This Holiday Inn Express should get a higher rating from me but it is in need of a few things. This is a pet friendly, non-smoking hotel. We were traveling this part of the trip with my daughters small dog. The front desk assigned us a pet friendly room on the first floor. When we entered the room the smoke smell was so strong we could not stay. I asked the clerk at the front desk was this normal and she said she would be very happy to walk down with me to check the room. When we entered the room she walked in about 3 feet and said this was unacceptable and she would get me another room. Apparently the last guest had been smoking in the room and the cleaning staff had not reported it. The clerk assigned us a very nice room on the second floor overlooking the Colorado river. Great view. The room was well equipped and everything worked fine. The carpet in the room was nice however the carpet in the hallways is in need of replacing. The hallway carpet is worn out and starting to bunch up in lots of places. The sidewalks and front entry of the hotel are very dirty but that is because their appears to be several work trucks in the parking lot. I guess there were oil or natural gas workers staying here and there boots must have been muddy as there was a muddy boot cleaner at each entry. I never heard any of them nor did I ever see any. There seems to be a few complaints about the breakfast and I agree. The breakfast was so-so. The breakfast area is very large which was nice. The eggs was fair but not great. They had biscuits and gravy both mornings but the biscuits were hard as a rock. Someone else stated that there was no pancake maker and I did notice that it was still missing. The pool and workout area both appeared to be nice thou we did not use them. The front desk staff were ALL extremely nice and polite and always greeted us. I would stay here again if I was...
Read moreI'm thrilled to write this.....It was a grand trip in our Jeep Cherokee... My husbands 'favorite', right behind me. I'm pretty confident about that. We were road-weary , it's been 5 weeks now and were greeted by Brenda and Brenda to check us in. What a delight they are to talk with!! I asked about the name 'Silt', of the town...I've found you never know what you're gonna get back, but it was good! It started to get busy with the Memorial Day weekend approaching, so the Brenda's charmed the new arrivals as we found our room. It was an end room with a view of the Colorado River, very swollen from the rains they have been wanting. We later took a walk down closer to enjoy it with the sunset., and the patio. We love the firm, yet pillowtop beds of HiEx. It was our 11th stay in this chain in all the 13 states that we had traveled.
Room was clean, housekeep staff were friendly and greeted us as we saw them. I love that touch. They always get my tip, as I have done that job overseas and it is NOT easy , but if it is not done right...don't people feel they can grump and get crabby??? Then put your appreciation where you want it to encourage and reward! They care about how your stay is, too.
Then there was breakfast....one comment I have is that I don't care for those flip-over cheese things. The eggs are just the best if they don't run out. I'm guessing that can happen easily. But, a very odd thing happened with my breakfast, and I'll just let you wonder what it was, but the gentleman who oversaw our meal and Debbie, who was desk manager at the time., tended to me properly. Trish, hotel manager , personally called to follow-up very graciously after we arrived home. Thank you for that. We love Colorado and would love to stay...
Read moreWe had a balcony suite with a king bed. The room was much larger than we were expecting, which was nice! Unfortunately, we were on the ground level and weren't able to use the patio outside our room (no privacy, lots of people by our patio) which we were really hoping for. It was nice to face the river and see/hear the cows on the other side of the river. The room was clean and comfortable. Due to being on the ground level, the noise from people above us late at night did disrupt my sleep (my husband slept like a rock). They weren't noisy, just the typical noise that comes with being on the ground floor and I'm a light sleeper. The woman at the front desk, I believe her name was Debbie, was wonderful! So kind, welcoming and accommodating! We were there for the weekend to celebrate our anniversary and she made sure it felt like a special time for us. I appreciated her attentiveness! The food was about what you expect, nothing exciting, but filled our tummies just fine. We really liked that there were some healthier options (the egg white veggie omelettes were pretty tasty!). Overall, we were very pleased with our visit and would stay again. We only wish they could accommodate a larger family size. We have 4 kids and would love to visit but can't as there are no rooms large enough for a family of 6.
Lastly, this location was nice and central to enjoying activities in various towns. We were able to make a short drive to Rifle for restaurants and to Rifle Falls for hiking. We were also just a short drive away from hiking and restaurants in Glenwood Springs. Much more affordable to stay here than...
