A Special Touch - Cakes By Carolynn — Restaurant in Saint Petersburg

Literally the worse experience. It was suggested by my wedding location, being a preferred vendor on the vendor list. I had an appointment scheduled and when I walked in the lady asked me to take a seat. I waited for 10 minutes before I was acknowledged by the lady doing my consultation. While waiting I witnessed a customer order some cupcakes; and once she left I over heard TWO employees or bakers talking negatively about the customer that just left. Very disrespectful and unprofessional. Finally the lady sat with my fiancé and I and she was unprepared, she had to leave us again for her paperwork and a pencil. I had preselected the flavors like requested by the bakery before hand and we got a different flavor other than one we asked to sample. The lady kept telling me what I would get, not for any input or information that I was looking for. It was not an open conversation I was being told what I would get. It was utterly disappointing and a terrible experience. My wedding location includes our cake and I am willing to “upgrade” and select extras that was not included in my package for the wedding cake of my dreams. The upgrade was with the flavors for coconut cream it was an extra $40 for a basic cake not including the chocolate shells that we was asking about. Once I left the location, in the back of my mind I couldn’t help but wonder if the ladies would find something inappropriate to discuss about my fiancé and myself. Two days before the wedding we received an email stating “ I never received swatches from you for the cake. What color are you wanting for the ribbon and flowers? We look forward to hearing from you!” When we called the woman who answered the phone stated she didn’t know what we were talking about with major attitude, We let her know that the DHL package we sent was delivered two weeks prior she put us on hold and said she had the materials, still with an attitude when asked what we wanted for colors and ribbons I stated do you have the picture we emailed and she said yes, ok that was exactly what we wanted. The color ribbon of teal and black they had in the box as well as cake topper, which was the only part the got correct. They left the extra cupcakes we ordered in a box thrown aside not on display and was just done in poor taste, clearly as you can see from the pic that we sent to what we received at our ceremony, beyond dissatisfied. We had a Halloween wedding last yr on the 28th. Our cake was made to look like a tree stump and came out perfect We saved the top to eat on our 1st anniversary. We've had it in the freezer since the day after our wedding. Then cake hurricane Milton. 3days after power it dawned on me that our anniversary was a week away and we had zero power and our cake top was still in the freezer. My wife had work that day so before she left we opened the freezer, fingers crossed and she took it to work to put in her freezer. She brought it back home this last Friday. We ate a piece on the 28th and from what everyone who's had their cake on the 1st anniversary told us that it wouldn't be good. Well???? I gotta say I'm completely and utterly shocked.
