Uptown Inn & Suites, St Petersburg, FL — Hotel in Saint Petersburg

If I hadn't taken the worst shower I've ever taken at a hotel / Airbnb / other, I probably would have given this two stars.

Pros: The woman at check in was fairly personable and friendly. While that should be the bare minimum, it often isn't. Her dog was also extremely cute and well-behaved. The air conditioner in the room seemed to work very well.

Cons: Just about everything else.

All the furniture in the room was fairly rickety and falling apart. The bathroom was a mess. The water would not completely turn off in the bathtub, so throughout my whole stay I had to listen to water dripping / running. This was compounded by the fact that the bathroom door would not completely close because both the floor, and the door frame appeared to be warped, probably from all the moisture from the constant water.

The sink, basin, top, appear to have been completely skipped as far as cleaning. The tub had a weird ring in it. Further there was a large area around the drain that was just bare metal, all the paint or whatever was missing or rusted away. My shower upon leaving was extremely terrible. Armed with shower shoes, I hopped in for the shower only to find the water pressure lacking and the water building up as if I was running it for a bath. By the time my short shower was over it covered my ankles and was approaching my shins. I ended up essentially standing in a shallow bath while showering because the water would not drain.

I used my own sheets and comforter, but the ones provided seemed as clean as any other place.

The charge to my card said Empress Motel, I guess that was the name prior to Uptown Suites; the name definitely fit better than Uptown Suites.

The place was also very loud at all hours of the night. I think there are "permanent residents," and they felt comfortable arguing outside with each other at 1: 00am ish and 2: 30am ish...

The location was perfect near everything. The service was great.. however my issue was we reserved the room for 2 nights. However, we barely stayed the first night. Outside of my room upstairs I could hear women talking at 9pm… I thought after a while the ladies would shut it down & leave. 12am… the ladies continued to talk. 1 am the ladies are still outside talking loudly as if they weren’t at a hotel where individuals are resting. At 1:00 the talking continues. I opened the door to see the property manager (black lady) that resides on site upstairs outside near our room talking loudly with another lady whom I can only assume that was renting a room…. neither even looked my way. At this point I closed the door in anger. At 1:50am…. I told my husband to help me pack so that we could go. Screw the money! At 1:56am I heard one of the ladies say… “ good night”…. FINALLY!!! This is so in professional & RUDE!!!! No respect or consideration of the guest on site that just might be tired and in need of rest! I will NEVER EVER stay at this establishment ever again!!! There luckily I gave 3 stars. It’s only because I had no issues with anything else other than the same manager who was NOT in the office when we arrived. We waiting outside for about 15 minutes. We called and left a message. About 30 minutes later she calls back asking if we were downstairs because she was more and likely in her room instead of being in the office. 😡...

Staff was very nice. Of course hotels post the pictures they want you to see. A/C was loud not to mention (photo) hanging wires and the outlets don't hold the plug it kept falling out. Wardrobe they had a shelf but no bar for hanging clothes. Bathroom: (photo) toilet top definitely wasn't the one that belonged on it. 🤣🤣 rusty tub because a leaky faucet it ran small amount continuously. The bed was fine except there was a plastic cover on mattress which felt like you were laying on plastic. I kept waking up hot and felt I was sticking to the bed. There are soda machines(don't work). I lost $2. No means to get anything to drink or eat unless you went out or bring your own. The room had desk and cute little table &chairs. The blinds had a big gap between them so the light from outside shined through. Needs drapes over them as well. I was close to employees stock room. (Photo) everytime I went past could smell marijuana strong. Looked very trashy. Now on the other side. I'm very grateful that I had a place for few days.
