I arrived at the Budget Inn Hotel at 800 34th Street North in St Petersburg, Florida at 3:30 PM EST on Monday, 31 July 2023. The entrance to hotel lobby was locked, with what appeared to be many guests waiting at the hotel front desk, and at least two attendants behind the front desk within the lobby. I waited no less than twenty minutes outside an outdoor window counter before three guests left the lobby and one of the front desk attendants unlocked the entrance to the hotel lobby, to let me in. Upon entering the lobby, I realized that there were at least a half dozen hotel staff in or around the front desk. After checking in and receiving my hotel room key card for room 210, I made my way to my hotel room where I immediately noticed the hotel room door was both unlocked and ajar. I entered the unlocked hotel room and immediately went to the bathroom to wash my hands; I immediately noticed that the toilet in the hotel room was overflooded with water around the toilet on the bathroom floor. Because there was no telephone in the hotel room, I called the hotel front desk directly from my cell phone, no less than three times, before I got an answer; I then advised the recipient of my call to the front desk that the toilet in my hotel room was overflooded with toilet water on the bathroom floor. I was advised a maintenance person would arrive shortly, to take a look at the toilet and clean up the toilet water on the bathroom floor. I waited no less than ten minutes before a hotel employee arrived, carrying nothing but a mop. The hotel employee then used the toilet plunger in the bathroom to bring down the water level within the toilet and then proceeded to mop up the toilet water on the bathroom floor, and then throughout the hotel room itself, from the bathroom to the entrance to the hotel room. When the hotel employee left the hotel room, I immediately called the hotel front desk again to request another room, as I did not feel comfortable staying in a hotel room I had witnessed being mopped with water from the hotel roomâs toilet. The front desk attendant advised that I return to the front desk to receive another room key card; upon my arrival at the hotel room lobby, I was given a key card for room 211. Upon entry to hotel room 211, I inspected the bathroom, washed my hands, and immediately left the hotel to meet my family members, whom I am visiting from California, I returned to my hotel room later that night to settle in for the evening; I turned the bed linens half-way down enough to expose the pillows and top quarter of the bedâs fitted sheet. After laying my head down onto one of the pillows for a few minutes, I could tell by the smell of the pillows that they had not been adequately laundered; there were also specs of dirt and debris on the top portion of the fitted sheet, and my exposed neck and arms on the fitted sheet were being inundated with small biting bugs. I then got out bed to pull the comforter and flat sheet back further to the foot of the bed where I found more dirt and debris across the fitted sheet and, not a fresh, but an old burn hole on the flat sheet on the bed. Disgusted, uncomfortable and upset, I immediately logged into my Expedia account and booked another hotel further down the street as, after witnessing one hotel room being mopped with water from a toilet, and another hotel room with visually and aromatically unclean bed sheets, there was no way I was going to be able to lodge at the Budget Inn at 800 34th Street North in St Petersburg, Florida any longer.. I checked out of hotel room 211 at the Budget Inn before 11PM EST on Monday, 31 July 2023. Before I left the hotel, the front desk attendant accused me of smoking in the hotel room, after which I contacted Expedia customer service to file a formal complaint about my hotel room conditions and the subsequent endured harassment from the hotel front desk attendant. My stay at the Quality Inn & Suites at Tropicana field was substantially more comfortable...
Read moreOkay, that was a rough night. I had to shut off the window air conditioner that was actually sticking out of the wall in the closet because it was so loud it was like being in the last row of a 747 airbus. Good news is the outside weather was comfortable. I was too scared to cover myself with the cheesy velour blanket that was on the bed for fear of something, not sure what. No one mentioned that my room was going to overlook a busy intersection where literally, anyone driving in my direction could see into my room, and at a distance so close they could see me not smiling. On top of that, every hot head or motorcycle enthusiast that got caught at the red light felt compelled to race each other, or at least rev their engines so loud that it woke me up each time. If it wasn't that then certainly the fire trucks racing to a fire at least once an hour. Right, there's a fire station just around the corner, and since this Inn is right at the intersection the fire trucks need their sirens and window-shattering airhorns every time they pass by. Let's not forget the car alarm that continued for about 30 minutes at 2 in the morning. Oh and how can I forget the argument between two people on the porch directly outside my door and window. No idea what time that was but twice they woke me up.
Then there's the room. Sorry to say that this is almost the worst hotel I've stayed at in about 40 years of heavy travel. I can't possibly go into each item that either grossed me out or physically put me into a state of apprehension. The room had absolutely nothing on the nasty white painted (possibly years ago) sheetrocked walls, which might not have even help but could marginally mitigate the feeling of being in a jail cell. The desk was a skinny, beat up sofa-table with a cheap cloth desk chair stuffed against the wall at the foot of the bed. (under the TV) The bathroom made me laugh. Look at the pictures, The toilet was light blue with a white seat/lid combo. The tub was blue and the walls pink tile except for the area in the tub where they used tan tiles. The shower curtain was about a foot too long so when you stood in the shower you were treated with rubbing your feet and ankles on wet nasty plastic covered in soap scum and whatever grows at the bottom of shower curtains that are always wet and clumped together. Dare I say mold? The light switch plate was melted or purposely bent so that it didn't sit flush with the wall. Not sure why but whenever I see things like that or the shower vent not covering the entire hole in the ceiling, I feel like something's going to crawl or slither out of it. While we're covering the bathroom, the door didn't stay shut, the toilet paper holder was missing the rod so the TP was on the back of the toilet, which apparently is the only place to set anything down on. The skinny edge of the tiny sink was already being used by the two towels, one hand towel, two wash cloths and a smallest bar of soap...
Read moreWARNING: DO NOT STAY HERE!! I don't even know where to begin. I wish I could give it NO starts. This hotel is in the projects, the room front doors have huge gaps when the door is closed so you feel all the air outside, the people who stay there are regulars & appear to be homeless/drug addicts, our curtains wouldn't stay shut so we had to use bobby pins to hold it together, the A/C Units at the ceiling so you need a chair to turn it on, but they suggest you call them to turn it on for you, the bathroom was ridiculously disgusting with plastic wrappers still in the tub from the previous guest and 3 public hairs on the toilet seat with urine and poop still in the toilet from the previous guest. Rooms have holes in walls & some rooms have cardboard instead of curtains. No elevator so you have to lug your suitcases up the outdoor stairs while other guests watch from their rooms. Their "continental breakfast" is muddy like dark coffee and bread. The only outlet in my room that held a plug was the bathroom outlet. When you try to plug anything it, it just fell out. Our towels were already soiled with i don't know what, but they were wet! We heard sirens all throughout the night, I was on the phone for 17 mins and heard 3 sirens throughout my call. Stains on the bedding, People slamming doors all throughout the night & talking loud in the hallways until about 4am. We did NOT feel safe and did not leave our room until 7am the next morning when we couldn't wait to get out of there. Before I even checked in I asked for my money back and they refused! This was by far the grossest hotel I ever stayed in. I read other reviews and people stated they got scabies from staying here, which i can honestly say that i'm not surprised. PLEASE, I BEG YOU. Do not waste your money! I really wish I...
