I'm definitely a huge fan of Plan B restaurants! There are 7 locations. This one in Simsbury is located in an old train station. If you know me, you know I love history and architecture; well, this is located in a historic building, love when they reclaim a building. There is a first floor and a basement. We dined in on the first floor. There was plenty of parking around the building. They have trivia night every Tuesday and karaoke the second Thursday every month. Our server was very friendly and attentive. We placed our food order in and he put in our toddler's meal through first (without our request) and brought it out before our food; that was very thoughtful and observant, since our son was hungry. My son had the chicken tenders and fries. I had the B Berry drink in their Glastonbury location and loved it so I had to get it again. It is a house-made blueberry infused Deep Eddy Vodka. I also had a prickly pear margarita which was decent and sour; it has El Charro Tequila, orange liqueur, house made sour mix, and prickly pear syrup. I definitely liked the B Berry drink better. This time around I got the El Diablo smash burger; this came with two smash patties, pepper jack cheese, shaved lettuce, jalapenos, chipotle ranch, and pic de Gallo, that was bomb diggity. It also comes with a side which I opted for tater tots (my favorite). The food and drinks came out at a good timeframe. My family and I enjoyed our dining experience; the food, service, and drinks were good. We look forward to going back!

I wanted to like this restaurant more than I did, and I am willing to give it a second chance. It makes a great first impression: with the historic building, the classy interior, and the great pickles on the table (instead of bread or pretzels). But we were there on a very hot day and the AC was anemic, and my fiancee and I were soon sweating from the heat and humidity. Plus our corner of the restaurant was full of large flies that we were constantly waving away while trying to eat. As for the food itself, I was hoping to have a great burger, but it was just ok (I got the Blue Cheese Burger). My fiancee got the "3 Shrooms" burger and was very happy with it, but mine did not live up to the standard set by the decor or the pickles. I'd be willing to try again on a cooler day (hopefully with fewer flies), but I'm not exactly in a rush. The staff were perfectly friendly, but it was a slow Thursday afternoon so they didn't stand out one way or the other.

This is the quintessential burger spot when u dream up a destination for connoisseurs to sit back n enjoy a bite. The burger, beer, and bourbon list are extensive to the point of barely being over whelming! But I digress...the menu covers everything from multiple types of buns....all the way down to the types of fries one wants. This place is a mecca...small low lit and industrial in feel....very contemporary gastro-pub vibe which fits the food perfectly...come slightly off peak hours or expect a long wait(still worth waiting....the burgers are that good). U get a fantastically cooked patty(ordered a classic tavern onna croissant bun with all the fixings) perfectly placed on a plate that has you devouring the thing in seconds (hint: skip the sirracha on the fries, a bit too salty) but everything is done really well and the burgers are juicy and amazing. You won't be disappointed!

Mica or Mika - not sure was a delightful server - she came right over - super friendly - took our drink orders - me and my wife each ordered a Sam Adams Octoberfest - they came out quick - as flat though as a tortilla run over by a fire truck - no foam - not even a trace - tasted like an open beer left for 3 days in the refrigerator- I didn’t want to complain because I didn’t want Mika to have to go back and forth trying to get us fresh beers - the two burgers were great btw - Service was perfect - Mika came over 2 or 3 times asked if we were ok-if we needed anything else etc - I didn’t want to complain about the beers until the bill came and she asked how everything was - I said everything was great except the beers were horribly flat - but we drank them anyway as they were cold and we were thirsty - so she apologized and then came back and said - yeah you’re right the bartender said it was the bottom of the keg - Mika asked “would you like to see if I can at least take one off the bill because of the quality? - I said - I’d rather have one fresh beer of your choosing to split with my wife - she said - oh sure that could work - 2 minutes later she comes back and says - the bartender says no can do - no free one and No taking one off the bill cause I drank them. - now I may be a little old - but I’m thinking this is not how you run a restaurant if you want repeat customers - I mean I’m kinda thinking one free beer for 2 bad beers that I’m paying for would be a fair kind of customer service right thing to do - and btw I am a repeat customer and have been for years - but sorry to say you’re bartender has unfortunately turned me off to ever coming back - so for a 6 dollar beer - which costs you a dollar - I won’t be spending my usual 500 - 600 dollars this year and I’ll be sure to steer my friends and family away from your petty establishments- we do have choices - and Max Burger is not so far down the road - so sad to say it’s good riddance and way to go for putting such a very sweet server in an awkward position...

Review of Plan B Restaurant, Simsbury

Nestled in the heart of Simsbury, Plan B Restaurant presents a promising culinary experience that tantalizes the taste buds, yet a few unexpected quirks might leave diners scratching their heads—or noses.

From the moment you walk in, the vibrant atmosphere suggests a lively dining experience. The menu, a celebration of burgers, beer, and bourbon, is a testament to American comfort food, and it certainly delivers in terms of flavor. I must highlight the smash burgers, which are nothing short of a revelation. Juicy and perfectly seasoned, they strike that coveted balance between crispy exterior and tender, flavorful interior. Each bite is a celebration of savory goodness that makes it clear why they boast a loyal following.

Equally impressive were the Buffalo shrimp, which danced on the palate with a perfect blend of spice and crunch. The shrimp were plump and succulent, coated in a sauce that had just the right amount of heat—definitely a dish worth ordering.

However, amidst the culinary triumphs, an unfortunate hiccup marred our experience: the rather off-putting smell emanating from the basement. It was a distraction that lingered in the air, overshadowing the otherwise delightful meal. While I understand that a bustling restaurant may occasionally encounter such issues, it’s something that detracted from the overall enjoyment of the food.

In conclusion, Plan B Restaurant has the makings of a fantastic dining destination. With mouthwatering dishes that deserve applause, it’s a shame that an unwelcome scent could overshadow the experience. If they can address this issue, I have no doubt that this gem in Simsbury will shine even brighter. Until then, I’d recommend visiting for the food—just be prepared for a less-than-pleasant...

Disappointing. While I do allow for the fact that it was a busy Saturday night, our experience here was less than acceptable. We had to wait about 20 minutes for a table which was fine since we arrived right around 6 pm -- no complaints there. When we were shown to a table downstairs, it was nice and the server greeted us promptly. It went downhill from there. We ordered some wings for an appetizer -- half order "insane" and half order "garlic crusted parmesan." Insane turned out to be more like average buffalo wings you get anywhere, and the garlic crusted were low on garlic, high on crusted. When they were brought to us, we realized we had no setups -- I waited about 5 minutes for the server to return, then just got up and stole them from another table nearby. (Good thing I did as the server did not return for another 15 minutes.) Then came the long winter of our discontent. We sat and waited 45 minutes for our mains -- which were just burgers and fries. A nearby young couple with two toddler children were at their wits' end as they had been seated well before we arrived, and only received their meals about 5 minutes before we did. You can imagine the difficulty they were having controlling the toddlers. I can say that my burger was VERY GOOD. Fries were just average. But nothing can justify waiting 45 minutes after an appetizer to receive three burgers. Our server was very apologetic throughout although we said nothing to him -- it was obviously not his fault. All in all an unpleasant experience and certainly not...
