Where do I start?
Bula Kafé is my favorite place on this earth — is that too much? No, but seriously If I go into detail about Bula Kafé this review would be an 12 hour long cheesy and semi lewd novel.
The interactions and connections made in the Bula community are some of the greatest I've ever experienced, the Bula community and staff are so incredibly accepting to newcomers. The people you'll meet and form connections with here fall on a very diverse and broad and beautiful spectrum. (I'll stop being all emotional and cut to the actual Kafé now I swear.)
★ As mentioned the staff and patrons are incredibly pleasent and sociable.
★ The kava and kratom are well strained, flavorable and strong; you definitely get your money's worth!
★ The bathroom facilities and bar area are cleaned regularly by the observant 'kavatenders.'
★ There is usually some special or event going on nightly. ie: karaoke, movie night, crafts night, Saturday night market, etc. (KEEP AN EYE ON THEIR INSTAGRAM TO STAY INFORMED! @bula.kafe)
If you're in the area stop in and say hello, first shell of kava is free and they'll explain in detail the different drinks if you ask.
Hope to see you there!
BULA!

Read moreThe first and only time I've been here, I sat at the bar smiling and waiting for my official first time Kava drink from a Kava bar. One of the tenders saw me, stood directly in front of me and checked their phone over and over. I literally sat at the bar for 6 minutes until someone acknowledged my presence. I felt like I was at the wrong place, that's how bad it was. When I finally did receive service, the tender was very polite and bubbly and just great... I was surprised by how much I enjoyed having her as a server because the wait time just to get someone's attention was a little barbaric. More people arrived (first timers) who didn't realize alcohol drinkers weren't welcomed. I understand this logic, as I'm sure anyone else would when explained... However, the tender (the one on their phone), basically just smiled and said you guys need to leave. They thought the tender was joking up until the 6th time. I think a little bit of training and replacing staff would make me want to ever decide to come here again. Definitely wasn't feeling it. I recommend Grassroots just...
Read moreI enjoyed my time here. As an Ethnobotanist and kava researcher and someone who has spent more hours than I care to admit around kava in the Pacific, I find kava bars in the contemporary sense strange.
However, coming here was a great choice! There are two parts to the bar; one side of the bar seemed more relaxed and on the other many people seemed to know each other, which was cool. The kava-tender offered me a first-time cup on the house, which was awesome! I visited here a few years ago and mentioned this, and he was still very cool in offering me kava on the house, which was very humbling. All in all, I'd tone down the noise( music), but the dim-lighting atmosphere is great. I found an event on the wall happening the next day in Tampa right up my alley and was able to attend, which I was delighted with as well. So I recommend Bula kava Bar! I can tell they are invested in the community, which is...
