I've been traveling a lot to different parts of the country over the past year, and thus far have not been disappointed in any hotels during any of my stays. However, this Comfort Inn is probably the first to earn the distinction of being a really disappointing stay.
The staff all seemed friendly, helpful, and like they were trying their best. From the moment I checked in to the moment I checked out, they were the diamond in what is a pretty rough hotel.
I checked in and was given a room key after a short wait. I apparently checked in during a busy moment when a few other guests were visiting the front desk. The couple in front of me checked in as well and left. As the receptionist was checking me in, they came back to complain that their room had not been cleaned, and another receptionist apologized and offered to move them to another room. I grabbed my bag and headed up to my own room to find it hadn't been cleaned yet either, and smelled like someone had been smoking in it. I returned to the front desk to explain the situation, and was apologized to as well; they would send someone straight up to clean it now. I went to dinner.
When I returned about an hour later, the receptionist told me that my room was ready for me now as I passed the front desk. Sure enough, my room had been cleaned, but it definitely tinged how I viewed my stay from then on out. The accommodations are probably on par for other hotels in the price range, but it's really beginning to feel dated. The carpeting looks like it may be past due, especially in some high traffic areas like the stairwells. There is a weird dichotomy between the front desk and the breakfast area that share the same front area. The front desk area looks like it may have been recently updated, but other parts of the hotel feel perhaps neglected or definitely like they should be next on the list of things to remodel. I'm also almost completely positive that my hotel room was previously a smoking room, and while the first day when they had to urgently clean my room for my arrival they sprayed it down with febreeze or something, by the second night it had worn off and I was left to wake up and sleep in a room that smelled of stale cigarettes. I would reason to bet that the room may need to be stripped down to get the smell out of it, and I'd personally urge hotel management to really consider investing in the property to make it an overall nicer hotel to stay at, given there are probably at least a dozen other hotels or more all within walking distance of their front lobby.
Overall, kind of disappointed that such friendly staff are stuck working in a hotel that really should be a lot better of a stay than it was. Hopefully things improve in the future, and while I wish them all the best, I don't think I'd come back...
Read moreIf I could give 0 stars, I would. I have never met a more inept, uncaring, and reckless staff in a hotel in my life. My family and I (wife and 5YO w/ Autism) are staying here while work is being done to our house. A total of 5 nights. On my way out this morning, I was informed that they would be entering my room the next day at around 10am to replace the window (they are replacing all of them). This is no problem because I can plan accordingly and check for anything my son could get into knowing they were doing work. The issue is they decided to do the work this afternoon instead without saying anything about the change. No phone call, no note, no nothing. The issue is the caulk around the window is still wet. Once again we were told nothing about them doing the work today. Our 5 YO son was arranging his toys on the window sill and discovered the caulk was wet (while I was in the bathroom). When I got out, it was all over his clothes, in his hair, and worst of all smeared across his lips. If you didn't know, caulk is not exactly safe to ingest obviously. After getting my son cleaned up and waiting for my wife to get here from work, I went to say something to the front desk. When I asked why they would enter my room and do such work without saying anything or even leaving a not, the guy looked at me and said "we tried to call the room and you didn't answer". When I asked why no one tried to call me or my wife (they have both phone numbers), he just repeated "we tried to call the room and you didn't answer". I then asked if the hotel would cover the bill if my son ends up sick from getting caulk in his mouth, he smiled. This man literally smiled at me and said nothing. Now we are stuck in a room that smells like paint and wet caulk (apparently there are no empty rooms they didn't do the same work in) trying to get an autistic child to not do the routine he's comfortable with (parents with ASD children will understand) and keeping a close eye on him to make sure he isn't getting sick. I will be contacting both choice hotels and hotels.com regarding this. My wife has already filed a complaint with the counties health department for the staff and hotels reckless endangerment and will file another one against the contractor who did the work as soon as I find out the companies name. I stay in hotels at least once a month for work and have done so for over a decade and this is by far the most reckless thing I have ever...
Read moreI DO NOT recommend this place. My husband had broke down on the toll road around 1am after much deliberation we decided I would use our points to book him a room for the night so he could just chill a bit then tackle getting back on the road after some rest. I booked the room on choice hotel app and confirmed reservation. Then I realized that although it was technically Thursday they wouldn't allow check in until 3pm. So I called the hotel and asked if they could help me fix the problem and allow my husband to check in. Not only did he tell me he couldn't/wouldn't do anything (mind you I am the highest status member you can have with choice hotels) but he also told me they would not recognize my member status and I would need to pay the $250 incidental deposit besides! Although I didn't have the money nor did I agree to paying this he also informs me that at this point my points won't be reimbursed because I'm past the cancellation time frame and the reservation needs to be in my husband's name and he has to have the credit card for incidentals in his name also. I said what can you do, he tells me to have my husband come in as a walk in and will "try" to at least credit my point account for the night I woul have to pay for in cash! Including the $250 deposit for incidentals. At this time it's 3am I'm upset my husband is stuck on the side of the road I have over 40,000 points for free rooms but they won't recognize or even fulfill the current reservation I have made. So I called customer service. The rep was awesome and he fixed the check in time for me and smooths over some other things but he comes back on the line after a VERY long hold and says the the hotel wants a $250 deposit for incidentals and doesn't care about my status or credibility. So I ask if he has any other hotels in the area he could get my husband into and less than a block away he finds a room for him. No ridiculous deposit, no crazy rules or issues and he cancelled the first reservation credited me my points the made new reservations at the other hotel. I'm not sure how an establishment that is open purely for travelers to lodge but yet make it next to impossible for a troubled traveler to even make the reservation. So if you want a hassle have at it but honestly the Sleep Inn was way better and NO...
