Anaheim Jacks — Restaurant in Ruidoso

My wife and I camp in Ruidoso every year, so we've dined here a few times. The Bad: I tried the green chile cheeseburger, which is supposed to have Hatch chile on it, and it was not good at all. The burger was small, dry, and only fair tasting. The green chile tasted like watered-down mild chile from a can. Some background on me... I'm from Albuquerque, and I've been eating hot chile all my life. The chile on this burger just plain sucked. We also tried the fried green chile strips, and that was even worse. It tasted like the green chiles were pickled. We each took 1 bite and tossed the rest. The Good: The chicken wings are big and crunchy. And all of the sauce are really good. I particularly like the Chipotle BBQ sauce... sweet, with a little heat. Now for the best thing on the menu... the tater tots. In 4 visits, they've been exactly the same every time: light golden brown and crunchy on the outside, and soft on the inside. And they're season nicely. The Ugly: The wait staff loves to text on their phones instead of tending to customers, and they are generally not friendly; and good luck trying to get their attention. This was last night's experience; but it also defines our past visits. We also asked the bartender if she could put the sound on for the football game, and she said she would ask. We saw her ask the manager, and he shook his head no. So we instead got to listen to music. I don't understand why they wouldn't put the sound on for the game, since they do that on the weekends when college and pro football is on TV. The worst part is, nobody had the balls to come over and tell us why not. ...

Dry and tasteless food. I don’t understand why this place has such a high rating. Sure the place is quaint and relaxing. The service is average but the fries were limp, the chicken was dried out and the hamburger patty was thick but tasteless and dry, the bun was thick-dense and dry. I needed a refill of my Pepsi but the waitress never asked nor initiated a refill. I was afraid to ask, because I might have been charged extra. The waitress was in our face while trying to eat, but seemed to disappear when we were finished. We sat for 15 minutes before we walked to the front desk and said we would like to pay. The two young girls told us we had to pay at the table. My wife said we would pay here. The two girls were giggling while talking to a boy on their phone, they really didn’t want to be interrupted by us. Thankfully the waitress hurried over and we gave her cash. She had to walk away to get change and when she returned after another extended amount of time, the smallest bills were tens. This type of presumption irritated my wife. My wife asked if we could get two fives. The waitress stated she would see what she could do and left again, only to immediately return with a five and five ones. I wouldn’t recommend this place for the food but for the ambiance and a cold drink, but don’t expect a free refill and expect young giggly hostesses on...

This is our favorite place to eat, the food is great and I’m really upset to have to post this. Today we had the worst experience, Jessica H was so rude. I asked 3 times for lemons, never brought them. Asked her a fourth time with an eye roll and she finally brought them. She handed us the bill and said we were a large party which gratuity was included for $20. I asked for 3 ranches and she said I’ll bring 4, and charged us $1 each for all 4. Then I asked if we could please have to go cups of our drinks and this is where the attitude started. She let me know, no one has ever asked for that but I guess I can bring them. She said which drinks do you want. I let her know I wanted the drinks we ordered since she never brought us refills. She said you didn’t ask for refills, If you see all of our drinks are empty, being a server this should be no question. She then started talking back and being really disrespectful talking down to me. She walked away and then proceeded to tell her co workers how we asked for drinks to go and talking bad about us as my husband went to go to talk a manger to let them know how she treated us he heard her. No way should this be okay. We are beyond upset and disappointed. There was no reason for any of this to happen. But when gratuity is included, some servers think they can just treat us anyway...
