I would like to start out saying this was my favorite motel in town and my girlfriend and I treated it as such. My girlfriend and I have both recently fallen on Hard Times, found ourselves laid off and homeless. We live in a relatively small town yet there are 29 hotels to choose from. With our savings we decided to go from hotel to motel and pick our favorite. It didn't take long for me to realize I thoroughly enjoyed the Motel 6 on Portland Road. It was reasonably priced with clean rooms and a friendly staff. Not much more I could ask for. I ended up getting a job offer but the opening wasn't coming available for another couple of months. So my girlfriend and I were going to be living in hotels for the foreseeable future and I had every intention love making my main the Motel 6. We would leave every few days so to not be a burden or overstay our welcome with the staff, only to make sure to make Motel 6 a constant destination. one of the reasons we enjoyed Motel 6 so much was because they were pet friendly. We have a small female indoor cat who is spayed and declawed and extremely well-trained and mannered. all the staff were quite aware and accepting of our third family member, which is why after three month of off and on residency and thousands of dollars spent we were shocked to hear a part-time desk clerk movie rarely had the unfortunate privilege of dealing with told us one morning that the hotel was no longer accepting of cats however dogs were fine. With no mention from the staff previous at all, no mention online in the lobby or anywhere for that matter we were no longer welcome to stay at the Motel 6. When I brought up the fact there was no mention anywhere in any facet that Cats were not allowed, the clerk proceeded to tell me they were a individually owned franchise Motel 6 and did not have to hear by the chains rules and Promises, essentially stating they can do whatever they would like and they would no longer welcome cats. So in an instant the Motel 6 on Portland Road went from being my favorite home away from home to now a bloody divorce whereas not only why no longer recommend Motel 6, my recommendation will be against any affiliation with such a hypocritical and close minded Motel chain. We did nothing wrong to be treated like leopards in the eyes of a judgemental staff member with a power trip. I no longer and fear never again will be able to call Motel 6 my home...
Read moreI was very pleased with the value & absolutely WOULD patronize this motel again.
There were holes in my bedspread, and the bathroom window screen was missing. Otherwise, I would give an over-all rating of 10. However, I admit that neither of these items caused me a problem.
My motel room and everything in it were very clean.
There is an active railroad track near the motel. A railroad train passed by at approximately 3:00 a.m. and awakened me with many blasts of its horn. I do not think that there were more than two trains passing by during my one-night stay. I was very fortunate regarding disturbances by the late-night and early-morning noise of other motel guests and automobiles. Many large eighteen-wheeler trucks passed by along the highway in front of the motel, but I did not find their noise to be especially loud or bothersome.
The pillow cases, pillows, and sheets were clean, and looked to be new.
I encountered a failure of the access cards to unlock the main door for one entry, such that it required four separate attempts to unlock the main door successfully. Of the many entries that I made during my stay, this problem never reoccurred.
This single-queen-bed room was extremely large and roomy (including the bathroom).
I like a firm mattress, and found the bed to be very comfortable.
The heating/air conditioning unit is very simple (e.g., no thermostat or timer), but is powerful and performed very adequately.
The mirrors, flooring, bathroom sink, and the toilet appeared to be very new and modern. The painting of the walls and ceiling appeared to have been performed with excellent quality of workmanship. The workmanship for the rubber molding over the gap between the walls and the floors was cosmetically less than perfect, but all of the rubber molding was complete and secure.
Except as noted, all of the lights and switches, plumbing, bathroom ceiling exhaust fan, and telephone worked flawlessly.
I especially liked the covered area at the main door to the motel office, where I was able to unload my personal items from, and reload them into, my automobile while it was raining, without getting myself or my items wet (I am obviously not a TRUE Oregonian). However, there is no covered connection between this covered area and the covered walkway immediately outside of the front door of my room, and so neither I nor my personal items completely escaped...
Read moreWe booked our stay near the Expo because our grandson was competing at the State Wrestling Tournament. We got there about 4:30 pm. We had a ADA room for my husband. The only handicap parking spot was taken. We took the next one. While I was bring our things into the room, my husband tried the TV. It didnt work or have signal. I called the front desk to see if he could let us know how to connect it. He came right over and shook some wires and unplugged some and got the TV to work. Great. The TV shut off and didnt come back on. So we decided to head out for dinner. I had to back the truck in so my husband could get in cuz we didnt have the extra space a handicap spot would have. Immediately the manager came out to inform us that there was no backing in allowed. I said I had to do this to give my husband room to get in the truck. He then had the person (not handicapped)that was parked in handicap spot move. When we returned, the spot was open. Wonderful. We tried the TV again and no luck. My husband watches the news in the morning while I get things ready to go. With this I went to the office again to ask what was up with the Tv. And the then clerk said "yeah we are having problems with that particular router in that room I think there is a short in the connection". So they were aware of this, which the manager knowingly said nothing. Oh well. The clerk then said let me see what i can do to make up for this situation. He came back with our receipt and said I gave you a 10% discount for the inconvenience. I said thank you. When i check out the receipt showed the 10% discount which we appreciated. When I checked my bank 2 days later the FULL AMOUNT was taken out of my bank and no discount was given. The stay was ok other then the room not really being ADA and the TV situation and the...
