Our bartender (Nick) was fantastic. Skilled in his craft. Prices were fitting to the level of flavor that he was able to incorporate into each of the bar's very unique drink menu. I've added just a few photos for reference. I will return to this establishment the next time I am in San Francisco for the bar alone and I recommend that you do the same. That being said I had come to the function for a comedy show and at the end of the night had come to find that the overall experience here was lacking. Less than half of the comedians were actually funny. The majority of the comedians were a bust and instead of realizing it was their jokes that were bombing they chose to blame the audience. The amount of insecurity that was projected on to us not being a "lively enough" or "entertained enough" audience was cringe to say the least. Two very embarrassingly desperate comedians even went so far as to insult our facial expressions as if us not laughing was our fault. We drove over two hours with the intention of enjoying ourselves and having fun. It was very disappointing to say the least. If we weren't laughing it's because the comedians needed more practice in delivering and experience overall. We stayed through the night for both shows. The first show's presenter did a pretty good job keeping the audience involved and the energy alive, although only three of the comedians in the entire show made us laugh. The second show's presenter was a definite DOUBLE D. Desperate and dull. Our lack of response to her painfully self centered set and interaction with us was so that she decided to take it out on the audience in an almost tantrum like Manner. Audience response teaches you which jokes work. It's important to use that experience and information to better hone whatever skill you have rather than to attack your audience. We all start somewhere and it's nothing to be ashamed of but insulting people flat out without even the set up or follow up of a joke is an indication of where your "career" is headed. Confidence is key however talking down to your audience is not the way to win them over or gain support. The comedian who joked about never winning a fight with his girlfriend... You were very funny. Clearly the most experienced comedian of the night between both shows and your ease on the stage and engagement with all of us on top of the responses you were getting from the audience was a clear sign that you are going places my friend. "Doorman" who was also a comedian in the show, you were actually my favorite. I realize you are just starting out but if you're this funny in the very beginning I am confident in your future and I am looking forward to being in your audience again. The comedian who bragged about opening for John legend and then raged on everyone for bombing your set and stating that we "didn't matter because you performed for thousands at a time"... Go home. The only thing that was close to a joke during your presence on that stage was your grossly entitled confidence being that there was nothing noticable to back it. And lastly...koffman... Cough cough. 😐🥱🤫 A formal and extremely detailed review on the show will be published and available on all platforms soon but for now, this has been my quick and...

We went here for NYE. Every comedy show I’ve been to, I usually get a chance to find a seat. Not the best seat necessarily but a seat nonetheless. This place had 10 seats total downstairs, about 5 upstairs from where you could see the stage. Around 60-80 people waiting outside. We were told that we could stand the whole night or sit in the narrow steps to the upstairs (I suppose it’s not a fire hazard?!). They also kept telling us to order our drinks first and to order at least 2 per person. We couldn’t even stand in a corner, everywhere we positioned ourselves we found ourselves in the way of somebody walking by. We left before the show even started so this review is not about the quality of the performers as we didn’t even get the chance to see them. This review is specifically addressed to the owners/managers of this establishment as it felt like they were all pure greed and nothing about customer experience. It seems like most people were happy with their experience here so perhaps it’s fine on non busy nights…not spending another cent here...

I paid for tickets in advance to ensure my friends and I would have seats. Unfortunately we didn't arrive until about 15 minutes before the show and after ordering our required drinks, the 20 or so seats downstairs were full. All they could offer us was upstairs seating where we could watch the performance on a TV. Not even tables to put our drinks on so we could clap. Not worth going out and paying to watch a show on TV... Seats should be guaranteed if you are paying in advance and arrive before the show. Great performers and...

The Function Comedy Club was hella fun. Easy to find, huge bar area, romantic atmosphere, dark and moody, bartender guy is handsome and bartender girl has the cutest look. We ordered drinks and they were both effing delicious. We saw maybe 8-10 comedy acts, and it was a fun night. The Function is the 1st black-owned comedy club in the Bay area. Fun space, fun night! Spring Mule Thai Me Up Colada - outstanding flavor!!!

We were there for the Valentine's comedy show for 2/14 @ 9pm and the event was waaaay oversold, which can be a safety issue. It also started 1 hour late and you couldn't even listen because of the amount of people. I will never ever come back here again. People even started leaving due to how crowded it got and because we couldn't see anything. There's not enough places to seat people either.
