Let me pre-empt my review by saying that I love Boden and shop both the catalogue and outlet - this review in no way reflects the staff or customer service that I have received through the Boden catalogue or at the outlet store. The ladies at Boden have always been professional and wonderful - one of the reasons that I used to love to shop at this store. The issue is the new location of this store that recently moved from Pittston to Scranton.
I don't live in the area, but grew up in NEPA and always hit Boden whenever I am in town to visit family - which is usually every two to three months. This new location in Scranton is AWFUL! It's nothing like the beautiful, spacious, and stocked-to-the-brim store that was once in Pittston. This store is LESS than 1/4th the size of the location in Pittston, with less than 1/4th of the merchandise that they used to carry. There are only two small racks of clothing in the center of the floor space - with very limited choices and sizes, with a table in front of the racks with sparse items that is swallowing up half of the floor space. The store's perimeter is lined with with some children's clothing, women's dresses, and folded tops. All extremely limited quantities because there is no room to display merchandise. Hardly any shoes. Only two people can shop comfortably at a time in the store. Oh - and the prices have increased (ex - coats used to be $50 and are now $75).
The space is more well suited for a small , shop trendy coffee shop / cafe - not a clothing store. I don't know what the thought process / decision making process was behind this, but I honestly don't think that the store in this new location is going to last. Be advised that as of 8/22/20, the photos and location that you see here are from their old location in Pittston (now closed) - they have not yet updated the information with the Scranton information nor photos of the new location.
Lots of people would travel hours and from out of state to shop here - this new location is absolutely not worth the drive nor the time. You will be better off checking the online catalogue frequently for their sales - much better selection.
Extremely disappointed - doubt that I will...
Read moreHours are wrong. Last time I went to the store like 2 years ago I had the worst experience. The woman who ran the store was unbelievably rude. Most likely because their website said they would open early if requested. Since we were traveling, I emailed them to do so. I didn't hear back for two weeks so cc'ed customer service. She finally responded and opened 30 minutes early but clearly under duress. It was very uncomfortable and she was disdainful and dismissive.
I decided to give the outlet another chance. Yes, it's much smaller. Yes, there's not a lot available. The store manager's explanation that they wanted to have more in season stuff....well, fine.
The store's hours are wrong. I dragged my family 30 minutes out of the way to go and the store isn't even open. I called boden and they confirmed the store's hours are wrong. They were super apologetic. If the store manager is the same, her utter disregard for caring at all about the people who love Boden and the people who shop here is evident in every detail. Presumably, she merely runs the store as an ego boost to her? And that she cant be bothered to have accurate hours on Google? She really was that unpleasant.
Oh and all the cute stuff in the window? That its not for sale. So confirmed, this store is more about appearances and that the store manager cares more about how the store looks than serving...
Read moreI’m convinced this place doesn’t even want to be open. The store in Pittston was amazing. So much space, so much variety, just a lovely experience. The store in Scranton is the exact opposite. Some shoe boxes are bigger than the current store. They only have dresses and not the current season like they used to. Don’t even think about trying to get something in kid’s sizes. It won’t be there or there will be a single tshirt. The hours on Google are wrong. I’ve tried to go many times when they are allegedly open, but they’re closed. You can’t even call them to confirm the hours and see if they’re open because they don’t have a phone. I don’t understand why the owner even bothered moving stores when it’s so clear she doesn’t want it to be...
