Overall, stay here at your own risk. You can get by with a decent room if you keep to yourself. The room cleanliness was tolerable as well as the noise.
My boyfriend and I arrived ~3:05 and told we couldn’t check in yet because the rooms were not clean. Inconvenient, yes. But everyone is understaffed and they said they were sold out the night before. No biggie. We were told to come check in probably 20 minutes later, and the older gentleman who left shortly after was kind and understanding about it.
The real issue began when we checked in. I was handed the check in paper with no pen, so I asked the desk agent “can I get a pen” his response? “They’re right there, look for them.” Surprised, I gave my boyfriend a weird look, like, what was that about? Then looked at the front desk agent who was staring me down. Weird…
I sign the paper, he tells us our room number and nothing else, and we walk away. Right when we were out of his sight, he mumbled profanities under his breath about me having an attitude. I returned back to the desk and asked “excuse me?” Shocked that no one else was at the check in area meaning he was talking about me.
He immediately started shouting over me and my boyfriend, eventually telling him to meet him outside at 9pm once his shift ended to fight?!? He was irate and shouting over us causing a scene.
I finally told my boyfriend we needed to walk away because we could not get any words out without him yelling over us and it wasn’t going anywhere.
Once cooled off, I sent my boyfriend down to apologize (I know, ridiculous) because I now feared for my safety as a 5’2 25 year old woman. The other front desk agent present watched it all go down and said nothing. I was afraid we were not safe that night in our room and anticipated them fighting refunding me, so I had my boyfriend be the bigger person and go down there.
Both parties apologized, and the other front desk agent said this is something that gentleman does very often. The perpetrator was wearing a suit jacket of sorts and had rainbow colored pens pinned/hanging on his pocket.
I think this is a classic case of being overworked over the holidays. It is unacceptable to instigate drama with a guest who did not do anything to you and act so irate and childish while on the clock. On top of that, fearing for your own safety in a hotel shouldn’t be a thing when paying to stay somewhere. I hope the right people can contact me for the full story.
this can all be validated via the camera that was hanging right above him between 3:20-3:35pm on 12/30/23.
Not to mention, “maintenance” knocked on our door for no reason 30 mins into our stay, freaking me out more.
Then, at 9:50am on 12/31/23, a woman LET HERSELF INTO OUR ROOM. While I was in the bathroom using the restroom.
Unbelievable experience and the IHG company definitely needs to do a check on this place. Your staff...
Read moreAs a long time IHG customer, I have always loved staying at Holiday Inn Express/ Holiday Inns. As travelers, we have choices as to where we spend the night. In the corporate world, I had numerous hotel chains that I frequented. Upon retirement, and semi-annual trips to and from Maine to Florida, along the I95 corridor, IHG and Holiday Inns/Express were my first choice as they were always consistent. This trip to your hotel was because our granddaughter from Maine were staying there for a softball tournament. Of course, we stayed with them.
I made a reservation for a King Bed Room. We arrived at 4:45 pm to check in. Aaron checked us in but said that our room wasn't ready and we could wait. We were OK with that, but Chrisella, the other rep, asserted herself and said they were busy and,"you will have to wait" ...again, no problem. They called us to the desk and said Room 403 was ready: we arrived at the room to find people already in there. I returned to the desk, and told them what we found. Aaron turned to Chrisella and said so and so said it was ready. Chrisella looked at me with some disdain and said you need to wait ... no problem. I was then called to the desk and told that 422 was ready .... to the room and found a Queen bed. I returned to the desk, with some frustration, and told both Chrisella and Aaron that we wanted a King bed. Chrisella rolled her eyes and said, "ok, but you will need to wait for a room". I told her that she did not care, and she responded, "it is what it is" and left the desk and went out back. I could tell that Aaron was very uncomfortable. I told Aaron that I spent my life in the corporate world and if I were the hiring manager, she never would have been hired. He later came running up to tell us he found a room and personally checked it out.
The room service was horrible .... at the end of the second day, no one had come to our room. I called the front desk and asked if we could have some clean towels. The woman who answered seemed bothered and said, I've got a couple up here and you can come and pick them up. ..... Chrisella was there. She is the poorest example of customer service than I have ever seen in staying at IHG hotels.
You can be very sure that I will NEVER return to this hotel. I look forward to my return trip to Maine where I stay at IHG hotels on my way north from Florida and enjoy well managed hotels and superb customer service. If I were the district manager of your hotel, Chrisella would be put on an action plan, coached and if she didn't improve, she would...
Read moreStayed here for 4 days with my family , location is very seedy and our stay was atrocious! This was our 2nd time staying here . They had a family reunion renting out a conference room right across from room super loud music on a giant speaker every night until 12pm or by later , so loud that you couldn’t hear the tv in our room unless it was on 30 and it still didn’t block out the noise, was impossible to sleep ! ! Marijuana smell the entire stay in the hallways even though it’s supposed to be smoke free ! Complained several time to front desk nothing ever happened ! The woman kept saying I’ll tell them to turn it down but never did and did nothing about the marijuana smell either ! I had my family with me and kids this was absolutely terrible situation ! Even asked about a refund and wanted to go to another hotel was told because I booked with a third party I couldn’t do that . The management was terrible , the room was dirty with holes in walls , broken furniture, and the beds were scary to sleep in ! ( Possible bed bugs )housekeeping gives dirty towels and they definitely do not clean t he showers or rooms well ! We spent most of our time gone to avoid what was happening at the hotel ! Terrible experience would never return such a shame used to be a good hotel and went downhill when it changed owners is what I was told . Do your self a favor do not go here the area has people begging for money in hotel parking lot and , just a bad area and crappy hotel . Management is a joke and the lady at the desk was rude and didn’t even seem to care ! This is not a family hotel and not kid friendly ! We felt genuinely unsafe staying here and will never return ! The only positive thing I can say about this hotel is the older gentleman who said he is a manager in the morning did give me $75 off my stay but I think for all that was happening that was nothing when my bill was over $500 Much better hotels in Clearwater 15mins away !!
Do not stay here Not family friendly Not safe for adults or kids Unclean & don’t care...
