Extended Stay America Select Suites- Salt Lake City - Union Park — Hotel in Sandy

Hi there, Lately the wifey and I are laughing at the magnitude of some thing at work. The moral of the story is don't believe the modern lies. One can never be your boss if they have NO KNOWLEDGE. When a company puts these fake hires in and then doesn't listen to the real employees who know, go because they are doomed. Why? Simply because what? They have NO KNOWLEDGE! The beauty of the work drama was finding ESA here. This design by someone with knowledge was perfect because I ended up having to stay not for days but weeks. Weeks, so this place has a kitchen, microwave, refrigerator, all hotel stuff no ice but ice cube tray. Additionally they will give you pots, cups, toaster, all kinds imaginable that my wife deals with. Plenty of space 2 desks. This was a perfect solution and i will always love this place. The laundry room takes cards, and every morning as far as I had seen you come down and they have coffee, little oatmeal packs, extras. All of this for less than a garbage hotel. Since my wife tells me I am fair and honest let's cover the bad. I've noticed of course they are under staffed. For this and the following reason, they can get frustrated. But I know they are good people and have done more than any hotel this price. Next, I don't know the reason, I don't even want to know it, don't care. The result is there's some scum here and there and you see them and you know they're not paying they don't even work. And since they are scum they might do something that no rational person would ever ever do because they were told not to by their father when a tiny child. For example: when your existence is to be a little weirdo in shorts walking around with a little speaker. Do not place it on the carbon fiber spoiler of the big combat veterans Mercedes. Right? Well anyway I'm not worried because I know the only thing they understand is fear of getting hurt. Badly. So I'll let him know..but a lady with no man or a man-bun. They might get more feisty. But yeah, no common sense. Finally!! The only place I have ever witnessed that not only do they not trip on pets...but the crew love pets and they're around. Mostly little doggies. So I've stayed in any kind of hotel but this one really was the most accommodating. Thank You. And if some entity pays you to house one of these 0 return on investment people.... just say NO. Not all money is good money okay? Don't be that greedy, just wait for a real customer. One of those fools has the potential to scare away real customers, hanging around, not working, doing something a 5 year old...

DO NOT EVER STAY HERE!!!! I would give this place a Negative rating if I could!!! We stayed there for 7 days & and nights. The 2nd night we were there a gentleman pulled the fire alarm because the US marshals were there to apprehend this person due to him being a wanted dangerous fugitive!!!! He then Barged in to a the room of a single mother and locked her in the bathroom, with her infant screaming in the room. Then hid himself in the mattress. So the US Marshals went in with tear gas and pepper bombs to lure the suspect out. None of that worked so they went in with extreme force and automatic weapons While the hotel was still full of guests and families of all sorts. It was a horrible nightmare! They still wouldn't refund our money after this horrible incident and we were too afraid to stay but had nowhere else to go! Then the 2nd night we were there, there were 9 more police vehicles there . They were there because 2 vehicles had been stolen out of their parking lot! Then 2 nights later, there were more than a dozen police vehicles in the parking lot! But for that incident I don't know why they were there! Don't ever ever take children to this establishment!!!!!!!!!!!!! It is Not a safe place! They house homeless and state assisted people on housing lists. This place was the dirtiest, vile, most disgusting sham of a hotel I have ever been in!!! They claim to offer clean and sanitized dishes and other kitchen items. But, everything we got was dirty and had hard rotting food and finger prints all over Everything. I had to re-wash Everything Myself. They claim to offer breakfast, but really, it is only old coffee and stale old granola bars that are offered! They don't bring anything to your room. They make you come to the font desk and pick it up yourself! This is more of a nasty hostel type of environment than a hotel. The staff are angry, agitated, and rude in every interaction! There is dog Poo all over the small patch of grass and even on the cement entryways. The hallways smell like old Horrible Cat pee and poo, plus throw up and old trash. There are always dogs that bark at all hours of the day and night. They have you put your trash outside the doors of your room. So, there are regularly bags of smelly foul trash lining the hallway!!! They Only offer housekeeping services if you stay there more than 7days in a row. Then it's only offered one time every 7days.

I cannot express my displeasure clearly enough... While the staff was friendly and courteous, the quality of my stay was severely impacted by the terrible upkeep (or lack thereof) of my room!

No I did not find bedbugs... thank god. But I would not be surprised if they had them, because it is clear NOBODY is performing quality control inspections of these rooms.

Mine had women's foundation covering the bathroom counter, portions of the kitchen counter, and little powder trails all over the room. Based on this alone, it is clear that NOBODY vacuumed, wiped, or sanitized the room prior to my stay.

I was also greeted with a non functional toilet (which I fixed... you're welcome) and many of the claimed amenities of my room missing. Most important to me was the coffee maker!! I have never, ever, ever stayed at even the cheapest motel without having a small single-serve coffee pot in the room. Yes, they advertise that it is included on their website (click the website button on the google page).

Also, their "grab and go breakfast" was a complete joke! Breakfast implies some options, or at least typical breakfast food like cereal, muffins, or something of the like. THEY HAD A BASKET OF NATURE VALLEY BARS!!!!! Seriously, if you are going to advertise a breakfast you'd better actually provide it. It was nice of them to actually provide coffee in the lobby.

The exterior door closest to my room was also nonfunctional (key card access) so you could exit but not re-enter. The sign claims that there were 'electrical' issues with the door, but judging by the wanton destruction of the key access point outside, it looks like a druggie was attempting to break in... not reassuring.

WiFi did not allow me to stay connected, and I could only use my internet browser. I could not access internet with any of my apps, like Facebook, Twitter or Instagram.

Just to reiterate, I had no issues with the staff manning the desk. He was very polite, efficient and courteous. He answered all my questions and actually seemed to enjoy his job. However, due to the extremely poor upkeep in this hotel, I will never, ever, ever stay here again, or any ESA. I will also be deterring my business partners, affiliates and associates away from these facilities in the future until they can get a corporate strategy under way to deal with...
