Wish I had just left and demanded a refund, but I was stuck in a snowstorm and had no choice for pet-friendly hotels.
At checkin, you're given a long list of rules to acknowledge and sign - no drugs, no parties, no criminal activities, how many warnings until the cops are called, etc - and this should have clued me into the kind of clientele frequenting this establishment. How many times does the above have to happen in order for a business to make initialing every item on that list a step in the checkin process?
As I got to my room, I noticed marks on the door, where it had apparently been previously clawed open by a crowbar. Classy.
The smell of cleaner/fumigator in the room was overpowering, to the point where it made me dizzy and my pets kept sneezing.
The carpet was disgusting. There's a layer of some kind of powder cleaner that has become musty and sticky and clings to everything. Of course, my pets rolled around on it, and their fur became disgusting, so I had to wipe them down with baby wipes before we hit the road. There were spots of cleaner (what I hope was cleaner, anyway) gunked into the floor, and huge rips everywhere. One hopes this was a pet-friendly cleaner, given this was a pet-friendly room...
The couch in the "living room" area of the room looks like a crime scene itself. I didn't go near it. Completely covered in stains and falling apart.
The shower didn't drain, and the water never got hot, so I couldn't even shower off the gross feeling of just being in the room and breathing that air.
And the fridge wasn't cold, so now I'm afraid to eat my leftovers. Don't want to add food poisoning to the list of terrible experiences here.
The only positive is that the bedsheets smelled and looked clean, although they are threadbare. So we were able to sleep... for a couple of hours. Until the neighbors started screaming and throwing things and making a ton of noise overhead. Did they not have to initial the list of rules? Guess they had two warnings before the cops came 🙄
Voting with my dollar and never staying at a LaQuinta again, or any Wyndham-owned property. I suggest you do the same and let this terrible place know that you only patron clean and safe...
Read moreThis place COULD be a really nice hotel. It's clean and nicely decorated from the lobby to the rooms. The beds are very comfortable, the ac unit works well and is not noisy. The pool area was well stocked and clean. The breakfast area had a good selection. So overall it's a decent place to crash for the night. However there seems to be some lack of experience or other issue happening with staff. I called the front desk because my toilet wouldn't flush properly it would fill with water and then about a minute later it would drain with a little gurgle. I was told I could come to the front desk for a plunger (as in DIY) he wasn't being rude, I got the impression he really thought that it's totally expected that the paying guest should fix the toilet. At my hesitation he offered to have the plunger brought up to me, so yeah I plunged the hotel toilet about 30 minutes after checking in (I am not a plumber) the toilet continued to have the same issue because a plunger does not fix that issue. Also the breakfast area could have been organized better. All the plates, bowls, cups, and silverware were all placed in the corner between coffee and other stuff so there is an awkward bottleneck where everyone is trying to get a plate while not bumping people trying to get coffee. Putting plates and cups next to the food and drinks they are used for would help ease that congestion. And lastly, there was the awkward 5 minutes waiting to check out while the manager or whoever stood in the back room yelling at staff. Obviously there needs to be more communication about expectations and probably more training as well but I'm not sure that's the way to do it. So that's why I think this hotel COULD get a five star rating if they're willing to do some work reorganizing and...
Read moreI highly recommended La Quinta to my fiancé because I stayed at one several years ago and was very impressed. This time staying I was embarrassed by saying we should stay here. We stayed at the one off Walton st in Rockford, Ill. The lobby looked really nice and clean but service was just eh and not so nice but I overlooked it because I really like the one I stayed at in Firt Meyers and we were tired with 2 kids from traveling 9 hours. We got inside and the hallways were very dirty looking. Then got to our room and unpacked. First of all, who puts the bathroom sink outside the door of the bathroom? That is just nasty. Basically every person who has used that bathroom and came out touched their nasty hands on the light switch, door knob, bathroom sink and worse if they didn't wash and we're in a pandemic, yuck. Our door lock was flimsy and jiggled and didn't lock so we used the bolt up top. So we go to bed and are laying there and we could hear people outside as if they were litterally in our room. Our toilet ran all night and the mini fridge squealed and woke me up often. The beds are like sleeping on boards, pillows are hard I barley slept to be honest nor did my fiancé. I just feel dirty, really. Both electrical sockets on the nightstand next to the bed didn't work, I needed to shower but decided not to because the shower looked dirty with soap scum all around the shower handle, build up of dirt along the calking of the bathtub, the hard flooring was sticky and the only soap given was one bar we needed to wash our hands. I'm sorry but I'm extremely hesitant to stay at another La quinta anywhere because of this experience. The only thing good I can say is the breakfast was not too bad and the kitchen staff...
