I was excited to stay at Courtyard St. Petersburg after some less desirable hotel experiences, and walking into this location felt like a breath of fresh air. We stayed for a week, and at first, everything seemed promising. The hotel is beautifully designed and clean, with a smart room layout and a modern shower (seriously, who still uses bathtubs in hotels?). As a housekeeper myself, I notice details, and while the cleaning wasn’t spotless, it was decent enough. Soundproofing, however, is a major issue—you can hear just about everything from your neighbors, even normal conversations and TV at moderate volumes. On the plus side, parking was very convenient, with an open lot that made things easy.||The biggest downside of this hotel was the staff. The front desk experience started off on the wrong foot. The young woman who checked us in was impatient and unwelcoming. When I asked about complimentary waters (which might not even be policy at this location), her tone made it feel like I’d asked for something outrageous. That interaction set the tone, but I was willing to overlook it—until my second issue with the staff made it clear that poor service might be a bigger problem here.||During our stay, we didn’t want daily housekeeping, but after a few days, we needed a refresh. At 9 a.m., I specifically called to request service, made sure the “Do Not Disturb” sign was off, and even prepped the room by clearing out towels and leaving a tip. I was assured that housekeeping would take care of it. When we returned in the early evening, the room was still dirty. I called back, only to be met with an unapologetic response and a lame excuse that the housekeepers were in a rush and saw the DND sign (which wasn’t true—it had been removed at 9 a.m.). Instead of apologizing or resolving the issue, they just offered to bring towels, which felt dismissive and disappointing.||The hotel WiFi is also terrible and not great for getting work done. ||Courtyard claims to be the official hotel of the NFL, but this experience didn’t live up to that standard. While the property itself is nice and has potential, the staff’s lack of professionalism and attention to detail really soured the experience. Read moreThis is a brand new hotel as of Dec 2021 / Jan 2022. We booked a 3-night stay for a company leadership meet-up, and had (9) rooms on several different floors.
The bed was extremely comfortable. Many rooms have outside balconies that are sizeable. The rooms seemed oversized, including walk-in showers.
One of the best hotel features (maybe the best) is the rooftop bar. It look east, over the intracoastal and causeway coming into Clearwater Beach. Amazing setting with comfortable patio furniture and attentive and friendly staff.
For that matter, all staff that we encountered were excellent - Tracy in group sales, Rich and others at the front desk, the Assistant GM who helped us book an additional night and the different women who worked the breakfast bar. We didn't meet a single staff member that took away from the visit or experience. Even the maid working my floor (Floor 7) went out of her way to give me a cheerful "good morning".
Location = ideal. 2 block walk to the Clearwater Marina where you have boating excursions and restaurants (try Marina Cantina), and in another direction, 2-3 block walk to Clearwater Beach's best beachfront dining and bars: The Rockaway Grill and the Palm Pavilion (best = meaning casual, with live music).
For those that work out, the gym has floor-to-ceiling glass views looking over their marina and water.
I have nothing negative to say about our stay and experience!
Only "could be better", but this did not effect me in the least: the refrigerators are small, so if a family was coming down for 5 days or a week, and didn't want to eat out every night and wanted a place to store drinks or sandwiches or something of that sort, in planning the hotel, they might have taken something like that into better account. This wasn't an issue for me, as we ate out all 3 nights. We ate breakfast at the hotel and liked what was provided.
There is also a marina for arriving by boat. We didn't use the marina, but for boaters, there is quite a bit of boating space, and being a former boat owner, and local resident, I know there are gas facilities only 1/4 mile away at the Clearwater Marina - very convenient location relative...
