It’s going to be a bit long, because I’m not a review person, but this deserves a review… If I ever come back to San Marcos, I would definitely stay in this hotel! The hotel has a great location and super easy to get in and out and jump on the highway, it even has the outlets across from it. A little sad that it doesn’t offer complimentary breakfast like other hotels of this chain, but no biggie. They do sale muffins, coffees and stuff like that and if not, there is plenty around to go have breakfast as well, I really just missed the coffee in the mornings basically. After all it’s a nice hotel and also very clean, bathroom was super comfy and love that it has a shower instead of a tub. We didn’t get our room done every day because we didn’t wanted to, I had the Do Not Disturb sign on the door, but they were cleaning rooms every single day, we did get our towels changed the second second day though, because I traded the used ones for clean ones with the girl cleaning the rooms… But the staff here is what actually want to talk about, they are OUTSTANDING! I came here for a Baseball Tournament with my son, the morning of the game I was looking for the ice machine to fill up our coolers and water bottles with ice, and a gentleman that works here, very nice guy saw us and when he saw that I needed ice for the coolers too, he offered to fill them up for me, so he took them to the kitchen with him and he did… that was the first thing. never had that in any other hotel before. Then the next day we came back from 2 games and I need to wash my sons shirts for Sunday, I went to ask to buy soap and they said it was complementary for guests, so they gave me soap and conditioner for the clothes, also another awesome thing is that washer and dryer are free for guests, because I have payed in other hotels even from this same chain, because this chain is what we always or mostly use, in order to use the washer & dryer, so that was a nice surprise, but when I went to the laundry room their washing machine was out of service. I was sad and little disappointed because I was not going to be able to wash his uniforms, so I was figuring out what to do or even look for a coin laundry. On my way out a gentleman came up to me and explained the washing machine situation, that due to a broken part it wasn’t working and that they are waiting for it to arrive. Well, what do I do now? I need to wash the only 2 shirts he has… I thought of going to the Residence Inn next door… maybe they will let me use theirs? But I was told by the girl that I asked if she thought that they would let Meuse their laundry room that they are still not open. But she was super nice and kind and offered to wash it for in their laundry, of course she told me that she was going to ask first to see if it was possible… And to my surprise they said it was ok and they took my bag of dirty uniforms and washed them for me. What a nice and kind gesture! After a while I went down to the lobby to get the clothes and they told me that it was going into the dryer, to give them like 30 more mins and if I wanted they would call the room so I could go get it when ready. So went back up to my room and when got upstairs the gentleman from the laundry room was coming back from my room from dropping of my son’s uniforms, he told me that he had given them to him already and that they were in the room. What a great service and surprised, all the clothes was all and even folded. These people really go above and beyond and are willing to do anything in their hands to try to help a guest. I’m really thankful that they did all this for me and with the best of the attitudes and always a smile in their faces! So if you ever coming to San Marcos,...
Read moreMy sister's and I planned our weekend getaway for weeks and we were excited to be staying over night at The Courtyard in San Marcos. When we arrived, there were no luggage carts for us to use, and we had to resort to caring everything up to the rooms ourselves. Luckily a gentleman from maintenance came and assisted my sister who uses a cane and has difficulty walking. What upset me was that I had reserved two rooms, and requested connecting rooms. My reservation included one room with a king bed and sofa bed, the other room had two queen beds. This was a perfect set up because we are six ladies all together. Sadly I was not given connecting rooms, in fact the rooms were down the hall from each other which made our time together very difficult and inconvenient, on top of that, we were given two rooms with King beds in them! I told him that I had reserved one room with two queen beds but he stated that each room had a sofa bed and that that was the same thing as queen beds which is not true. My sister's are in their late sixties and mid fifties so this arrangement was terrible for us. When we entered the room, we noticed that the sofa bed is oddly shaped and unless you're a small child, you are not going to fit in it. Not to mention that the mattresses were horrific in both rooms!! In one room the bar that pulls up the sofa bed was sticking up in my sister's face so my she had to use the cushions of the sofa and lay on top of them so that the bar wouldn't hit her in the face, but her feet hung out from the bottom! My other sister in the other room had similar issues and the sofa bed was broken and arched, she was in terrible pain in the morning and neither of them had any sleep. It was heart-breaking for me because I wanted them all to have the best experience possible, and that's why I had taken them to the Marriott, to be safe and enjoy a restful night of sleep but sadly that was not the case. One of the rooms was also very hot. The a/c was not blowing and it made for a long, hot uncomfortable night. So needless to say, our hotel experience there was terrible and I ended up giving my sister's their share of the money they had pitched in, I couldn't in good conscious take it knowing the negative experience they had had there. So sadly, I cannot recommend it to anyone traveling through San Marcos, Tx. Don't get me wrong, the hotel is beautiful, but if sleep is important to you, and having your reservations honored is important to you too, then I recommend you stay...
Read moreWe decided to go on a little weekend get-away and take our 18 month old to The Children's Museum close by and then to Wonder World the next day. Our toddler is sensitive to high heat and the sun so I chose this hotel solely based off of the advertisement on Booking.com that claimed they had an indoor pool (and outdoor pool). Once we got there and checked in, I asked about the indoor pool and found out they didn't have one. Internally, I was pissed, but discussed a cancellation and refund of my stay since I had a backup hotel in mind that I would've chosen if all hotels had only outdoor pools. The hotel employee, a younger female with a nose ring, a tattoo of a cat face on her right arm and very calm and empathetic demeanor, explained how she couldn't do that since my booking was through a 3rd party. But she did offer $10 coupons for the bistro/breakfast for each in our party (3) and added 1000 points to my rewards account. She also asked if I'd like a later check out time but since we had an appointment at 1 at Wonder World, it wasn't necessary. The room looked nice and the bathroom shower (walk-in) was convenient, however, it was slightly mildewy, the shower pressure was pretty low and the microwave wouldn't close all the way and the light stayed on. The bed was very comfortable as it made my wife unexpectedly fall asleep minutes after settling in. The hotel had enough parking for us on this weekend and was walking distance to several places to eat and shop. We went to the pool (mostly clean) at sunset where only one other small family was there but if any more were there, it would've been crowded since the pool isn't that large and there's no hot tub or separate children's pool. We slept well with no disturbances and utilized our breakfast bistro coupons the next morning where only 3 others were...so it was quiet. The lady at the counter was courteous and quick with our orders and Bistro Joe came to our table to ensure everything was good and had a small, friendly discussion with us. With all things considered, what saved this hotel from a 2 star review was the customer service from the employee with the nose ring/cat arm tattoo (never got her name). The amount we paid for this stay wasn't justified with everything considered and the false advertisement was my largest issue. With that said, if the rates lowered about $30-$40/room, it'd be fair. (A special thanks for the service lady with the nose ring and cat tattoo on...
