El Grullense — Restaurant in Salem

My family and I have been going to this delicious establishment for over 10 years. Everyone has always been so kind, and the service is fantastic!! I don't have a single complaint. I just wish we lived closer to the restaurant. 😁 The food draws us in even from out of town! Although we aren't able to go very often, we visit several times each year. Some of my family members met up there 4/28/24, and after we all finished our food, several of us ordered extra to take home for leftovers. We love the carnitas, menudo, carne asada, chicken, birria, tacos, salsa, burritos, sopes, beans and rice, taquitos, enchiladas, and so much more. Due to COVID, we had to do the drive thru. There are no prices listed on the drive thru menu board, but they didn't seem unreasonable. Husband and I both got tortas carnitas in the "meal deal" (drinks and fries made it $9 a meal) I ordered a small flan also ($4). There was some confusion after they had us park (along with several others) to wait for our food. As long as you can be patient, they get it to you pretty fast. I enjoyed the torta and the flan, hubby was not as impressed with the torta and I didnt let.him have any of my flan (for a small piece it was really big and really good! I added whip cream to it when I got home and that was divine!) Not a bad experience in light of going back to restrictions and take out/drive thru only right now. I will definitely be back for...

Went out with a couple of friends, and as soon as I walked in the place looked like it was poorly managed. The menu made no sense, they had combo numbers over 20 and didn't even have a number one. Also their soda machine didn't have any ice at all and we had to wait to get it from some of the cashiers. When we got our food one of my friends didn't get his order right and by the time we were done eating he got his order. The rice seemed like it had been cooked from the day before and really had no taste to it. However the chicken and other meats like Lengua and Carne Asada had a good taste.
