I stayed in the hotel during a work trip. My booking was originally for 3 weeks, but I left around 8 days in due to finding bed bugs in my bed. I originally accepted another room, but found dark bed bug spots on the mattress and sheets, so I requested to leave. My colleagues also complained of bites, and we found bed bug excrement in one of their rooms (it's dark specks that smear a rusty brown from blood). When I reinspected my original room, I noticed my bed had a bedbug cover on it. The other beds I'd seen did not. Additionally, I've read at least 3 other reviews mentioning bed bugs and I know there are more to come. This leads me to believe that this an ongoing issue in that room and the hotel in general. I declined the offer to heat treat my luggage, as this treatment obviously did not work the last time they did that in the room I was in. I will likely be requesting compensation for the suitcase and clothes I had to throw away to avoid taking bedbugs home.
The hotel in general was not very clean. There were stains on the sheets, blanket, and shower curtains. When house keeping came, they would make up the beds with the same sheets instead of replacing them with clean ones. My colleague requested her room be clean in person 3 seperate times and the staff neglected to do so. My room was tidied when I asked, so I wonder if there were any circumstances that caused staff to avoid cleaning her room. I noticed the floor of the pool looked like it could use a cleaning. The gym equipment was okay but the room was small and had literally no ventilation.
I originally felt the staff service was adequate, but a manager told one of my colleagues she would not compensate him the day we left due to the bugs. He did not find a bug (they are notoriously difficult to just find in the open,) but he had rows of bites. She told him in an email that I left to find an area with "more stuff to do", when I really left because I found bedbugs in my room and the bedbug evidence in the second room. I thought it was inappropriate to bring me up in conversations with him, not to mention make up false narratives.
Honestly, I'd rather camp then stay here again. It's not worth the loss of items and money to avoid infestation, or the anxiety and disgust that comes from finding pests in the space you are...
Read moreI give this a good rating but it’s rather a tricky review. I’m not sure that there’s anywhere else better to stay in Scottsboro Alabama. That is the only reason I give it five stars for location.I am here for work for one night and I do this every few years. The beds in this hotel are horribly uncomfortable. Hard and lumpy. It makes me think of Paris Hilton and the glamorous rich life she lives after we pay money to sleep on these god-awful mattresses. I am really sure I won’t have a good night sleep tonight on this damn mattress. And let me also mention a comforter that feels like a rough edged waffl. What in the hell is comfortable about that?Although the room is Decent and clean. The bathroom sink backs up while you’re brushing your teeth and running the water. I just saw a Tiny little ant crawling on this little thing that you might call a might stand but it’s a shelf with the phone on it and the lamp above. Concerns me for the two dollars I just paid for the M&M’s That I didn’t finish and just put them up on the dresser by the TV. The good thing about this day was the lady at the reception desk. Her name is Diane. She is an absolute gem! Hard to find in this mid chain Hotel industry. Like I said I have stayed here numerous times and the people they had here prior were worthless. Diane was sweet as can be and so helpful. And I didn’t even need much. Hilton, you need to recognize the type of person/employee she is and realize that that is the type of person you need. You need to acknowledge her and be grateful for her. Thank you Diane for You’re absolutely superb Customer Service! You are a gem! You are the only reason I give this five stars...
Read moreThe hotel was fine, and the staff/service was excellent. The breakfast buffet was superb, including delicious bacon, potato casserole, southern style biscuits and gravy, along with the usual breakfast items. Our only problem was figuring out how to get to the hotel once we arrived in Scottsboro. We could see it in the distance, by the Walmart. After much driving and circling around, we stopped and asked an employee at a nearby bank who advised that we follow the road to Home Depot and it would take us to the Hampton Inn. That didn't exactly work out either, so we asked an employee at Home Depot, who walked outside, and pointed out the little road we needed to be on. This time we saw a tiny Hampton Inn sign, car level, and low and behold, found the Hampton Inn at the end of the driveway. Our GPS had gotten confused and had pretty much given up on the address earlier. Next morning, we noticed an additional, small, difficult to read, Hampton Inn sign, underneath the Home Depot sign on Rt 72 Alternate. Hampton Inn could do better with the signage, directing folks off 72 to the hotel. The location was quiet and cozy and the bedding was comfy. We ordered Papa Johns Pizza once we got settled...
