La Placita de Santurce is the heart and soul of nightlife in San Juan! During the day, it’s a vibrant market filled with fresh produce, local goods, and a charming sense of community. But once the sun goes down, it transforms into one of the liveliest spots in the city.

The energy here is unmatched—music fills the air, people are dancing in the streets, and the restaurants and bars surrounding the plaza offer delicious food and drinks. Whether you’re in the mood for authentic Puerto Rican dishes, a refreshing mojito, or just want to dance to salsa or reggaeton, this is the place to be.

The mix of locals and tourists makes it feel authentic yet welcoming. Everyone is there to have a good time, and the vibe is contagious. I’d recommend coming early to grab dinner and then staying as the nightlife picks up—it’s an experience you won’t want to miss!

Just a heads-up: it can get crowded, so plan accordingly, and parking in the area might take a little effort. But once you’re there, you’ll quickly forget about any hassle. Highly recommend if you’re looking for a fun and unforgettable night out...

Nasty Employee or Administrator. I called because I am arriving to Puerto Rico on Good Friday. I realize that this is a Holy Day. My simple question was if they would be open. Rather than say no, I got chewed out and told if I was "a true religious person, I wouldn't be asking that question. That if you work then you can't go to Church." His response was certainly not the response I had expected. I told the man that I indeed understood that and also keep this as a holy day. Rather than going to a restaurant and making many people work to feed me, my thought was I could buy local fresh products and cook for myself. Oh, by the way, my parents are from Puerto Rico. This is not how they taught me to speak to anyone. After being talked to so rudely I will likely never go to the Plaza del Mercado in...

If you want to dance all night long, this is the place for you. Plenty of places around to buy all the alcohol you could ever drink, but it's an all night street party with plenty of people dancing in the streets until the wee hours. My brother and I had an amazing time, dancing, drinking, and talking with all the people around us. We ended up chatting for awhile with Mike and Venus from New Jersey while we danced with anyone and everyone around us. It was probably the most fun I've had in years, though I ended up sore like crazy the next day because I haven't danced for 3 hours straight in 20 years. Absolutely worthwhile and I...

This place is incredible. I randomly stumbled upon this cigar shop while heading to La Placita and was intrigued. Inside is a huge collection of cigars, complete with a smoking lounge and fully stocked bar. Sitting outside puffing on a stogie and sipping Scotch was pure bliss! In the evening there was live jazz and a great eclectic crowd. The owners appeared to be in the audience and were very hospitable. Definitely check this place out if you are in San Juan and want a little break from the hustle and bustle!

Although I wasn't able to experience La Placita during the day and enjoy the variety of fresh fruits typically available, I did have the opportunity to explore its vibrant nightlife. The area comes alive after dark, with numerous bars offering a range of music genres to suit diverse tastes. One of the highlights was watching people dance classic salsa in the streets—a lively and culturally rich display that added to the area's dynamic atmosphere. I loved it!
