I rented a room from them for three months over the summer. Let me be clear. This is probably the cheapest place you'll have in SF. About a 1000 bucks for a room with a shared bathroom. The room was okay. Not a lot of people stayed at the place while I was there, so the bathrooms were not overused. You get what you pay for. An okay room that's walking distance to many tech companies.
However, the old guy at reception is super rude. Besides, they have a mouse problem! Somehow, they thought it's not their problem to fix it! The set a couple of traps and called it a day. They did not attempt to solve the root issue, so I had to live with the fact that although I renting a private room, I had a couple of mice as roommates. That being said, they were more afraid of me than I was of them, so they kept for their selves.
The area itself can get sketchy outside work hours, but you learn to live with it and that's not something the management can help. A lot of great food options though, and it's super close to a ton of great transportation options.
One thing to note: there was a new management when I moved in. While many old reviews complained about them not returning their security deposit in a timely manner, I received mine promptly....

This place is a scam. I made a room reservation a month ago for 2 nights in January with no issues. They asked for basic info and card info, whatever. They haven't charged me anything yet and wont until the day comes. Fast forward to today I randomly decided to check my reservation to make sure I had still had a room for myself. I enter my last name and the confirmation number i was given. No reservations show up at all. I try to get a hold by phone, the number is not updated. I email them and the email doesn't exist / they're not accepting emails. I finally get a phone number to reach out to them and the guy that answers asks for my check in/checkout dates and my last name. Guy said he would call me back shortly. I never get a phone call back so I try calling back and i'm not able to get a hold of anyone. The phone doesn't even ring anymore so they blocked my phone number. Imagine had i not checked my reservation status today. I would've had no place to stay and they probably would have even taken my money so i would be stranded. Ive canceled my card and am getting a new one so they cant take anything from me. Please choose literally anywhere else to stay. San Francisco has so many...
Read moreWish I read the reviews beforehand. Had much the same experiences. Appears to be an old hotel/rooming house that was updated. Fresh paint all around and new carpets and secure doors a plus. Windows filthy and no screen on mine. Old dresser drawers stayed open due to unlevel floor.
The location is good to get around easy. Walkable to a lot plus public transit options nearby (Muni and BART). But that area of Market St has its share of unhoused people and lots of open drug use and bodily relief. The street is really grimy. SF has a tough job keeping this area clean.
For SF, the room rate was decent, but be prepared to abandon basic hospitality expectations. Hotel amenities lacking. No coffee maker in my room and had to ask. They seemed annoyed at that, especially when I further asked for the associated coffee pods and cups. I had a room w/bath but no soap in shower (one small bar for the in-room sink). No room changeover or fresh towels over 3 nights. After the coffee maker incident, the staff had an unwelcoming attitude toward me when I passed. I am not a high maintenance traveler but just felt...
