This is probably one of the best Marriot properties I have stayed at for some time, and I am very glad I was able to spend two nights here. ||Very close to the SJC airport, but that wasn't why I choose it, it was a recommendation from my company. ||||Not sure exactly when this hotel was built, but it must have been fairly recently as everything feels new, fresh and clean. I love my room with a little kitchenette, plenty of space, good layout and of course a comfortable bed. Note these rooms have a full size refrigerator and a cooktop, so one could prepare simple meals here if desired. ||||The bathroom has motion detection for the lighting, but it will go out after a while so it pays to turn on the additional mirror lighting. The bathroom was probably the only weak point of this room - while new, there were some poor design choices: the dial for the water is at the opposite end of the long, rectangular shower than the head. Likewise the soap and shampoo conditioning bottles meaning you have to leave the stream of water to adjust the temperature or get soap. ||Furthermore, the shower head is not adjustable and the pressure was so-so. The toilet sounded like an airplane toilet when flushing, scared the cr*p out of me the first time. Minor gripes really, I would take this bathroom any day over the Best Western I stayed at the other night. ||||Now, onto the breakfast. Umm, yeah. They are going for a super healthy approach which I see - but I sorely missed the bacon/sausages and hash browns. There is a limited selection of cereals, nice fresh fruit and there is a chef, but it seems like he/she can only make one dish: on Sunday it was dry pancakes, on Monday it was a (delicious) egg whites zucchini omelette. For being America, there was surprisingly good coffee from a high quality machine, available 24 hours. Nice that Element are using proper cutlery and have a nice selection of juices. ||||A very inviting pool and jaccuzi which I did not find time to try, along with the fitness center. There is an outdoor patio area with tables .. all in all, a nice spot. ||||All of the staff I encountered were excellent and helpful. Special mention to Kulit (sorry for the spelling) along with Xiadie (Sara) who helped me with a package I was expecting. ||||If I am ever in San Jose I will book here again. Not super cheap, but well worth...
Read morePristine, beautiful hotel in a great location with fabulous amenities and exceptionally friendly staff. I saw a 2 star review for this hotel and cannot understand how it could have been rated so low. Do competitors pay people to trash their competition? This hotel is truly fantastic. I will look for an Element before any other hotel from now on. My only hope is that they are all this wonderful. While it is fabulous, I can’t call it perfect (I have yet to find a perfect hotel in my budget); there are things that could be added or improved. As I tend to find with every hotel I visit, the walls are thin. I could hear the tv in the room next to us and loud footsteps from above. Luckily, the noise from other rooms ended by the time I went to bed. The complimentary breakfast is pretty good. I found the hot breakfast options to be slightly lacking. For example, egg options were limited to mini, plain egg frittatas and there are no meat options - bacon, sausage, or ham would have been a great addition. The espresso machine is awesome and I could not get enough of the fresh, ice cold citrus/mint infused water. The rooms are exceptionally clean, beautiful, spacious, and comfortable. I don’t know if every room comes with a Kitchenette, but ours was fully stocked with dishes and cookware and the small refrigerator was a great size (plenty of room - much better than the typical mini fridge). The beds are good quality and comfortable, but pillows are on the flat side. Those who prefer a thick or firm pillow may struggle to get comfortable. I found myself wishing for a full size mirror and hand soap as our rom had neither. The fitness center overlooks the pool and the equipment is new. You’ll find several aerobic machines, a rack of free weights, a few resistance machines, mats, and medicine balls. A foam roller would be a great addition. Even though there are things that could make it even better, this hotel is well worth the rate. It deserves five stars...
Read moreGot in late after a long international flight. I was told only 3 rooms were available and somehow they decided to put me in a handicap one by the elevator and ice machine. I went back to the lobby to ask for one not so close because I really needed some sleep after not getting any for 24hrs. I was moved one story up, but right above the previous one, so still next to the ice machine and elevator. Luckily, I was so tired, I was able to sleep without much disturbance until the morning when doors were banging. The room was a decent size and the bed was very comfortable... But then again, a cardboard box would have been good at this point. It appeared to be clean, but my shoes kept sticking to the floor. That was a bit icky for me. I don't walk barefoot in any hotel, but this one was a huge flag for me due to how sticky it was. The rest wasn't too bad, although the location was very close to the airport, so the sound wasn't the best. The good was free coffee and lattes. The bad was you had to pay for water. Most hotels provide at least one free. They have filtered water in each room, but I don't trust those. I have no idea what they use tp filter or how often it's cleaned. To me, it's a petri dish in the making. The roo. A have a frig, microwave, stove top, sink, and dishwasher. I was surprised by this. I guess I missed it when making the reservation. It was nice to be able to make my own oatmeal for breakfast so cr there was no way I was going to make it for the free breakfast that ended at 9:30. After staying in numerous hotels over the last 2.5 weeks, I was surprised how early this ended. All others I stayed at ended at 10:30 or 11. But that's europe for you. They actually care about their clients. This felt like a money machine that lacked any real customer experience consideration. But to be fair, it looks like it caters to business people vs...
