previously had a 5 star review for the delivery guys of top shelf. When they deliver your cabinets they request a 5 start review and tell you that they get a bonus when you give the review. I am retracting my 5 stars. While the product is decent (3 of my cabinets are cracked and waiting replacements) in quality, the customer service is crap. The timeframe that is given of 7-10 day turn around is 100% inaccurate in my experience. I ordered sage green ( a very popular color right now) cupboards for a small kitchen original date for delivery was set 3 weeks after I ordered and paid for half of my order. I got a call that my cabinets were being put together and that they would be delivered on Monday or Tuesday and that I needed to now pay the full amount. I did that . Drove 45 mins to meet delivery guys at my new house (that IM not living in) to be told that half my kitchen is back ordered and he does not know when it will be in. I was not notified of this back order when I paid the remaining balance due on my cupboards. When you do an order you are given a "text" line with operations and all messages are to be sent to this text line. the text line does not respond to you in a timely matter. I was told they did not know when the other cupboards would be shipped. When i say half my kitchen I mean my uppers were there, part of my lowers a complete corner cabinet was missing and my island cupboard missing and a piece ordered wrong. I continued to send texts to this thread i messaged my sales rep who told me he was no longer a sales rep and basically not his issue to talk to someone else. I was told by the person in the store that they had to change manufacturers and that they are having a problem getting there items on time. operations told me that the shipment was LOST and manufacturer had to ship out a new shipment of my stuff. my cupboards finally came a month+ later. With more cracked cabinets and still not the correct size for a garbage bin. I asked when the cracked items/ wrong pantry fronts/ wrong garbage bin would be sent out and they said "MAYBE" 4 weeks. I also was upset as I asked for roll outs with the pantry and they were never received, I was given a seasoning roll out cupboard on a lower cabinet that I never asked for. When i requested these drawers they informed me that I did not pay for them they are not on the order form ( i never received a print out of my parts order so i cannot confirm this) I contacted someone named Peter who basically said his guys need more training because i should have been informed of all of this. He said we may have to swallow our pride and I will pay for half and he will pay for half of the pantry roll out trays. To which i honestly replied with I dont want to give this company any more money than I already have. The lack of communication between operations text thread and the warehouse and manufacturer is a joke, the sales person did not go over the order to make sure we had everything that we discussed and even when asked about it he denied having put it on the contract but i specifically asked for the items. again lack of communication. I am right now i think still 2 more weeks till i get my proper pieces for my kitchen delivered, though i highly doubt it will be in that timeframe If we are going from past experience. No compensation has been offered for me having to pay an extra month of storage fees and rent at a different house because I am not living at my current house that im paying a mortgage for. I have notified Top shelf of my situation from the very beginning and I understand some things are out of there hands. I feel like I am a very unsatisfied customer who reached out to have a problem solved on more than one occasion to be told that they will get there guys more training. While i appreciate the more training and communication should be improved, that's not my problem. I paid thousands of dollars for the delay of my project and was never informed, then told I never ordered certain items that I know I asked for. If you have project with a deadline...

I’m not someone who takes pleasure in posting negative reviews. In fact, I usually avoid them. But I can’t stay silent and allow this company to continue doing to others what they did to me. The emotional, financial, and physical toll they inflicted on my family is something no one should have to endure.
I hired Top Shelf Cabinets and their flooring division, Utah Flooring and Design, in October 2023 to renovate my kitchen and install new flooring throughout my home. What was promised to be a 3–5 day project has spiraled into a 17-month nightmare I’m still trapped in.
The owners of both companies have refused to finish the work they were paid to complete. To make matters worse, they’ve lied to the financial institution handling our dispute, falsely claiming the project is finished—when it’s not. They’ll say and do whatever it takes to get paid, even if it means exploiting a single mother and walking away without a shred of accountability or remorse.
From day one, they were disorganized, unprofessional, and at times downright reckless. Workers frequently showed up late—or not at all—and some arrived in a compromised sober state. As a result, my kitchen island was installed incorrectly, cabinet nails broke through the wood causing cracks, and several materials were ordered incorrectly. The craftsmanship was appalling: misaligned cabinetry, cracked panels, and the back of the island was completely exposed and remains unfinished to this day.
This experience took a devastating toll on my family. What should have been a joyful home improvement turned into a source of constant stress, anxiety, and emotional strain. I lost sleep. I missed over two weeks of work. My children were left without a safe kitchen, a functioning laundry room, or even a clean space to play. For more than six months, we lived in a dusty, hazardous construction zone—with exposed subflooring and no running water in the kitchen. And to make matters worse, this all unfolded during the holidays. While the owners were off taking vacations, my family was left to live in chaos, discomfort, and neglect.
There were exposed wires, cracked and splintered surfaces, and subflooring that caused actual injuries to my young children. The chaos in our home created daily tension, and the total lack of communication from the company only amplified our feelings of helplessness. I spent months chasing updates, demanding answers, and receiving none.
I’m still living with the emotional and financial aftermath of their negligence. No family should have to go through this.
My goal in sharing this review is simple: to warn others. If you value your money, your time, your peace of mind, and your family’s safety—stay far away from Utah Flooring and Design and Top Shelf Cabinets. They are an embarrassment to the industry. Their reviews on Google and the Better Business Bureau speak for themselves. This is not a company that makes mistakes and learns from them. This is a company that simply does not care.
Please—do not hire Utah Flooring and Design or Top Shelf Cabinets. You...
Read moreI'm going to break out in hives by writing this review because it was so stressful. Top Shelf was all promises unfulfilled, in time and merchandise. I was told in April the job would be done by the end of July (or I wouldn't have signed on because I had a timeline). Nephi was very nice and I trusted him that the job would be done on time. I ordered cabinets, drawers, countertops, and flooring, and the job was supposed to start in June. I ordered custom painted cabinets. It was a complete kitchen reno. Utah Flooring and Design was great and kept to their timeline, and even did the demo for the cabinets because Top Shelf couldn't do it. They would do well to disassociate themselves from Top Shelf. The cabinets came, but they weren't painted the custom color I provided for them. I questined that but they said they would paint after the install. I questioned that, too. That didn't make sense to me. Why would you install to only take them down and paint? They said they would paint in place. That didn't make sense to me either. The subcontractors who hung and placed the cabinets were great. The subcontractor who attached the drawers and cabinet doors didn't do a good job. Most of the drawers hang crooked. Then came more waiting. I called or texted all the time and got the Top 5 excuses every time, then nothing. Now it's September and the cabinets still weren't painted, and my pantry cabinet didn't have drawers. They subcontracted to put the drawers in the pantry cabinet, but brackets were missing for the last shelf. More phone calls and more excuses. Seriously? I finally hired a cabinet painter. He told me, in his thirty years of painting cabinets, he had never seen such cheap cabinets. They aren't wood. They're made in China. He said the drawer pulls wouldn't hold for very long and not to put any more than 20 pounds in them. They would have to be replaced. I looked online and the good ones are $45 each pair. I have 19 drawers. :( They finally sent a (good) subcontractor to finish the pantry drawer. While he was there, I pointed out how the cabinet drawers didn't fit well and were all skewed. He tried to fix the problem, but didn't have the time and said the drawer pulls weren't installed well and probably wouldn't hold up. Meanwhile, nothing but crickets from Top Shelf's project manager. I haven't called him again to find out when the cabinets would be painted because I think all the excuses have been used. I just sent them a certified letter with their final payment minus what I paid the cabinet painter. I got the feeling he was wondering when I was going to catch on that they weren't coming back. I finally got it. Buyer beware. These are cheap cabinets that aren't wood. They install with shoddy drawer pulls. They don't custom paint like they promised. If you want cheap cabinets, go for it, if you know how to fix them because they don't work. They were inexpensive. But you get what you pay for. I had to pay out of pocket to...
