My wife and 18 month old daughter had booked a room here for one night after our daughter was released from the hospital. When I checked in, the desk clerk was in tears, and frazzled, saying something about getting fired the next day after a run in with an unhappy guest. I had booked 1 king room on the Wyndham app, but was told at check in all that was available were two queens. (Not a HUGE deal at this point.) After checking in, we parked our car, and as we were unloading to enter the hotel, someone approached us and asked if we were staying here. After saying yes, they told us "We saw you have a little girl with you and wanted to warn you about this place. We had bed bugs in our room and another room we had was completely destroyed." They showed us pictures of their rooms, which had sheets with several stains on them, hair, a door lock that was destroyed, a lamp shade that had seen much better days, and exposed insulation around the HVAC unit. I had my wife and daughter return to the car while I went up to check out our room.
I was EXTREMELY disappointed at what I found. There was paint peeling off of the walls, and it appeared that whoever had tried to cover it up by painting over it had also splattered paint on the windows as there were dried paint splatters on the windows. I found what appeared to be some type of feces underneath both beds. There were bed bugs on the carpets and bugs in the stool in the bathroom. I did not turn back the sheets, in part, out of fear of what I would find. What I saw was more than enough to make me decide to leave. As I left and wandered the halls for the stairs, I was turned off even more by the inadequate lighting of the hallways, several "Out of order" signs on equipment such as vending machines and ice machines, and room doors that had seen much better days and in some cases had sticker residue on them.
I returned to the front desk, and as I was about to give my keys back, saw some young people bringing bags with them into the hotel, so I warned them of what I found and encouraged them to check their rooms first before bringing stuff up there so they wouldn't bring filth with them when they left. By the time I was at the counter, the night clerk had begun her shift and the other one that had checked me in was about to leave, visibly upset, continuing to talk about probably no longer being employed here. Very calmly, I told the night clerk of the conditions that I encountered in my room, and that such and environment was not acceptable for my daughter, or the rest of us. The clerk at first tried to say "There are bugs downtown making their way in here" and the admitted "Our hotel needs a lot of work and renovation and we have a lot of problems. Another employee who was responsible for maintenance and had just been called in asked for my key card to check out the conditions of my room saying "I completely believe you, I want to see how bad this problem is because we've had a lot of guests leaving over this." The night clerk didn't charge us for the night since we didn't use the room and was very professional and apologetic under the circumstances, and thanked me for treating her like a human being, as apparently others who were upset over the conditions of the hotel were taking out their frustrations on the desk clerks who have little, if any, control over the condition of the property.
After checking in at another hotel a few miles away, my wife told the clerk there about our experience and he shared with her that the Wyndham had been closed for a while because of the horrible conditions there, and that they were still getting complaints common to what we had shared, in addition to having a huge MOLD problem that was never taken care of. He also said the hotel was bankrupt, which explains why it looks like it was half torn up.
They would probably do best to just close this place down, too many health and safety...
Read moreYou get what you paid for. Or you don't I guess. One of us ordered a room with two beds, then when they checked in the front desk they didn't have a room for their reservation available. Instead they got a one bedroom (mind you their married and have two kids) that was scary at best. They said the best they could do to compensate was to bring a rollaway bed to the room and cut the rate. When they got to the room, it had no towels, two MISSING SMOKE DETECTORS, horribly stained toilet, and the lamp didn't have a bulb.
I came the day after and wasn't very impressed myself after seeing their room. It didn't seem very clean and the family had gone out and got a fan to keep themselves cool since the AC didn't work. We left for the day and came back in the afternoon after house keeping had come through. They took all the dirty towels away but never replaced them with clean ones. They also didn't stock the toilet paper. At this time I went to fill my water bottle and noticed the faucet leaks from behind so it gets water all over the counter.
One of the kids and I decided to go to the pool for a while and when we got there it was pretty sad. The boards in the ceiling were rotting out and over all the building didn't look well maintained.
Finally getting my room wasn't too bad. We did end up with what we ordered with two beds but there was only one set of towels so we still had to order some for the morning. Beds were alright, just a bit firm for my taste. Our AC seemed to work though not well.
Breakfast was sad despite being in the restaurant attached. Sausage, eggs, and hash browns we're about all that was there with some bread that didn't fit in the toaster. We decided to go to McDonald's instead.
Not impressed. Not the worst place I've stayed. Not coming back if I...
Read moreThe only reason I'm not giving this hotel a half star is because they had nice Tv's, fairly nice bathrooms, and some Pretty attractive staff members. Now we can get to the bad. For one the place smells awful in the hallways and is dimly lit, felt like I was in an abandoned hospital. The room service was awful, although I never got any for the whole week so maybe I just don't know. Nobody came to the room once. The beds are absolutely awful. Slightly better than the beds at the kahler but still pretty bad. The toilet paper made my butthole bleed. There really wasn't much options at breakfast unless you like carbs, if your trying to be healthy I suggest you go shopping. Hot tub and pool were definitely nice but the building is very run down and makes a lot of sketchy noises. Some of the staff didn't really seem to care about there jobs. Some of the towels we received had blood on them. And if you ask for the room to be vacuumed they will drop of the vacuum and say to bring it back when your done. Also when asked for bedding they just gave it to us and expected us to know how to install it. Had to get new key cards daily as well. Decent hotel, but would never stay there again, others are similar priced and way better service. Not the worst I've been in but...
