Today is Mother's Day, and my family took me to the Columbia Zoo and to eat dinner at one of my favorite restaurants. I routinely visit the Gastonia NC location, but the closest location to us was Rockhill. Parking was easy, not very busy, but we still had a 30 min wait, not bad at all. Our waitress didn't visit the table for another 15 min, so we ordered drinks, appetizers, and food all together when she arrived. Our drinks came out within 5 min. Our appetizers came out in 20 min, still fine. However, when the waitress delivered our appetizers, she kept calling my daughter a boy. My husband corrected her in a very light-hearted and smiling way, and everything was still fine, as this happens often as my 11 yr old is an athlete and built so. I asked for ketchup with the appetizers, the waitress never came, and my daughter had to go get it from another table. Our food was delivered by a food runner, no syrup with pancakes, our waitress never came. No drink refills and cups sitting at the end of the table while I sat not eating and waiting for drinks, but our waitress never came. Everything had to be asked for repeatedly. Boxes. The check. Everything. Even my son asked why she was not coming to our table or even looking at us. So that I did not complain and ruin Mother's Day for my children, I had to step outside, and my husband wrapped up the bill. I do not typically complain about customer service because you just never know the day that someone has had or what they are going through but this lady truly did not seem to care about us at all which is unusual because we usually laugh with our servers, don't ask for much and make pre-bussing easy (which she also did not do at all). I am truly disappointed in Cracker Barrel for allowing this to happen and not having a manager out on the floor ensuring everyone was taken care of or maybe a nice touch would have been to just carry around drink refills themselves. This was the least busy I have seen a restaurant on Mother's Day, and I can truly understand why. Also, so many complain about younger generations not having customer service skills now days, those were the only people smiling while they were serving people on Mother's Day. No service would have been better service than what we received this evening. Please retrain your staff. Several other patrons also seemed to be getting frustrated, and the evening could have ended much differently than unsatisfied customers walking out. Needless to say that the 1.5 hour ride home was in silence. I contacted Customer Relations, but at the end of the day, just stop hiring bodies to serve people and hire people who want to serve people. Work with people during their hardships to attract and retain instead of filling a job with people who don't even get joy out of making others happy on a special day. Cracker Barrel Customer Relations has shown me that my and my families experience is worth ONE COMPLIMENTARY meal. This explains it all.

We had $20 left on a gift card from Christmas so decided to have dinner before getting groceries. We arrived at 5:50pm. No wait for a table. The restaurant was maybe 50% full. We ordered our drinks and an appetizer, those came right out. Loaded steak fries were underwhelming. The fries were good but only part of the cheese was melted. The waitress took our order when she delivered the appetizer. I got chicken and dumplings, hash brown casserole, and broccoli casserole. My partner got the sirloin sampler with chicken strips, broccoli casserole, and baked apples. The only thing that isn't already prepared from that meal is usually the steak and maybe the chicken strips. Our food was finally brought to the table at 6:55pm at which point we went ahead and ordered a piece of cake to go. My sides were great, but I'm not sure what happened to the chicken and dumplings. They looked like someone hadn't bothered to give them time to thicken. Or the chicken was cooked separately from the dumplings since that's a side option and the chicken with broth was just poured over them? I'm not sure. But they weren't good and looked disappointing as well. I tried a few bites but decided it wasn't worth it. We finished in about 10 minutes and waited for the Togo boxes and the cake. Paid the bill - which the cashier was understanding when I said everything was good except the dumplings and took the price of the cake off to make up for it. I've always liked the sides at the cracker barrel but waiting almost an hour for a subpar not even a hot meal for $50 was not worth it.

Today, August 25, 2024, I went to Cracker Barrel for a less than pleasant experience all around. First, walking into the place, the greeting was less than welcoming. No hello, or anything from an older lady who should know better. The first thing heard was did you check in, are you dining in or what? I proceeded to give my name and as I am waiting to be called, I overhear a younger employee counseling her about the way she greets ppl. She mentioned that she should say, welcome to Cracker Barrel, how may I help you. I laughed and walked away and get called to be seated. The art of customer service is lost and that wasn’t the end of it all. We sat down and my son ordered regular chocolate milk. My son gets the milk and said it tasted funny. THE MIILK WAS EXPIRED TWO DAYS AGO. You all need to get your stuff together. We don’t pay for crappy service or expired food. We are NOT going back to your establishment. We left and went to @PaneraBread where we had better service and the food served wasn’t expired.

4 years ago this was my review! Food good is always good. Service is spot on. TODAY!! 11/14/23, this is being changed!! There were SO MANY THINGS THAT WENT WRONG! My family would make it out to CB once a week! Well, after tonight, I don't see us going back again! That is for EVERY CB in the USA! It is from the top, (corporate) all the way down to (cooks, servers and hosts). They are obviously not trained properly! I ordered a loaded sweet potato and a loaded potato! The rest of my family ordered normal meals. My husband's meatloaf looked more like it was made out of HASH!! Very blood pink looking! Not the same thing my husband has ordered for years! My order didn't get to my table until 15 minutes after the rest of my party had been served!! I ask our server about my order. She tells me it should be coming out anytime! I watched her go to the back. Due to my seat, I have a pretty good birds eye view of that back! She turned to the right side of the back and I couldn't see her! 10 minutes go by and she is back in my view. I see she has my potatoes! She is adding the "loaded" parts! She brings it to me and it was a very big disappointment!! Both potatoes were cool! As in temperature cool! The marshmallow that was added into the sweet potato was a cold glop! The sweet potato itself was undercooked! Like HARD in area's!! The baked potato, was NOT warm in any way shape or form!! She had added a scoop of cold butter to it! It was rubbery. Like it had been microwaved! I asked the server to come back to the table. I explained that both items were cold! And that when you put cold butter into a hot potato, it helps the butter melt! She informs me that their potatoes are kept in the fridge and microwaved for orders!! If that is true? Shame on CB for allowing that to be the norm!! She offered to take it back and MICROWAVE it a little bit longer for me!.👀👀 NO! NO! NO! I've always gotten potatoes from CB that were BAKED!! Microwave potatoes taste like rubber! It's disgusting! Add to that it's cold; and it's a disaster! At this point, I just sent it back and asked for it to be taken off my bill!! If I had laid eyes on a manager, I would have had so much more to add to this!! I don't know what happened to CB but since Covid, it has not been the same! The service at ALL of them has been extremely slow!! Employees are NOT happy to be THERE!! If corporate would like to keep their business open, I have some suggestions! I would be more than happy to sit down with your team to teach them team-building techniques!! Because it is blatantly obvious that, that IS NOT taught! Our server never came back to see if any of our drinks needed to be topped off!!! My husband wanted "sweet tea". They told us they didn't have any! Say what?? We are in the South! Sweet tea is only a batch away! Like I said, we will NOT be stopping by anymore CB! Neither will my family and a good majority of my friends! Until things improve, don't waste your time! You are way more valuable!...

Where I live, the Cracker Barrel is on-point with pretty much everything. However, the Rock Hill francise is lacking, very lacking and has for some time. I/we travel along I-77 frequently and if we dont decide to go on to Wytheville, Va, we will definately stop in Rock Hill, SC at the CB. On this occasion, the service had finally hit the bottom. We waited for nearly 20 minutes (17:45) for a server to come to our table for our order. Afterwards, we were brought a bread basket and drinks and I ultimately had to resort to spreading butter on the bread with a pocket knife and use my handkerchief for a napkin, after another 11:00 minutes passed, looking at the bread with no silverware or napkins - I thought surely the server would return with these necessary items, but no.......and short of yelling or going into the kitchen, I could not get a servers attention. Finally, a server came over to the adjacent empty table to start bussing and I asked if there was a manager here and she said yes and she would get them for me. The manager approaches and I start to tell her our situation and she says she cant tell if I am serious or joking or maybe a little of both(?????????). At this point, another member of my party begins to explain, as coincidentally our food order arrives. This original server still does not notice we have no silverware and or napkins and really seemed oblivious to the whole situation. I do not blame the server for any of this fiasco, I blame the management for poor training or poor evaluation of supposed trained employees. I do not believe the server truly knew the steps to taking the order, delivering the bread/drinks and silverware/napkins and then the food and visiting the table periodically to check on customer(s). One thing lacking here is the management where I live visits the dining room frequently and asks if the customer(s) need anything. None of this would have occured if this manager...
