US 1 Computer Works — Local services in Saint Augustine

There are three major computer repair businesses in Saint Augustine, and based on my experience, US 1 Computer Works is by far the best. As a self-employed editor and writer, my livelihood depends on having a working computer at all times. So, I need quick and reliable tech support. I first used US 1 Computer Works to help me with a minor issue related to my laptop power cord. I initially called a computer repair service closer to where I lived, and they were not able to help me in a reasonable time frame. When I called US 1 Computer Works, one of the staff, Jim, offered to do a quick assessment of the problem. He saved my day by identifying the problem as a power cord issue, and not the power cord port, thus allowing me to quickly replace my power cord. Jim also suggested that I could prolong the usable life of my laptop suffering from maxed out memory by adding an inexpensive external drive. Stephen the owner was incredibly helpful in showing me how to move data to the external drive, and how to use the external drive to start up applications, thus preserving memory on my aging laptop. In addition, US 1 Computer Works rehabbed an old desktop, which I can now use when I'm based with family out of state. Excellent service every time!! I used a previous hard drive replacement I purchased from US 1 Computer Works for 8 YEARS!! It worked flawlessly and was still going strong, when I purchased a new computer from a big chain store in 2017. Two years later, the hard drive failed. I brought my computer here to replace the hard drive, and was told it might take 24 hours. It was ready even sooner, in half that time. It works beautifully. I took my laptop to him not once, but twice since it did not last any time after the first Disk Cleanup. The laptop was strictly used as a home computer and was never used on the road, so it was never abused, however, after the second repair/upgrade, it again only lasted a few days. I give him 2 Stars because after taking it back a third time, he elected not to charge me for telling me he can’t fix it – after me disputing his potential charge.
