Mason Beach Inn
Great location! It is quiet, spacious rooms with comfortable beds, close to restaurants, to the beach, free parking and it’s easy to find the hotel when you take the freeway exit.
We loved our room which overlooked the middle of the pool (room 206) and the best part was the windows open wide to allow a beautiful, cool ocean breeze to come through. If you prefer quiet and you do not like the sound of kids splashing in a pool, then I would not suggest this side. We did not mind hearing the fun but we did mind the high pitch sound of the hot tub when it’s turned on. It would be nice to put a sign up to remind guests to shut off the tub once they exit. They just get out and leave the tub running which generates the high pitched sound.
The housekeeping staff are friendly and the rooms are very clean.
The room offers a fridge filled with snacks and beverages (a mini-bar) with items reasonably priced. I would have much preferred to have a fridge I could use. We always travel with food as I have dietary issues, especially breakfast foods. Based on how many families were staying at the hotel, I'm sure I am not alone with that desire. A fridge in the lobby offering the same items would be a much better addition to the hotel. Luckily, I had a small collapsible cooler that I made daily trips to the ice machine to keep our items fresh.
The room offers a Keurig-style coffee machine located in a cupboard. I would have preferred it out on the counter and more accessible. It was inconvenient and cumbersome to take it out and it did not seem like there was a close outlet to plug it in to. Thankfully there was coffee in the lobby which is what I did every morning.
Yes, they do offer coffee and tea all day at the front desk and a couple of inexpensive granola bars in the morning. However, they only had coffeemate and the one morning they only had flavored, which my husband will not touch. It would be nice to offer real cream to guests and perhaps some fresh fruit in the morning.
The front desk was friendly enough when we arrived but offered no information about any of the amenities like, the bike rentals. I noticed the bikes outside and was excited at the thought of using them. However they are not complimentary; $10.00 per hour. I do understand a fee for a maintenance fund but we felt the charge was a little high as we were hoping to ride around town and include some stops, like lunch. We chose to just walk everywhere.
Overall, it’s a lovely hotel and we would stay here again. We live in Simi Valley so it’s nice to have a quick getaway to...

The hotel itself is stunning, but the rooms are even better! They're beautifully decorated, include several amenities (mini fridge, TV, hygiene products, mini-bar, coffee maker, microwave, wifi), and exceptionally they're clean. One of my favorite parts of the room is the blackout curtains. I hate light sneaking in while I'm trying to sleep. The blackout curtains will have the room pitch-black! That + the very comfortable bed = the best sleep of your life. My second favorite thing is the large spa-like shower.
The lobby has freshly baked cookies (chocolate chip, double chocolate chip, and macadamia nut) ALL day long. If you have children, this will be their favorite part of the hotel and always something to look forward to. They also provide fresh coffee and fruit. One of the other great things in the lobby is the staff! From the front desk, to house-keeping, to management everyone is very kind. They welcome you with a warm smile and make you feel at home.
This hotel is also perfect if you don't plan on renting a vehicle. The location is prime-time regarding walkability. All within walking distance you can find several restaurants (Chad's Cafe is my personal favorite), coffee, bars, and activities; the beach, Moxi museum (great for families), the pier, and shopping.
Mason Beach Inn always makes our trips memorable and very comfortable. This is always my family's go-to hotel while visiting. We look forward to it every time we visit. If I could give 100...
Read moreDO NOT GO THERE! FORGOT STUFF THERE AND THEY WERE TAKEN AWAY!
We stayed at this place and I can describe it as ok overall, the room was ok. They don't offer breakfasts and there is no time coutersey. We forgot a polo shirt, a male jacket and a female jacket inside the room's closed and they were not able to retrive them for us. We called on the same day after we realized we had forgotten our stuff and the girl who picked the phone was rather rude and wouldnt ler us explain what happened said was going to call the next day and didn't call. When we called back and spoke to the supervisor he basically said there was nothing they could do about it. Ps. We were going to paid to have them sent but they didn't find our stuff. We wouldn't waste time to create a problem or bother about jackets if we weren't sure we left them there, so if the room are cleaned right after a guest leaves it means that probably the staff went to clean and someone took the stuff. I am not saying who but I am saying that things don't walk or fly by themselves. I would not recommend anyone to stay there because if a problem happens the staff there are not friendly or willing to solve it for you basically they blame you for forgetting something there. Please if you ever go there don't dare to forget anything because they won't bother about it and will not even apologize. We forgot clothes imagine if it was something of real value. They simply don't care after you have paid for the staying. Very poor staff without knowledge of working with the...
