The Marina Beach Motel is fantastic! First of all the grounds are lovely and well maintained. There is a grassy area with tables & chairs and a corn hole game. Free bicycle rentals (and the staff will provide baskets, locks & helmets upon request). The room was super clean and modern. Loved the rainfall shower head. They also provide shampoo, conditioner & body wash. Parking right in front of your room (or super close) so that’s very convenient. Staff is top notch! Super friendly and accommodating. From offering suggestions for things to do, to giving us some breakfast pastries the night before we checked out (since we were leaving at 5am). Free breakfast starting at 7:00am (coffee, juice, pastries, cereal, yogurt, fruit & microwaveable breakfast sandwiches). Free fresh baked chocolate chip cookies every afternoon (warm & delicious)! This adorable motel is within waking distance to Stearns Wharf and the beach. You can also walk to State St. for tons of shopping and restaurants. We were lucky enough to be there on Tuesday for the farmers market. Santa Barbara is a beautiful town. You won’t be disappointed in your stay at Marina Beach Motel. I highly recommend it and would stay there again in a heartbeat!

A lovely motel, clean and well cared for rooms, great staff, and Absolutely perfect location. We had a wonderful time in Santa Barbara thanks to the always available free bicycles (with helmets, baskets and locks) to take on the beautiful ocean front bike path. Just a minute or two walk to Cabrillo onto the ocean path, Stearn’s Wharf, the Marina, as well as the restaurants and shops and bars on State Street. The staff is always smiling and helpful. We never needed to drive. Everything is nearby and an easy walk or bike ride. And don’t miss the warm chocolate chip cookies in the afternoon in the office/ cafe.

Group of 6 girls coming from LA that stayed 1 night for bday celebrations! PERFECT location and cannot speak highly enough of the staff. I was worried about being on a first floor, but we felt so safe. Free breakfast included in stay, free bike rentals and free beach towel rentals. Parking was a dream. Anything we needed was just one quick ask away. The triple bedroom suite was perfect for our large group. So kind, so accommodating and we cannot wait to stay here again!!

REVIEW FOR MARINA BEACH MOTEL

Referrer to this motel as the moldy marina beach motel Sadly that issue is small in comparison to what I have to say. My service dog and I stayed here because my neighbor used dangerous herbicides that created drift. We were both ill from this an I have chemical sensitivity illness as did my dog. He had liver damage from it. When I booked my reservation with Nan the manager I trusted she understood my health issues well. I gave her the letter I carry from my md also regarding small traces of pesticides, mold, herbicides solvents and cleaners. Later I will post the mold pictures. But my biggest comment is that my dog Petey is dead now within weeks of staying here. We were at this motel on and off for about 5 weeks and I had pointedly asked Nan if they sprayed anything. Any bug spray, weed spray because of my health issues. In fact under the ADA a motel needs to accommodate you as best they can. Being honest would have been the best policy. She told me straight to my face that theynever use any sprays. They use bait traps for rats but no spray.

We had to move to another room as this one was booked for a weekend. That room the mold was the issue but this room we moved back in and my hands were on fire. My dog started having seizures and had diareha and vomiting. I had my herbicide symptom of chest pain and burning hands.

The front desk again affirmed that they did not use any kind of cide nothing. Nan calls me one morning to inform me that the owner wanted the maintence guy Sam to spray the entire lot (brick pavers) with round up about the time the epa was coming clean that roundup causes cancer. For us it was what we were trying to get away from. This was a stunning statement after Nan the manager told me on no uncertain terms did they spray anything. Apparently after reading the online reviews they do in fact spray ALL the rooms with ant spray ie fumigate. That is to quote the comments left by the owner. Fumigate. There were also management comments saying if you God forbid had any ants in between you could ask for a can of raid up at the front desk.

Ant spray is one of the most highly engineered pesticides because ants are so hard to kill. This motel is patently a liar. They jeapordized my service dog’s life and mine. They were on notice regarding my health issues and my dogs and why we were there. We were told we must move out because they were going to yet again spray round up all over the parking lot just outside the doors of the rooms.

If you do not mind people that lie, that poison you, that overcharge you for a moldy closet nasty attitude and none too bright except to charge your CC too much for the time you spent this is the place for you. In 30 years of living in Santa Barbara, and no I am not a trust fund and my daddy didn’t leave me his house, I worked to buy a house here. This is the worst motel hands down.

DATE VISITED: June 2025

DOG FRIENDLY: Yes!! And I appreciated that the room did not have a terrible odor (as some pet friendly hotels/motels do). They do not have an on-grounds potty area, so you will have to walk to the street side.

ARRIVAL: Staff were very friendly!!! The lobby was kept very clean and stocked on light refreshments. Staff were in communication prior to our arrival. If you arrive prior to 3pm, you are able to park and leave your luggage if your room is not ready.

PERKS/AMENITIES: A free continental breakfast comes with your stay (apples, banana, cereal, pastries, hard boiled eggs, burritos, coffee, juice). Filtered water machine! Don't forget your water canister! Free parking! Dog Friendly! Free bicycle rentals Free beach towel rentals Free Beach Surrey rental (I believe I only saw one when I went, so be sure to reserve it if you want to use it!) Quiet neighborhood and within walking distance to the beach (1 block away) and a short 5-10min walk to State St, where all the restaurants are.

ROOM: We stayed in the Cozy King room. The room was cozy, but the walls were thin. You could literally hear people chatting from next door (although muffled) and you can feel people walking. The room was mostly clean, but I did find a few hairs in the bathroom, a stain on the toilet, and some broken plastic piece hanging from behind the bathroom mirror. The bed was very comfortable (not too hard, not too soft) and there were plenty of pillows. There is a small refrigerator and microwave, as well a a Keurig machine, plenty of mirrors and lights, an ironing board and hair dryer. There is a ceiling fan, with several speed settings. There is also an a/c unit (only low/high setting) and can be pretty loud. Love that the rooms are non-smoking!!!

PARKING: Plenty of parking (limited to 1 car per room). It is one-way road, and can be pretty tight since the center is an outdoor lounge area. If you have a large truck or vehicle, you may want to park on the street (which may be difficult to find).

PRICING: The pet fee is $22/night. I also appreciate that they waive pet fees if you have a service animal/emotional support animal. Pricing per night was decent for SB, but still a bit high considering there is no pool/spa.

OVERALL: It is conveniently located and in a quiet...

This place is great! It’s right off the main road, but far enough away you don’t here the crazy traffic. It’s a cute little motel. They kept things very clean. We arrived a couple hours before check in and they were sanitizing and deep cleaning the room. I stayed there last weekend for a wedding in town. The staff is so accommodating. They seem very happy. They currently have a complimentary continental breakfast until 10:30 (it was quite the spread). They also have access to tea, coffee, and water through the day. It was nice to not have to find parking every time we wanted to go somewhere near by. We were able to rent beach towels, bikes, helmets, bike locks, and baskets for the bikes at any time while the main office was a open. Also offer free wifi, we had a tv in the room. I didn’t really get a chance to watch tv I was too busy enjoying the beach riding bikes around town in between wedding activities. The staff is super friendly. On day of check out we asked if we could check out and leave our car there while we walked and had brunch at the restaurant just around the corner. They happily allowed us to have our car there for hours after checking out. One of my friends staying in another room even left his jacket in the room and the hotel called to let him know. I don’t know many places that go out of there way to call after check for possible missing items.

It’s a short walk/bike to the beach and some stores near by, and maybe 5-10min bike ride to State Street. I will definitely be...
