Somehow the loft never showed up in my hotel searches as I planned our annual stay in St Augustine for our anniversary. But this time, there it was, and it really caught my attention. Seemed unique, eclectic, centric and not only super spacious but reviewers mentioned its cleanliness. So after reading all the reviews I booked the second floor loft and hoped for the best. When I told my husband I didn't book a hotel room per se and it wasn't an airb&b either, he was a bit worried. I just crossed my fingers looking forward to our arrival date. And even before we arrived in town, the positive vibe from The Loft owners was manifested in the form of a call to verify our arrival time. We loved it! And as we pulled over at the corner, Michael was waiting for us to show us where and how to park. Priceless! Check in was unique and a delight. But once we walked up the stairs and the owners showed us the Loft it was love at first sight. Great floorplan, old world flair and a feeling of being home. The second floor loft has a balcony, a vanity area , sitting area, living room section, and a small fridge and microwave. The coffee maker was a welcome sight and I brewed a quick cup in the morning before venturing out into the old city for real food and adventures. We slept incredibly well and felt rested in the morning after logging thousands of steps during our twice a day outings. This place is literally steps from the Castillo de San Marcos and the City Gates. We only hopped in the car to visit the beach and venture out of the area, but there is no need for a car once you check in. If you enjoy an out of the ordinary lodging experience with true local flavor then this is the place for you.We plan on returnig for the festival of lights and might book the first floor loft so we can experienced both units. If you are still thinking about booking The Loft at Menorcan Square... go ahead and do it!! You will be pleased with...
Read moreI have been vacationing in this city since I was a child and I must say this is by far the best place to stay. I would highly recommend. We couldn't have asked for a better location. You can park your car right in front and never have to drive again. It's less than 5 Min walk to the old city gates or you can walk thru a quaint neighborhood to get to the back side of the Castillo. The space is huge and had a king size bed, refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker, kitchen table, vanity sitting area, and bathroom has a vintage deep claw foot tub, central a/c and WiFi. The owners live on site and are great and accommodating but also give you your privacy. They called in advance and asked our arrival time and then directed us where to park when we arrived, They showed us our room and gave a short history lesson of the building. There is also a private balcony over looking San Marco Ave. We would definitely stay here again. We loved its charm and the easy walk for...
