My friends and I attended this restaurant from out of town while visiting for two birthday celebrations. We all ordered our foods and everything was off to a good start besides a few things seeming a bit unorganized. When it was time for us to order our entrees, my fiancé and brother in law asked what the price of the ribeye steak was because it stated “market price”, our server then told us. We then ordered our meals, my friends and I also ordered a sauce for the salmon we both ordered. When the food came out, my fiancé’s steak was completely cold as if it was sitting out for a while. We informed the server who of course took it back to prepare a new one, so of course he was not able to eat with everyone else. Everyone else’s food was also about nuke warm, along with that, the sauces we ordered for our salmons never came, and we proceeded to ask the server for them 4 times… by that time our salmon was completely cold. Once my fiancé’s steak did come out again, we asked for a steak knife which they did not have. Because of all of this and additional other small things we then called the manager over because we were so upset and unhappy about our food and experience. He brought out a few desserts and took off my fiancé and I’s entrees but everyone else still had to pay full price for there food even though we all had an equal terrible experience and service. My brother in law who also ordered the steak noticed that the price the server stated for the steak was DOUBLED on the check. We once again asked about it and the server was flustered and said he was misinformed, which he then took the steak off of his check. During all of this, we saw the table behind us which was a large group stand up and talk to an employee very upset and stated that his whole tables food was cold and kept saying what a terrible experience it was. Overall, it ruined our night because we were there so long due to the bad service and issues with our order. Do not go here, they have a lot of things to...

I like to start off with what a restaurant does right so let's start there.

The drinks were great and reasonably priced. We had datil pepper watermelon margaritas and a cucumber infused gin drink. Both were so tasty we had a 2nd round. Around 15 bucks a piece. A reasonable price for a great drink.

The food. The best dish by far was the bolognese. It was flavorful, beefy, a good portion and the pasta was cooked perfectly which is rare. There was even a spare shrimp inside the dish which was a tasty surprise. Would order that again.

For starters we had the mango habenero wings and beef satay. Alas they didn't have the sauce for the wings and offered a 10 spice dry rub instead which was fine because it ended up being tasty. My problem was for $17 you only get 6 wings and no sauce. For 3 bucks a wing you gotta do it better than the random wing place. There was nothing spectacular about these wings that made them worth the $3 a wing and especially when they're on the menue advertised as something much more enticing.

Now were getting to the not so good parts..

The beef satay. The portion was good and they were cooked well but the way they were described in the menue you would think the sauce would be flavorful or the chili coated peanuts would add a dimension of flavor to the dish. Alas. It did not. These beef skewers fell flat. I'm talking about medium well, no taste, no season regular degular beef. Shame.

Finally desert. Chocolate creme brulee with a lavender whipped cream! Ooohhh. That sounds good! Wrong. There was no lavender whipped cream and chocolate creme brulee is a fancy term for burnt moose.

Valet parking was convenient! The dude was friendly make sure you tip him well

All in all we won't be returning. $185 will get you a far better meal damn near anywhere else in town. Hopefully this helps someone know what to order and what to avoid when they...

I dine-in yesterday with my family for our Christmas dinner, we booked our “experience” months in advanced and we were quite exited to have a good dinner experience and family time.

We had a great family time, bad experience and food that was far from meeting the price tag. After getting home we ended up stoping at a gas station to get frozen pizzas and chicken nuggets after having spent 2 hours plus +$900 in the Castillo.

We came in for the experience that was offered, but we did not feel any value from it. We were in a big and nice room but this seemed to be used as storage room and it isolated us from most of the servers we had to either get up and look for them or wait until one came by which could be on ranges from 15-20 minutes. We didn’t even had salt pepper. I wonder if this dinner “experience” was overbooked and us being a big family were sent to the storage room, a very nice room but not as serviced as the average table.

To make things worst the time between each course arrived to the table was extremely extended. We kicked at dinner of making digestion 4 times in a dinner waiting for the next course to arrive. Yes we could have asked more from the servers but we were not about to stand up every 15 minutes from the table to search for a server to express our disagreements plus we thought we were paying for an experience with that elevated price tag.

Summary : Family time was amazing because we were all together. Food was bellow the bar with the prime rib not felling warm and fresh, deserts having refrigerator taste, family to share plates portions way bellow the head count in the table. Service did not meet the elevated price tag, why do we need to keep standing up and looking for our server to get service. For this we would just go to a...

I recently visited Castillo Craft Bar + Kitchen with my family… it was 8 of us… We supposedly were going to get a Festive Christmas Dinner as it was announced on their ads. We reserved for Christmas Day but unfortunately, the experience did not meet at all expectations. For the high price point, $95 per person +tax + minimum 20 % gratuity. the portions were shockingly small (will add some pictures) leaving us disappointed at every course. The appetizers were extremely limited, offering barely enough for 4/5 people and we were 8. (Same size plate was served for a table of 2) The second course—a Caprese salad—was an even bigger letdown. Just 6 of us barely got a single tomato, which felt more like a garnish than an actual dish. I needed to ask our waitress if we were missing an extra tray and his answer was no … so I needed to ask if they could bring more so my sons could get something. Usually when you are a large group and the table is big like ours they put 2 different trays so everybody can serve themselves. Our table was located inside a separate kind of private room that was also being used as storage for tables and chairs… No salt & pepper, no bread offered at all, we had to ask for water several times as nobody seemed to be interested on taking care of us… The entrees were average at best—nothing memorable or worth the cost. To make matters worse, the dessert took an unreasonably long time to arrive, extending an already lackluster meal. Overall, the experience was extremely overpriced and underwhelming. I wouldn’t return or recommend this experience to others. Maybe a regular day at the restaurant or bar are different but not for a super expensive Christmas Dinner Experience.

10/13/25: torched apple salad… delicious! The strong blue cheese offsets the sweet dressing, dried cranberries and dried cherries. I would have like to see a little more savory added to the salad, like maybe Kalamata olives instead of the dried cherries, but overall I enjoyed this salad and would order it again. The crab cakes however, that’s where I’m removing a star. The price is listed at $32, it seems like an upscale restaurant; so I was expecting lump crab meat with little breading. As soon as it arrived and I saw that it’s 3 crab cakes and I barely saw any crab meat popping out from the breading, I knew it wasn’t going to be what I was expecting. The description does not say the number of crab cakes; maybe that would’ve given me a hint it wouldn’t be chunks of crab meat. So yeah, it was basically traces of crab meat with a whole lot of breading. The remoulade sauce was tasty, but I would not order these again. The staff behind the bar, a gentleman and a woman named Katie, were great. They kept following up with the kitchen to make sure my food was coming out. They both asked me how my food was and I gave them my honest opinion about both dishes. They both understood what I was hoping for and so we chatted about making good crab cakes at home. They’re definitely the kind of people you want behind a bar, social, pleasant, and follow through.
