We love finding new places to eat and supporting local businesses. We're not chain food foodies, and certainly not into fast food.
After a nice visit down the street at the Sunken Gardens, we were ready for some grub. I had noticed this location on maps while planning our St Pete day trip (we're from the other side of the Bay), and the place looked like it was right up our alley.
To start, the staff was very friendly and helpful. Service was prompt.
We ordered the Smoked Fish Spread to start. Wow, I could not believe the portion size for the $10 appetizer! Very fresh and just an ever so slight hint of smokiness. Did not take away from the other flavors. Saltines and Texas Pete's hot sauce are served along side. Simply perfect.
She had the Salmon Vera Cruz (sans the tomatoes and peppers...not here thing ya know). Huge piece of fish and plenty of veggies over the rice. The flavor was out of this world!
I had the Jumbo Shrimp Duo (friend & scampi) with New Potatoes, Cole Slaw garnish, and a 3 Daughter's Beach Blonde Ale to wash it all down.
When they say "jumbo" shrimp, these people don't mess around! Those things were massive! I am talking 2-3 bites per shrimp massive! To try and eat one whole is almost impossible!
Cooked to perfection and seasoned perfectly, this was the best shrimp dinner I have ever had!
We were too full to try desserts, but that black berry cobbler will be had at the next visit.
We will be back without a...
Read moreI love Fourth Street Shrimp Store, and it’s been my favorite restaurant in St Pete for more than 20 years! It is a casual, family-friendly seafood restaurant with excellent food including multiple options for non-seafood eaters! All of the staff are super friendly and helpful, and the service is great! The atmosphere is fun and laid-back, and the prices are very reasonable, especially considering the quality and quantity, because the food is fresh and perfectly prepared, and the portions are ample! Fourth Street is my usual go-to whether I’m dining alone or with family and/or friends and for larger gatherings as well, especially when we have family and/or friends visiting from out of town. I highly recommend Fourth Street Shrimp Store to everyone and am happy to recommend my favorite menu items, which are: Hush Puppies appetizer (I like to dip them in drawn butter or cocktail sauce), Shrimp Po Boy (with fries), Lobster and Shrimp Roll (with fries), Blackened Mahi Tacos (with black beans and rice), Fried Clam Strips (with fries; or, when I’m with others, we’ll get the basket without fries to share for an appetizer!), Blackberry Cobbler with Vanilla Ice...
Read moreI walked in at 830 PM on a Saturday night and the place was maybe 20% occupied. That should have been a red flag. There was just one couple sitting inside while most were sitting out front in the warm night. I didn't see any wait staff so went up to the counter and the pleasant attendant asked me what I'd like to order. I assumed (my mistake) that their was no inside table service and ordered a combo dinner of fried clams, crab cake and jumbo shrimp with a cup of clam chowder. This was delivered to my table 20 mins later in a to go bag. I decided the to go order was my fault so I opened up the styrofoam containers and the meal was terrible. Fried clams were ALREADY cold. The 3 "jumbo" shrimp were warm and actually quite good but the luke warm crab cake was terrible. Not a lot of crab and way too much filler. Cold rice and beans and luke warm clam chowder sans clams finished it for me. I left most of the meal on the table. I had expected my meal to be , at the least, a step above fast food since it carried a $30 price tag. Sadly, this was another...
