I will start by saying this hotel is conveniently located close to downtown Rochester and allows for quick and easy travel to just about anywhere you are looking to go in the city. With that said, I fully recommend you just spend the extra 40-80 bucks a night to stay at a different hotel in the area... The reason being:
When we arrived at Centerstone Plaza Hotel and began the check in process, we were told our room would be located in one of the other buildings owned by the property, next to their main building (Don't let all those fancy photos of their lobby and a few select rooms they have plastered all over their website fool you). After checking in, we made our way over to our room in "building 2". We soon found out that it was an old apartment complex that had been rebranded as a hotel add-on. It appeared to still have what I imagine to be most of the original appliances and furnishings, with very little remodeling effort put forth. Still, we were happy to make do at that point in time. However, after waking up the next morning I discovered bed bugs crawling around next to me in the bed, along with itchy bites on my arms. The first (and only) thing I could think of wanting to do after that discovery is take a shower. Unfortunately that endeavor also resulted in immense disappointment. There was no hot water, not even warm water. After calling the front desk to find out why the water was ice cold, I was met with a fairly rude response from the staff on the recieving end. I was told that the water was working fine and the heaters had just been replaced. And then given the advice to let the water run for twenty minutes before taking my shower because it apparently takes time for the warm water to make its way up to the 3rd floor... After 15 minutes the water was still freezing cold, but I was already running late for an engagement--so I took a very quick shower and out the door in 30 degree weather i went. After returning home i contacted management to notify them of their bug infestation, only to, again, be greeted with a rudely toned response and a line of questioning that suggested I was lying about the bug infestation situation and must have been mistaken or making it up. There was no offer of a refund, not even an attempt to try and reconcile the situation. In fact, the manager requested I email them the pictures I had taken of the bugs on the bed, which I did, along with a picture of the bug bites on my daughter's arm. I am yet to receive a response back from management. All anger aside, my only concern here is that they address this serious (and disgusting) problem before placing any other guests in...
Read moreWe stayed at this hotel the weekend of March 30 - April 2, 2017 during NYWA Youth Wrestling tournaments. The only good thing about the hotel was the shuttle service. Our room was alright, I mean since we were only really there to sleep. The pool area of course was filled with children of all ages. There NEVER seemed to be any clean towels, or you had to go to the front desk, which then they would only give 1( I have a family of 6). The entire time I was in the pool area with my children, never once did a see anyone come pick up the dirty towels in the baskets. What gets me is, this is a yearly event, so why would a hotel not be prepared to have towels for guests. Then there's the arcade, several of the machines were out of order, there were signs on them but the kids or someone took them down so they were on the floor, so you did not know which machines were out of order. There was nachos spilled on the floor. It just didn't seem like anyone that worked there didn't cared on the appearance for this weekend, probably because of all the kids. The entire hotel needs a good cleaning, carpets were stained, our toilet barely flushed, we questioned how long before the elevator was going to last.. The breakfast area was always stocked, they didn't seem to let things run out, and if something did run out it was replenished right away, but it was dirty and this could be due to all the people that were in there during breakfast. As for the restaurant, it was not all that. Our food was not seasoned very well. Our 9 year old chewed his steak forever to be able to choke it down. The pork, wasn't all it was raved about on the wording of the menu. Fries were soggy. Our waitress took her sweet time, so our drink glasses(liquor and pop) never seemed to have gotten refilled. A good waitress never lets a customer's glass go empty!!! I learned my lesson as to trying a different hotel, our family will not be returning to this hotel...
Read moreWe rented this place because the surgery I was having at Mayo would not have allowed me to just go out to eat so we chose a room with a full kitchen, my wife would have to make soft food for me. We had a problem with the refrigerator, we were on the ground level (rooms with a kitchen are all outside entrances) and the cement and sidewalks are very uneven and a HUGE trip hazard) all the cabinetry in the bathroom and in the kitchen is made out of cheap particleboard and over the years water has gotten on these and all that does is turn into like a powder and it falls apart. the Wi-Fi wasn’t the best, the tiny garbage can in the kitchen that you have to empty about three times a day. Found four spiders, we found two centipedes, by the way we were in this room for 15 days, teeny tiny bathroom, stained carpeting. most of the employees do not speak English, and that can be frustrating. A lot of the walls are made out of milkboard (like you see in a commercial kitchen because it’s easy to wipe down), they tried to expand the two receptacle outlets in the bedroom by putting in one of those things you plug in and make six outlets. Problem was we found out why our stuff wasn’t working as we were plugging them in because only two out of the six outlets were even working. when you’re gonna have surgery, you don’t want a lot of hassles cause you know you’re not gonna feel good. We went here cause they said they had a oven while the other places with full kitchens just seem to have a cooktop and no oven. Those places look much better and I know they were! We realized we never needed the oven anyhow. again, I don’t know how the regular hotel rooms were here but the rooms with the full kitchens just absolutely need to be GUTTED and redone. If you need a kitchen do not stay here. the only thing I would say is, I had a very low daily rate as I worked through the cancer navigator with Mayo Clinic. I can tell you I got...
