I dropped off my $1,600 hp laptop yesterday because I began having charging issues the same day. I called this morning for an update on the diagnostics and was told the repair was motherboard related and would cost over $600. I shopped around and learned I had extended warranty and decided to go with another company. Since I did not call in advance and inform them of my plans, I had to wait an hour before receiving my computer. They needed to put my computer back together. After getting my computer I noticed there are several new nicks, scratches and dig marks in the metal body of my laptop ( I assume they weren’t certain on how to take the back cover off). Also part of the back cover was raised/ out of place, which makes me think something internally was out of place. Additionally, I keep 10mm vinyl stickers on my computer near my keyboard and one was completely destroyed, which let’s me know they had my computer rubbing against a hard surface. I immediately notify personnel and stated my concerns. They quickly retrieved the laptop and I waited an additional hour and a half. Now I assume the owner or the manager in charge hands me my computer again and begins asking questions regarding what my plans are to fix my computer. I tell him I have warranty. He proceeds to tell me they handle warranty and holds a conversation. I let him know I’m still going to use the other company. He leaves. Now after glancing at my computer again I noticed they used a sharp tool and shaved off piece of the metal backing that showed dig marks. There is now a minute gap in the back of my computer plate. I am highly upset they did not put care into handling my computer. I am also upset they did not communicate with me effectively about how they plan on fixing the issue at hand. I’m extremely worried that somehow my data will no longer be present. I will give an update at a later time if possible. I do not recommend using this company, especially if your...
Read moreAs a neighboring business of Genie Computer we have tried their IT repair service several times now. Each time we have used them there have been unexpected cost and or they have not been able to make the repair. Today we called them to repair a 3 in 1 printer ( the printer new on Amazon was $149.00 with free shipping ) Chuck the owner of the business explained that it would be $85 and hour to come out and repair/assess what was wrong. Shortly after his arrival he realized that the toner cartridge was damaged and that we needed a new one. At that point any ethical business person would have suggested buying a new cartridge and seeing if that didn't solve the problem. Instead, he ran around for over an hour to different Staples stores until he found a store that had a toner cartridge ( his words ). He did this at his repair rate of $85 an hour (I don't have any employees that make such a rate and could have sent someone to buy one or simply ordered one online and had it overnight-ed ) Incidentally we have many other printers scanner in our office. I tried to discuss the matter with him but he wouldn't offer anything except to say that if we had his service contract it would have been covered. I think he thought he could leverage this into a service contract instead he lost a neighboring customer. We will never ever do business...
Read moreReported to better business bureau. Had warranty work done on cpu. Simple Windows reinstall and fan replacement. Was told I wouldn't have to pay their standard $50 fee; do back up of my drive. Then was told I had to pay the $50 to get my computer back that they held for a week. Meanwhile, the computer when returned to my home still had a $15 dollar fan grinding which I was told would be replaced. Then after paid the $50, told wouldn't be replaced because there was nothing wrong with it after owner of company heard the fan and told me he would replace the day he picked it up. On delivery, was told the fan was just out of balance??? Then was told I would have to make another warranty request for the fan. Did so, waited two weeks, contacted warranty company. They said they were waiting on Genie. Called Genie to let them know the warranty company needed the part number and was immediately confronted and told the warranty company was wrong and call back when I had a better attitude and was then HUNG UP O?. Warranty company has now requested a different cpu company to do the warranty work since Genie was totally incompetent, rude, talked down to myself and wife, hung up on, lied to about computer parts and workings, lied to about contacting warranty...
