When we arrived the front staff were unfriendly. Checking us in was a chore. |We arrive to the room, walking down a hallway of nasty stain-covered carpet and rips and tears, only to arrive in a room with a television that is not working and the water flow is barely existent. ||My husband and I dropped off our cat in the room after a 5 hour drive, fed her and then left to feed ourselves. When we returned, just two and a half hours after arriving and checking in, I went to lay my head down and discovered the pillowcase has a blood stain on it. I had my husband take it down to the front desk and tell them we wanted a refund and to check out. ||The staff were rude and told us the manager will not be in until morning and a refund is very unlikely. ||So my husband came back up and we tried finding a new hotel to stay at for the night only to find out that they were all booked for the evening. ||I took all the sheets, pillowcases, and comforter off of the bed and asked my husband to get us new ones. While down there another couple had a huge blood stain on their bedding as well. Now when I worked in a hotel that was absolutely unacceptable, stained things get tossed if it doesn't come out in the wash. Also, my manager was always available to me if I needed. ||When we requested to have the tv looked at, they said "the repairman isn't in, you'll have to call in the morning." No alternative options were even offered. |The staff should have offered us new bedding when my husband first went down with the stained pillowcase to make our stay more comfortable. They made no attempt to fix any issue, and were seemingly totally fine with having guests so mad that they would rather leave and risk taking a loss on their expenses than stay in the hotel any longer.||Also, this "pet-friendly" hotel will not allow you to leave the premises without your pet. Our cat is quiet and well trained, no louder than the teenagers screaming and shouting in the pool area below us. There's no point in being a pet friendly hotel if you can't leave your pet in the room. Most attractions don't allow pets so that's the whole point in keeping them in the hotel.||The shampoo and body wash are nice, and the vanity mirror is great. Some decent artwork in the room, but not nice enough to have made this nightmare experience worth it.||This is the worst hotel experience we have ever had...
Read moreThere's a lot of things that make a stay away from home comfortable or uncomfortable and they add up quick. This hotel fails at the very most important one which is providing a decent bed to get a good nights rest in. I think they are trying to bring back water bed craze with mattresses so broken they sink in and yet sway side to side at the same time. After a fitful night of sleep I asked if they had a room with a better bed and was given another room with a better bed but still just barely comfortable. (I do appreciate the room change however it still was not that great)
Pro - Hot Water with Good Water Pressure Con - Water is Boiling Hot don't get scalded!
Pro - Clean Bathrooms Con - Peeling Paint
Pro- Complimentary Breakfast Con - Run out of items, Fruit is oddly individually saran wrapped (Regulation?) and still rotten. Coffee is like water with a sprinkle of coffee grounds in it for light flavor.
Pro - Pool!! Con - So small why bother? Entire lobby Reeks of Chlorine and the smell wafts up to the 4th floor!
Pro - Location next to Cracker Barrel Con - Also next to a truck depot. I don't know about you but I just Love the sound of idling deisel engines at 5 am and the beeping of them backing up!
Pro - Furniture for relaxing in. Con - FILTHY and BROKEN . Carpets are old and never been replaced. Can't imagine the filth in them.
Pro - Elevator! Con - Tiny, jerky, and smells like a boys junior high locker room. How much could it cost to replace a 3 x 4 ft carpet and wash down the walls??!?
Pro - Non-smoking Con - Not really. On the 4th floor we were in a non-smoking room but other rooms were obviously smoking rooms. Our room reeked of smoke which did havoc on our allergies. The carpet and furniture need to be entirely replaced in any room marked as non-smoking.
The other big RED FLAG about this hotel is that when you check in and sign for the room . They have a big red custom stamp that says something along the lines of "If you are asked to leave because you disturb other guests due to noise you still must pay for your room." This obviously isn't Baymont Inn Standard Protocol since its a specialty stamp. And exactly how big of an issue is this, do I want to...
Read moreIt's a hotel, plain and simple. Our situation - traveled from central Illinois the morning of, went to a competition for two kids, arrived at the hotel around 1:15pm. My wife was told there were absolutely NO rooms available for check-in - nothing clean and ready. When I asked, about an hour later, just waiting in the car with the kids, was told the same thing, with more detail. Allegedly the main housekeeper inspects every room before they are "released" to the system for guest check-in. Never heard of that before but maybe that's just another thing "unique" about this hotel. Another - their restrictive use of the pool, mentioned by others as well. Your use has to be scheduled and is limited to 50 minutes. If you have a family with kids and using a hotel pool is normal part of your hotel-stay experience, beware.
During breakfast the next morning, the breakfast area was full, which aligns with what staff claimed from the night before. Given there were many many families with kids staying, there was a severe lack of seating. It appeared half or more of the chairs that should be at the tables were gone, forcing people to either huddle around a table and try to eat, take your food to your room, or juggle chairs with other families. We swapped with other folks no fewer than 3 times. I gave up my seat to a mom trying to eat a waffle standing over the table.
Have you ever taken a shower at a hotel and not had hot water? You certainly can here. Quite the experience. A new one to me in fact. I feel I've stayed at even cheaper hotels that NEVER ran out of hot water. Maybe the hot water is rationed along side the pool use, dining chairs and ICE. Yes ice. Beware the signs that tell you NOT to fill your cooler from the ice machine.
I can't recall the last time we ran into so many stupid/petty/inconvenient/down-right poorly-administered aspects of a hotel stay.
Next to the Interstate, check. Next to a gas station, check. Close to restaurant options, check. Like anything else, we all have different expectations. Maybe someone else is simply okay knowing they won't get shot in the hallway....by the housekeeping lead. She's busy "releasing" rooms...
