Read moreGrand Hacienda is okay: it's not bad, yet not great either. The food was good--I and the friend I was with both enjoyed our meals--but nothing special: it was middle-of-the-road, Americanized Mexican, but, that said, it was tasty. The service, though, wasn't good. The servers were all very nice, don't get me wrong, yet the actual service was fair at best. For example, it took a long time for anyone to come take our order, and they never asked when we were seated if we wanted a beverage to start things off. They also did not bring any water to the table. To me, that's a major strike against a restaurant, if they do not automatically (without being asked) bring out some glasses of water right off the bat, especially a Mexican restaurant with tortilla chips and a spicy tomato salsa set out on the table. I never did try the salsa, as my friend said it was spicy and we had no water and nothing else to drink. We just sat there with no water and no one asking if we wanted to order a beverage. Now that I think about it, I realize: I've never been to a restaurant at which they didn't ask you if you want to order a beverage ahead of when they come back to take your actual meal order. So the fact that they didn't do that and they didn't bring out any water is really bad, in my opinion, especially with that spicy salsa sitting there on the table. Throughout the entire meal, the servers weren't around much. Again, they were nice, yet not attentive.
That said, I would go back there again if a friend really wanted to go there: the place was comfortable, and the food was pretty good, just nothing special at all (I do appreciate that they had items labeled as gluten-free and they also had a very large and varied menu). Verdict: comfortable place to get a nice meal, but the service is off--very slow and inattentive--and the food, while good, is nothing to...
Read moreFirst, I like to say we enjoy Grand Hacienda. Grand Hacienda is one of the few good Mexican restaurants in St. Pete. We reserved a table on the patio for brunch on Easter Sunday Brunch. The experience began with them trying to seat us at a table too small for our party. The hostess was unable to address the issue bur the manager stepped in and resolved the issue! Where things went wrong was it took 20-25 minutes to get two margaritas on the rocks and mimosas. Appetizers were pretty much gone by the time the drinks were delivered. Totally unacceptable especially at 11:30 when the restaurant and patio were not crowded! Then to add insult to injury my Dad order blueberry pancakes and a side if ham. What the grossly ill trained server and kitchen staff delivered was pancakes made blueberries and diced ham. I have never heard of such a thing! Hiw do you offer breakfasts items and a brunch and can't execute on pancakes and a side of ham and deliver a mimosa in a timely manner! No excuses. We dine at Grand Hacienda a minimum of three times a month and have introduced at least 20 people to them for mexican in the area. 29 minutes for drinks at brunch and pancakes made with diced ham inside them...gross and grossly negligent. No excuse for bad service, late drinks and poorly executed items on their brunch menu. Seriously think twice before you take family and friends to brunch at Grand...
