Don’t stay there !!! I have to say that in all my years of staying in hotels across the world I’ve never stayed in such a low standard room. Myself and my husband stayed in the twin room for 3 nights in January it was like staying in a homeless shelter. Stains on carpets and walls. Coffee stains on wardrobe door. Coffee machine was placed in the wardrobe which was on a high shelf , in order to fill the machine with water you had to stand on a chair. To close the window blind you also had to stand on a chair. I could go on and on with a list of the problems. I reached out to the hotel but their only answer was that the hotel was cheaper than other hotels in the area and that I should have realised that. They also said that we could check out and they wouldn’t charge me the cancellation cost. Unfortunately we were on a full day excursion boat trip so were unable to check out. The manager had attitude and was not in any way helpful. This room def needs updating. Even the reception as friendly as she was completely agreed with us and said she would have upgraded us but the hotel was full. I have complained to booking.com and they are hopefully looking into the matter....

Rooms are small, but clean and well kept up. Think European mom and pop hotel.
Access is weird. They are supposed to call you the morning of your stay to set an appointment to check in. After noon I finally called. They told me to call the number on the door and I'd be met. I did. A guy showed up and didn't greet us. I thought he was a hotel guest. Nope. He was there to check me in. Acted like I was bothering him.
Once checked in access was fine. Parking lot that the hotel will sell you a day pass to park in.
Room was, as I said, small, but nice. HOWEVER, I reserved a room with 2 queen beds. The beds were twin, not queen. Way too small for my liking.
The hotel was not full, but for some reason the unpleasant check in agent gave us a room facing the main street. Very noisy. Especially on trash pick up day.
There was a nice little outdoor nook on the second floor with three tables. Great for a quiet wine and cheese getaway from the busyness. Needs some attention though as many of the plants were dead and the decorations...
Read moreWe had two lovely nights in mid September in room 212. The view from this room is great, we could see water and the ferries. We arrived early and wanted to leave our luggage with the hotel since we had reservations at Muir Woods. A simple phone call to the number posted on the door brought a friendly gentleman over in very short time to let us in the lobby and stash our luggage until check-in time later in the afternoon. When we returned, Robin was at the front desk. What a delight! She gave us spot on advice for restaurants. Robin was at the desk Saturday and again on Sunday as we checked out. Each time she was friendly and so helpful. We parked in the public lot adjacent to the hotel and were happy with the safety of our car. We took the ferry over to San Francisco on Saturday and had a blast spending the day wandering around, but were glad to come back to the quiet haven of the hotel and our comfortable room. Hotel Sausalito has so much character. We felt safe and comfortable - and thanks to Robin we felt like valued customers. Would stay again if our wanderings...
