFTER I had completed the purchase. So there was no warning that I ought to be 100% sure it would go with other items before buying. This means I should have gone home to get when I might wear it with and come back to try it on. I couldn't believe they would not credit this toward another purchase. So I'm stuck with a dress I won't wear and resent. I'm a frequent visitor to Rochester though I live in Boston, and tend to shop when I'm in Minnesota because I have free time. I have bought things from Counterpoint before, mostly Eileen Fisher, which they have moved upstairs.Their clothing is expensive, and this sleeveless dress was $179 on sale, so I expected they would offer high end service. I am going to stick with Nordstrom after...
Read moreMy mom has been dealing with cancer for 10 years. We have been in Rochester for 7. We eat at Chester's as often as we can - and sometimes go upstairs to enjoy some gelato and a walk around as my amazing mother deserves some fun even on these not so fun doctor visits. My sister-in-law, mom, and I went to look at the Kitchen gadgets - first thing we did was check the door if we couldn't enter with our small cups of gelato - but there were no signs. Then from across the store I was told to leave until I finished mine. It wasn't a rude tone - but was embarrassing... I felt like a child... Hang a sign if you are so worried three adult women can't handle a small cup of gelato... Not even sure how we were going to ruin your kitchen gadgets with this...But yeah...Hang a sign instead of saying it from across your store.............100% lost a sale or three yesterday...And we probably won't return (and we usually do shop there every...
Read moreGreat shop with fun unique items. I’ve been shopping here since the late 90’s-early 2000’s. The other day I was browsing and found an adorable stuffed animal I was going to give as a gift. I was carrying it around as I was finishing up my browsing. Suddenly, the clerk was right next to me, taking the merchandise out of my hand and telling me it would be waiting for me at the counter when I was ready. I felt very uncomfortable with this, as if she wanted to prevent theft by taking it from me. I asked her if they have been struggling with a lot of theft and she told me this is just they way they do it (taking merchandise away from the customer and having it at the counter until the customer is ready to check out). I walked away without buying the item. I went home and purchased it online. I won’t be returning to this store. They have lost a 25-year...
