This B&B was wonderful! I'd give it my highest recommendations. The home was beautifully decorated and super clean. You walk into a foyer when you enter the B&B. From there you can see the beautiful pool and deck surrounding which just draws you in. You go to the main living room and the owner checks you in personally. It was a super simple and quick check in. The owner walked us to the room, gave us some brief instructions and the key. The room was clean and comfortable. The owners put together a list of recommendations for restaurants, bars, breakfast places, beaches, etc. This was not your typical list. It was a very full list with variety and description. They took time with the details at this B&B and it really showed. The room we stayed was smallish but ample. There was wifi, a TV, closet, decent sized full bathroom, ironing board, hairdryer, extra blankets, a suitcase holder, table with a coffee bar, etc. The bed was king sized and very comfortable. Did I say everything was super clean? Because it truly was. Breakfast was AMAZING! They had quite an assortment of baked goods that they themselves baked that morning. They had yogurts, fruit (huge assortment of cut up fruits!), coffee, juices, milk, cereal, etc. On top of all of this they had a daily special of choice of 2 omelets. They were delicious and made right there to order. I have to add- I've had plenty of hotel coffee. This was the best coffee I've ever had outside of a coffee shop or my own home. I don't know what brand they buy but both the in room coffee and the breakfast coffee were delicious. The B&B is located in an "artsy" upscale type neighborhood right near downtown. You can walk right out and get to many restaurants, etc without having to take your car. Parking is ok. There are 2 spots allotted and actually we had no trouble getting one of those spots each time we came back to the B&B. If they are full though, there was ample street parking. There may have been additional spots for parking that I did not see. Now.... the pool!! I am not a person to go stay in a hotel, etc in Florida near beaches and actually go to the pool. Never! It just seems wrong. Two things occurred though that changed this during our stay. First- red tide. We tried to go to the beach and couldn't handle it. Second the pool was beautiful and we couldn't resist! We were going for a short dip that ended up being the entire afternoon. We had the pool to ourselves and we had cushioned loungers to take a nap on, an area to have a snack (though no food is allowed in the pool itself), a very shallow end for sitting and resting and the main , heated area for swimming. It isn't a large pool so laps would not be in order really. However it is perfect for enjoying a beautiful day. The owners/hosts themselves were lovely and very helpful. They answered all questions and their service really was impeccable. They have 2 very polite dogs who never barked- not even once. They are super well behaved and simply adorable. We enjoyed sitting and playing with them a bit and really that made it even more "home" like to us. We actually also had a bit of time to kill so we brought out a board game that they had and sat in the dining room and played. We were only there 2 days but it really felt comfortable. So I'd give this B&B my highest recommendation. Price is reasonable so...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe always have a great time whenever we stay at a Select Registry inn, so when we found out there was one so close to where we are (Tampa) we knew this would be the perfect place to spend our anniversary! And it was!
We loved the inclusive breakfast options, which let us recommend this inn to some of our friends with milk allergies, vegetarians, etc. The coffee machine in your room that can also brew espresso, was a lovely feature, we loved the blonde roast! I added the milk from breakfast to make a latte and that was absolutely delicious š
Everything was just a 5-10 minute drive away, although we recommended biking or taking the Sun Runner during high traffic times if visiting anything on Central to not have to figure out parking. If you love hiking/walking in nature, we highly recommend the Weedon Island Preserve. A great look into our coastās mangrove ecosystem complete with an overlook tower viewing DTSP and DTTampa, also just 20 minutes from the inn :)
One of our favorite parts, was whenever we would come back and it felt like home whenever Kona and Fizzgig came running up to us or were just sitting on the couch, as if they were waiting for us, like our own pets at home. Even sitting down and talking with Jayson or Reymond on the couch about what we did was such a lovely experience. Iām a very big believer in āitās just the small things in lifeā and thatās exactly what our stay was. All of the little small things that people tend to forget are not forgotten here, which makes the place that much better.
Reymond, Jayson, Kona and Fizzgig have absolutely exceeded our expectations with the love and care that they put into their home. We will definitely be back and hope to exchange more delicious restaurants...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI found the Kenwood Gables B&B when looking for accommodation for a long weekend getaway for my husband and I. After checking their reviews on multiple websites, I decided to give it a try. It did not disappoint - on the contrary! We were thrilled!
We were greeted by Jayson as we arrived with a big smile (visible from behind the mask!) and a "Welcome home!". Their puppy Kona (an ADORABLE hypoallergenic shih tzu) was by his side, tail wagging. Jayson took care of the formalities in their gorgeous living room and we felt like we were already friends. He then walked us around the property and showed us our GORGEOUS room. We stayed in their Castaway room - the pictures you see on the internet (and their website) are absolutely accurate. The room was spotless and, for those who pay attention to details, it was very tastefully decorated - Jayson's trained fashion eye and Reymond's capable hands bring personality to their beautiful home. That's even more impressive when you see that every room is decorated differently (the linens aren't even the same!).
Jayson and Reymond were very friendly and so accommodating! They work very hard and do everything themselves, all while also finding time to talk to their guests. They have one of the best breakfasts in St. Pete - and I'm pretty picky (yes, I'm still thinking about those REAL FRENCH pastries - pour les connaisseurs.) They put together a whole list of places they recommend eating/drinking/spending time at - places they vet themselves frequently. That helped us a lot and I recommend you ask them if you are considering going out somewhere.
All in all, we enjoyed our stay very much. The place is sincerely fantastic and its owners give it a great vibe. We can't...
