My family of five stayed here over the Fourth of July weekend. We were traveling with our daughter, son in law, and granddaughter from out of state. We were going to stay at the hotel for three nights while showing them nearby attractions. We checked in on Friday evening. Our nightmare began about 11:00 Friday night. BED BUGS! My son in law quickly captured a few in a plastic cup and headed down to the front desk. In the meantime, I was packing up, freaking out, and trying to find another hotel. All hotels in the area were fully booked so we had no other option but to continue our stay. They did allow us to change to another room but it was about 2 AM before we were moved and once again in bed. Needless to say, that did put a damper on the next days planned activities. Heading out the next day, I stopped at the front desk to talk to the manager. I was told that he came in at 11:00 and would call me. I never received a call. Late that afternoon, I called the hotel and spoke to Nick. I explained how upset I was about this and felt that my stay should be comped due to the fact that I now was dealing with a bed bug infestation. Upon returning home, I would need to disinfect my clothes, pillows, blankets and vehicle. My daughter and son in law would need to purchase a new suitcase as they would be flying home and not able to follow the recommended steps to disinfect their luggage. Nick said he was authorized to comp our first night but would need to talk to his general manager before comping the other two nights. He would get back with us. Once again, we never heard from anyone. Upon checking out on Monday morning, we encountered Jerry, I believe he may have been the general manager. He said that he wasn't aware there was a problem. He agreed to comp our first night but really not offering anything else. After expressing great displeasure with our experience he said " I'll tell you what, how bout we split the difference"? He would comp two nights and we would pay $200 for one night. I was not happy, he seemed to not care about the situation I was now in due to a problem at his hotel. Bringing home a bed bug infestation to my home could end up costing me hundreds if not thousands of dollars. I am now back home washing numerous loads of laundry, steam cleaning suitcases, and bagging items up to sit in the hot sun for days. If Jerry had acted concerned, comped our stay and apologized for this inconvenience this would be a different review. Most concerning, when asked if he placed another guest in room 305, he could not reassure us that he did not. Shame on Hampton Inn for their handling of...
Read moreI used to work at a Hampton years ago, & this brand new one is gigantic & STUNNING.
The sulfate (etc) - free shampoo, conditioner, bodywash & lotion they provide is amazing. And every single thing is so clean. I remember from when I worked at mine, the protocol to literally get down on your knees to look for any stray hair on the bathroom floor after it's been cleaned...Hampton takes cleanliness very seriously. The beds are comfy & don't just have a thin blanket on top of a sheet like most hotels (what's up with that anyway?), it's almost a full duvet, which adds cozy comfort without being too heavy.
My friend locked the key in the car the next day (oops!), & they gave us as long as we needed to check out - 1pm by the time a locksmith got the key out - without charging us, which helped with all that stress so much! They were also genuinely kind about it, which was a welcome change. That was our 3rd night in a hotel in a row because we're moving across multiple states. The hotel we were at the night before (not a Hampton), wanted to charge us for a late checkout - just 12pm, nothing crazy - & the front desk person was extremely cranky for no reason. So a friendly, calm, sane person who genuinely understood our needs was such a relief, haha.
The location is right by a lot of public transportation, so not the safest to walk around. But the hotel's property is gated (use your keyboard to enter & exit), well lit & I felt safe getting things out of my car alone at night...wouldn't recommend doing that if you can avoid it of course, but still.
I always have the easiest, safest, cleanest stay at any Hampton, but this one is my new favorite by far. Definitely worth the pricier stay if you...
Read moreThis hotel was one nasty mistake away from receiving a 5 star review. The room looks nice, doesn't look outdated, the bed was comfortable, and the bathroom had a nice, large walk-in shower with good water pressure. I was really happy with the hot included with the room that offered bacon, southwest style omelets, diced potatoes, and waffles with a huge selection of toppings. They also have to-go breakfast bags available for free at the front desk if you are in a hurry that have an apple, muffin, Nutri-Grain bar, and a Clif protein bar in them. So, why am I only leaving a 2 star review after listing all those positive things about the hotel and my room? When I walked into my room after checking in it smelled like I walked into a Subway. It was so strong that I knew it had to be coming from somewhere in the room. It didn't take long to find the old, stale, half eaten Subway sub that was left in the fridge by a previous guest. I took it out, sat it in the hallway to get the source of the smell out of the room, and called to tell the front desk what I found and asked them to please come get it. I know it's something minor that was overlooked by housekeeping and we all make mistakes, but after finally getting to my room after a flight from the east coast the last thing I wanted to do was walk into a room that smelled like a Subway- one of the worst smells known to man! That's not a smell that instantly goes away so I was really glad when I finally realized that I didn't smell the old rotten sub smell in my...
