Shekamoo is a central coast gem. I have been here twice now, and both times I have found something new that I have been impressed with. The first time, I did not know what to expect from the food I had the Koobideh kabob plate, the kabob was perfect but for me the star of the experience was the presentation of the food, the bronzed tableware and the interaction with the staff during the ordering process. The person taking the order was patient and knowledgeable, and he took the time to answer all our questions. The second time here, we had more time to enjoy the food and experience. Again, the staff and owner are professionals. While waiting for our food, I watched the owner go above and beyond answering a customer's questions and explaining options on the menu. All the staff calls each other Chef, which isn't a big deal, but it shows a level of professionalism to the craft, which is refreshing. We waited 20+ minutes for or food, which is not a long time to wait for the quality of food presented. The owner apologized for the delay. The presentation of the food is top-notch. Look at the pictures. The taste is reflected by the quality presentation. I know this review is long. TLDR, Go here get great service...
Read moreShekamoo Grill is my FAVORITE PLACE to get food in slo. All of the food there is sooooo flavorful (it’s nice to go somewhere that actually uses spices). Everyone there is so nice and put up with all of my questions when I first went to help me get exactly what I wanted. They are super open to questions and clarifications if you’re feeling undecided. Also as a college student who is balling on a budget it is really nice that they have varied portion sizes to fit your budget. I usually get the bowl because it’s 6 dollars cheaper than the plate and it’s plenty of food!
My favorite things to get are the koobideh (I’m not really a meat person but I love it), the loaded potatoes (TO DIE FOR), and the chocolate pistachio cheesecake. For an order-at-the-counter spot, it sure feels like I’m dining at a restaurant.
I love bringing my girlfriend and my friends here because a lot of them are gluten free, dairy free, and/or vegetarian and the menu is super friendly to dietary restrictions.
Bonus! The owners are such kind people who you can tell really care about food, culture, and sharing with the community.

Read moreThis has been a favorite of mine ever since moving to SLO and attending the Thursday Night Farmers Market. I went there again last week for their overly delicious Kabob Dish and had accidentally set down a box of brand new AirPod replacements from the Apple Store. I happily ate my melt in your mouth Kabobs but realized when I got home that my box was gone. Fast forward 2 days I go to their brick and mortar store at the San Luis Ranch Market and order another delicious dish, their new Beef Stew and asked them, if by any chance they had found my box...well they did and brought them out to me with my food. It just shows that their employees really care, as they said they'd seen me before (each week) and hoped I'd come back this week. I just love Shekamoo! The food is of very high quality and the taste/spices are just delicious...but the staff are just as excellent and every time I go back it never disappoints. Just keeps getting better as...
