Stayed at the Hamlet Inn for one night on a week day. This is a very cute, very well-kept, Inn. The simplicity of the rooms make it hard for a place to hide cleanliness and this place was very nicely clean. The room was very reasonably priced. It came equipped with a TV, small fridge, a coffee maker, 2 bottles of water and coffee items, a small closet, 2 suitcase holders and a hairdryer in the bathroom. All good things.
I can't speak much about service as there really isn't any - they don't clean your rooms if you stay longer than the night - without you contacting them to make arrangements. There is nobody at the front desk as there is contactless check-in (basically, they email you a code to get into your room after check-in time). We didn't see any employees. This may be great for some people, but we don't mind seeing faces and having some hospitality. No stars taken off for that. I will say it was convenient not to have a key.
I have 2 gripes about the room. One, for ME, the bed was too hard. I'm a side sleeper, and my side kept hurting and/or falling asleep through the night. My travel partner is a stomach/back sleeper, so he was fine. HOWEVER, it was cold and this necessitated running the heater which is an in-wall unit that made the most god awful, and loud sounds every time it turned on and off (which was at least every 20 minutes) and was not at all quiet while running. Neither of us slept well for one or both of these reasons. So because of those 2 things, I took off a star each as sleeping is #1 priority when traveling and having a room.
This isn't really a bad review - it was a neat Inn, but I may not stay here next time due to the...
Read moreMy daughters and I had a girls weekend in Solvang. Our first time here, love it! Hamlett Inn was where we landed. This Inn is cute. It is very minimal, rooms were cute and equipped with small frig and hot water pot. There was no refrigerator, so we couldn't heat our left overs. We did have an issue with shower, there is no pressure. So if you wanted hot water it was a trickle, if you can stand a luke warm shower or a cold shower then the pressure was great. The their credit, the management staff was easily contacted and resolve the issue quickly.. we were moved to another room as the issue couldn't be resolved that day. We appreciated that. We did contact the management staff about a microwave and they did offer the one they had in their office. We had already eaten out by that time but really appreciated the offer. The rooms were clean and decorated very minimal we loved the flag on the wall and bed. Walls are a bit thin, thankfully no partiers this weekend. The location is wonderful, we walked all over Solvang and easily made our way back to the Inn. We have planned on taking bikes but didn't get around to it. They are there to use free of charge. All 3 of us agreed the contactless check in and out was fantastic. We stayed a holiday weekend so the price was a bit high for what was offered, I see that rooms rent for less then what we got for price. I would stay again if the price was lower. Next time we will check more closely on...
Read moreThis was our first time staying at the Hamlet Inn. We booked a King Bed using our Wells Fargo Rewards points, which uses Booking.com. |We called to see if we could check in early. The person on duty said yes, and the door code had been texted to us. No, it hadn't. We arrived at the property and found out the door code was texted to the Booking.com number, not our phone number, which was on the reservation. |We were given Room #4, which faces the main road through town. It was the noisiest room I've stayed in in the Santa Ynez Valley. You could hear EVERY SINGLE CAR GO BY and EVERY PERSON who was talking when they walked by our window. I might have well just set up a tent in the park down the street. (I used earplugs to try to cut down the noise, but it didn't help much. The sound went right through the single-pane windows.)|It turns out that if you book a room on the Hamlet Inn website, you can select your room, but using Booking.com doesn't give you that option, so you are relegated to the worst rooms. (As a rule, we don't use Booking.com or similar sites, but we wanted to use our credit on this trip.)|We had to turn off the room air-conditioner because the bright 'On' indicator shone straight down onto the bed. On the plus side, I only had to kill one ant in the bathroom.|The only reason this isn't a one-star review is that we were able to check in a half hour early, and the bed was comfortable, even if I didn't...
