DO NOT STAY HERE! This is a long review because we had so many problems so the cliff notes are this....they only had 5 rooms for us even though we booked and paid for 8 more than two months in advance, no hot water in any of the rooms for the entire stay, one of the rooms had a leak in the ceiling that poured down water at 4 am, and my friend had money stolen out of his room. While we were arguing for a refund, there was another family that was waiting their turn to complain about their reservation too. They actually seemed to have gotten screwed over even worse.
I came here for a bachelor party with 9 other friends. We had booked, reserved, and paid for 8 rooms with 10 beds including a suite with bunk beds. When we got there they only had 5 rooms with 6 beds and not the suite with the bunkbeds. This reso was made over two months in advance and my friend who made it was in constant contact with the hotel to make sure everything was fine. Turns out they overbooked the bunk bed suite to THREE separate reservations over the course of that weekend and didnt tell us until we got there. All they did was bring in extra mattresses so people had to sleep in the kitchen and on the floor in the bedroom.
On top of that, the suite we did get had a leak in the ceiling over the bed that the bachelor was sleeping in and there was a stream of water pouring down at 4 in the morning. Since there's no workers there after a certain time, nobody even came to look at it until 11 the next day.
None of the rooms had hot water, so we all took cold showers the entire time we were there. AND one of my friends had over $500 taken from his room. When we checked out I asked Clark, the manager that was dealing with us, what the compensation was going to be and he couldnt give me a number until he talked with the owners. We had been having problems with this place for four days at this point so how did he not already talk to them and come up with a number?? No way was i going back to the states with just a promise to "make it right" so after arguing with him for over an hour, AND calling the cops on the hotel because of the money that was stolen, they finally agreed to give us some money back although not nearly enough. While we were arguing, another family was yelling at Clark about their reservation too. Apparently they were supposed to get a room with 3 beds and a kitchenette. The daughter showed me their room and it was literally one bunkbed in an otherwise completely empty room. I actually felt worse for them.
Even one of the other workers said that the owners are new and dont know what they're doing. Bottom line, there are plenty of better, nicer places to stay in the same price point, that wont give your reservation away, leak water on your head, only have cold water in the showers, or literally steal your money out of...
Read moreIf this was advertised as a hostel, honestly, I wouldn't have complaints other than the price seeming high for hostel accommodations. But it's listed as a hotel, and in that case, there are definite issues.
The walls are so, so thin. You can hear every word of people's conversations and phone calls, even when they are just using a normal tone. This of course means that there is very little privacy and that the noise is an issue. It's great that they provide ear plugs (a real necessity), but when the walls are this thin, even ear plugs do little to make it less loud. They also put a pool table in the hallway where rooms are located, which might be a nice amenity if the hotel had actual room-grade walls...but it does not.
On our last night the power went out (not totally unexpected in PR) and when we woke up, there was no power and also no running water in our taps. No one from the hotel had left any messages or information for guests. Other than some night lights in the halls, people were on their own to figure things out. Just know that generators are not a thing at this particular spot and be prepared with back-up power for phones, etc...and make sure to have bottled water on hand.
If you're traveling alone and it's very easy for you to fall asleep and stay asleep, this might be a good option for you.
Positives: the people who work at and run the hotel are friendly, the beds are comfortable, the location is convenient, the rooms at check-in are clean,...
Read moreThe first night we realized we had to walk at least 30 steps before getting to the room. When we got ready for bed I noticed hair all on the sheets đĄ. Apparently it wasn't cleaned. We turned the TV on, the volume didn't go up so it was a struggle the whole stay to hear the tv. We asked an employee (Carlos) to change the batteries or something. He said he'd come but never did. The room wasn't what my husband thought he booked. Based on the pictures he thought he was getting a suite. We were there to celebrate Valentine's Day. Talked to the manager, (Clark) about it. He apologized that the pics couldn't be changed. The water was not hot every time we took a shower. When we brought it to their attention he said something about the size of the water heater and everyone using itđ¤đ¤. The place has potential but a long way to go. In my opinion they should get the hot water issue taken care of, the lobby ready, elevator fixed then open for business. It's supposed to be no smoking but you could smell weed coming from one of the rooms daily. There's a lot of abandoned buildings on that street. We saw the police several times during the stay. We went to a restaurant Tastado it had a good breakfast. We plan to visit again but not stay there. Lastly our last night someone finally got the tv up but then it...
