My family liked it a lot. The room they stayed in was upscale with a canopy style bed, Queen size sofa for their third party, fine bedding, furniture, bath, etc. Service was prompt and helpful to guests and dining patrons. Lounge areas were roomy with lots of seating, a local artists work on the walls, fireplace, coffee and tea service station, books and more. They all thought the food was great. Their dinner entrees from "Soma Grille" within the lodging, included a sea scallop entree with roasted beets, leeks and sweet potato in a beurre blanc honey fennel sauce and two orders of the Harissa spiced pork chop. The asterisk by this dish meant this item could be cooked to preference, so one entree came as detailed on the menu, with peach chutney, purple potatoes and haricot verts (green beans), and the other came with no spice but a garlic and herb sauce. All were delicious. September is a beautiful month in New England, so many patrons chose to sit outside on the porch and enjoy the late summer evening air. The restaurant was busy all night, so inside tables were full, as well, and equally pleasing.

Beautiful hotel and lovely service! We had a king poster bed with a canopy. Cute ceilings and windows. A wonderfully robust air conditioner. A beautiful parlor room with breakfast in the morning, and nice coffee and tea all day. And an amazing staff that pretty much saved our wedding day and left a surprise wedding gift for us! My now wife and I were staying at a hotel nearby for our July wedding, and there were some AC problems the night before our big day! It was an agonizing 75 degrees and HUMID all night long. I booked a new hotel at 2:45am, a little further away at the Simsbury 1820 house. I also left a voicemail with them explaining the situation, and our room was ready for us by noon! My wife and I were able to check in and get one of the most necessary naps of our lives. We went off to get married that evening so thankful for the nap we had and knowing that we’d come back to a BEAUTIFUL hotel room. Thank you so much Simsbury 1820 House! Glen and the Irish lady who’s name escapes me. You saved us.

Overall this was a lovely spot to stay. Great location and very quiet. We stayed in the queen room and it was comfortable. We had drinks at the bar and they were ok. Not a huge selection but drinks were still good. Only issues was on our last morning. We packed up and went out to breakfast, rooms service assumed we had checked out when we hadn’t and went ahead and took to cleaning and emptying our room. Kind of annoying only because we had a later flight and we were wanting to rest a little before check out. Not a huge deal but that was the only issue. Other than that we would definitely stay here again.

The Simsbury 1820 House is a charming inn located right on the main thoroughfare of Simsbury, CT, a lovely, historic town. The inn location made it very convenient for our family and members of the bridal party to stay here for an August 2024 wedding. Set up and back on the lovely property, the inn even was very quiet for all our activities, including a rehearsal dinner and day-after-wedding brunch in the fabulous Soma Grille, which has a location right inside the inn! The inn is part of a three-property business, and there is a terrific event coordinator for the trio of inns who helps in making everything happen if you are planning a special event. The 1820 House worked just right for some of our family wedding events and accommodations, and we are so glad that it did! Each member of the staff was incredibly gracious, friendly, and helpful. We loved being greeted each time we left and returned because of wedding-related activities. Having coffee/tea. etc and some light breakfast foods in the parlor was so convenient and relaxing. The outdoor porch was a great place to "hang' before, in between, and after wedding festivities. Our rooms were very comfortable and, like the rest of the inn, have a terrific historic feel. We must get ourselves one of those stunning floor-to-ceiling mirrors! We can't wait to return! Do consider staying at the Simsbury 1820 House, and let couples, their families, and their friends know this could be a wonderful setting for their wedding and/or wedding-related events! It's a wonderful place to stay for ANY...

I checked in 5/22/2023 at 9:40pm. I arrived late. I travel to location to location for a livinig. I called ahead to let the front desk know I would be arriving late. I also called to make sure my company had advised 1)I am handicapped I walk with a cane and 2) I am allergic to animal dander, so the pet friendly rooms need to be segregated from the others. The pet friendly rooms were in fact segregated but this is NOT a handicap friendly hotel. The handicapped entrance was not visible at night. They did provide me with a shower chair (A+ for that) but it had to be jammed into the average size bath tub. It was stable in the tub, but it was not safe. They do have rooms that have walk in showers, but not on the 1st floor. There is no elevator. There were no grab bars ANYWHERE in the bathroom. The bed was atleast a full 2ft . off the floor. Had it not been so late at night I would have called my company and told them I needed a new hotel. I prefer the Simsbury Inn and usually stay there when working in CT. I requrested a 4:30 wake up call. I did not get it. Fortunatly I learned YEARS ago you can no longer count on hotels ACTUALLY providing this service to for you. When checking out I made it known that I did not get my wake up call. The gentlemen at the front desk then told me it was a new system (weeks or a month old) so it was probably a failure in the new system. I don't know why that was a good answer. Overall, not a good hotel for anyone who is handicapped or travel...

I don’t usually post reviews on Google but I wanted to share what a great experience we had here for Valentines Day Weekend. I’ll we had a King size room on the third floor which was really more like a suite, very spacious room. Everything in the room was to character as advertised, it has a very old fashioned vintage style, while being renovated in the places it needs to be (like the bathroom). Also, there’s a pretty impressive huge vintage mirror in the room that I wasn’t expecting but was a great touch. I haven’t seen how the other rooms look but I can tell you that the King size room on the third floor is a good bet. I got the Valentines Day package which included champagne and chocolates. I wanted to add some flowers to that so I arranged a delivery the day before and the staff was great about being in touch with me to have the flowers set up in the room on time. On the main floor, you have a room with a fireplace and coffee/tea available. This is also where you’d pick up your continental breakfast which included bagels, danishes, cold cereal, etc. Overall it was really great experience and I’d definitely come back a second time. Also I should mention that the room rate was very reasonable, so you feel like you’re getting your...
