As with most hotels this is an old one. We had a hard time finding it in the dark because the signage was poorly lit. It was nice having free parking and a security guard was on duty (always nice to see in SF). The view was good, the Inn overlooks the Shrine of St. Francis, St.s Peter and Paul Catholic Church, and Coit Tower. The older gentleman was super friendly and accommodating, he "upgraded" us to two beds from a king for free (a slow night but nonetheless very nice). The elevator was janky and I thought we would get stuck. Right when we got off the elevator I thought we were in a horror movie as the hallway was poorly lit and very dingy, however, the hallway quickly led to the rooms, which are exposed to the outside. The rooms themselves were old and you could tell they have had a lot of use and abuse, however, it was decent and the beds comfortable. Thankfully, no bed bugs...haha. It was spacious but there was minimal furniture (no big deal for me). The bathroom tub was small and had some mold but not anything that would lead me to complain, especially for the rate. Overall, a decent place to stay if on a budget, the staff were friendly and place was good enough. One other thing, because the hallway where the rooms are located are completely exposed to the surrounding street, quite a bit of noise travels and you can easily hear cars driving by and people. Lastly, it was no big deal but unfortunately no...
Read moreFor a quick two-night stay in San Francisco, with a car, this is a perfect place to stay without parking fees. The location is smack in the middle of Chinatown, a block from Little Italy, and a couple blocks from financial district. There are eatery choices galore (as well as cocktail bars), and bus stops nearby for transportation. Trolley stop was a few blocks away. It was clean, we felt safe, our car felt safe and the staff was very pleasant and helpful. The room is average size, very retro feel. There is a small closet across from a small vanity, with a shower/toilet room off it. The room we stayed in, had a full wall of glass windows (non-working slider door) that looked out to the street, with a view of Coit tower and the surrounding area. The walls are a bit thin, and we could hear the party boys arrive back to their room with lots of laughter, but quieted down w/o having to be addressed. Also, the garbage trucks later into the evening were heard in the room, but with the right attitude it adds the ambiance of staying in the middle of a big city. The bed is not the most comfortable and the pillows a bit hard. However, for the price and feeling secure, it was all acceptable. Upon request, they allowed us to remain parked in their lot as we visited the area for a couple more hours after checkout. Would recommend this motel to anyone that is not coming with high-standards, and up for...
Read more9/10?...San Francisco is dotted with these older and little independent motels and inns throughout the city all of which are dated, could use TLC, and some seem a bit creepy! I was a bit hesitant, but the recent Tripadvisor and Yelp reviews were favorable and I decided to go for it...and it was only $120/night! Thanks to all those whom wrote reviews!||PROS:|-FREE PARKING|-EXCELLENT LOCATION! Right between Little Italy and Chinatown, and you could easily walk to Union Square and Fisherman's Wharf. Coit Tower is nearby, but it's steep! You got bars, shops and eateries all around.|-FREE PARKING|-CHEAP(at least on a random Sunday)|-Fridge, big LCD TV, Coffee Maker, surprisingly comfortable and supportive bed(seemed very new!)|-Clean Room|-FREE PARKING...did I mention that yet?|-Friendly desk staff.||CONS:|-Small and dated rooms and bathrooms.|-Larger tourists may find the standing only shower a challenge. Again, this is an older hotel, built when Americans were smaller in general.|-Definitely a "No" if you're planning on a "romantic" weekend...but if you're younger this probably won't stop either of you.||Again, I can't stress enough that the location is really good! So many things in walking distance...perfect if you're doing some night...
