First, i just want to say the ice cream is amazing. They have lots of unique flavors and combinations, including those with Rose, lavender and blood orange. We got three different flavors for our group to share, and all were creamy and delicious. We were at a show at Eno Hall and ran over during our 15 minute intermission to get some ice cream to take back with us for the second half of the show. When we got there, there was no line and we wanted to see the flavors, so we went right up to the ice cream showcases. There was no sign saying which way to go or what to do first. There were four people working behind the counter— Three teenagers and an adult. None of them asked if they could help us. Someone else came in and went to the register and One of the girls immediately helped that person, So I asked another girl if she was free to help us and she said she was. She got my husband’s ice cream and put it near the register, and then started getting our other two orders. Meanwhile, the cashier knocked the first ice cream off onto the floor. The older woman picked it up and threw it out, but didn’t try to replace it. It became apparent that only one person is allowed to wait on a customer, It took our entire intermission time to get our order, and we got back just in time for the show to start again. I definitely recommend them for their ice cream, whoever makes that does a phenomenal job. However, you may need to speak up and ask to be waited on. Telling them you’re limited for time doesn’t help at all either. We’ll go back there again when we go to the next show, but we’ll just do it a little bit...
Read moreGrassroots Ice Cream & Street Food has three locations; they're in Granby, Simsbury, and New Milford. They serve over 100 flavors of ice cream and new England style street food. There are wraps, salads, and tacos. They offer unique flavors that pulls in foodies like me. For example, honey lavender and goat cheese blackberry to name a couple. These ice creams are created in small batches at the Granby location.
This location in Simsbury is perfect. There were plenty of parking in the lot in the back. The shop was large, bright, spacious, and with plenty of seating. I've been wanting to check them out and stopped in recently because Jason P. inspired me.
I had to try out their goat cheese blackberry ice cream. I opted for two scoops and the friendly employee suggested the blueberry marscapone, since it was a great pairing. It was a match made in heaven! The flavors intermingled and the fruit and cheesy flavors paired well. The ice cream was creamy and you can tell it was made with love. My son had the chocolate ice cream and he loved it. 5 stars for the ice cream; can't wait to go back to try out their...
Read moreWe discovered Grassroots for the first time this year at a couple food truck parks, so we decided to go visit one of their actual storefronts. I’m so glad that we did, because we discovered they have an awesome menu of street eats in addition to their variety of unique ice cream flavors! We started with lunch and enjoyed the Asian chicken tacos, Greek rice bowl, and fried chicken. Everything was super tasty! Then we went over to the ice cream side of the building, where I was so happy to see they offered flights because it was hard to pick just one of their flavors! I had never seen black chocolate before, and I ended up enjoying that one the most with raspberry and white chocolate chips. I love that instead of using chocolate chips, they use massive chocolate chunks in the ice cream - my husband had blood orange chip, and it was incredible! It reminded us of the chocolate oranges you get at Christmas. Everyone working there was extremely pleasant and helpful, and both sides of the restaurant were very clean. We will absolutely be...
