I am a young , disabled woman traveling alone with a service animal . Man at desk demanded paperwork (which federal law states does not exist for a service animal ) and was very disrespectful and rude to me. Tried to explain the “paperwork” others had shown to him was not legitimate, there is no actual paperwork required for a dog to be a service dog and to be granted access. Tried to show him the FEDERAL LAW that says so and he refused to let me finish a sentence or look at my phone with the laws pulled up . I called and Had a deputy on the way from the police department . He Was Incredibly rude and unprofessional towards me and I told him he was being very disrespectful . Raised his voice over and over and I finally shouted back once that he needed to speak to me more respectfully and he seemed very surprised and lowered his voice for a minute. Put his hand in my face multiple times to shush me while I was explaining the rights I have as a person with a disability. Told me he had “pit bulls in here trying to attack people” and if he would have let me finish one single sentence he would know that according to the ADA if a service dog is not behaving appropriately a business is allowed to ask the animal be removed . My service animal is professionally trained and a model citizen as well as a legitimate service animal, task trained to help with my disabilities . I finally had him cancel my week long reservation and handed him an ADA bifold card about the laws regarding service dogs and he followed me out to my car to continue to berate me . Awful terrible service would not recommend anyone stay here .
Edited to add owner response and to add that the two legal service animal questions were NOT asked when I arrived, in fact I tried to explain to the man that there were exactly two things he could ask and he not only refused to hear me but still then demanded the “paperwork” . I also called the police department BEFORE LEAVING to tell them not to have the deputy come out as it had been 20 min , I was no longer going to stay there and my card was taken out of the system. They said they would make a note of things and to to call back if needed. I was never asked to stay by the man .
Owner responded : “ As the manager of Pioneer Inn, we take guest experiences seriously and strive to maintain a welcoming environment for all. Regarding her recent visit with her animal, we adhered to federal guidelines by asking the two permissible questions upon her arrival. The questions were , " Is this a service dog?" and "What is it trained to do for you?". These questions, which are completely legal to ask, seemed to upset her.
Despite our efforts to clarify our policy, she became increasingly confrontational and opted to involve law enforcement. She called the police and left before their arrival, despite our request for her to wait. We were more then willing to comply with the law enforcement's instructions upon their arrival.
While we accommodate guests with service animals, we prioritize maintaining a respectful atmosphere for all visitors. Any disruptive behavior that could impact the experience of other guests is...
Read moreI stayed here for 2 nights and 3 days with my daughter. The location couldn't have been better for us. We were in town for a cheer competition at the expo center next door. The beds were incredibly comfortable. The inn still smells brand new. The staff is friendly and welcoming. If you are a light sleeper, this might affect your stay, you will hear the neighboring guests talk, their tv and even their snores! A few things not in the room are a coffee maker, tissue box, or luggage stand but neither of those is a deal breaker. There is plenty of storage and the refrigerator is the biggest from any hotel/inn I have ever stayed at and a plus is that there is a microwave! Plenty of towels in the bathroom and a wall caddy with the essentials; shampoo, conditioner and shower gel. You won't find any of those tiny hospitality bottles! There are also no usb ports except for one at the back of the Samsung tv, which was plenty for us. Our bathroom door handle was on backwards, so we were unable to lock it from the inside of the bathroom, only from the room side, it gave us a good laugh. The location is great, gas station next door, the expo center in walking distance, and some dinning, Yesteryear and shopping a short drive away. Stayed...
Read moreWow! Let me tell you! I am a Pastor the pastors a thriving church in the Orlando/Apopka, Fl area, and I needed a place to stay while I am in West Palm/Royal Palm, Fl area, for a mini getaway and sabbatical. I went to Pioneer Inn almost out of desperation, because the previous hotel that I had originally booked at another place was not welcoming and dirty. But when I drove and found Pioneer Inn, I was immediately greeted with warmth, and a great welcome by the manager, Paul. Paul showed me a room that he had available and right on the spot. I was able to switch my previous reservation and come to Pioneer Inn. Paul was and is incredibly kind. The rooms are immaculate and very very clean. The hospitality by the front desk, and all the workers are exceptional! You could truly feel that they truly care for you as a person and not just another number. From now on, every time I come to West Palm/Royal Palm area for a vacation, there’s no other place I would rather stay than Pioneer Inn! It’s that good! I highly highly recommend Pioneer Inn for your stay while in Royal Palm, Fl area. What a hidden Gem. You won’t be disappointed! God...
