Good Seed Coffee Boutique — Restaurant in Solvang

It's pretty good, maybe better than most other coffee places in Solvang area, but not great.

Coffee: Their cappucino is really nice. It's not the best in the world, but it's waaaay better than Starbucks. I would give it a 7/10, so good coffee is the main reason to go here.

Pastry: Nothing truly unique. Pretty average variety of cookies and pastry. The quality is good tho. 7/10.

Service: Nice positive people. Solid service. Nothing that I particularly remember. 8/10.

Interior and design: Hmmm... mixed feelings. It's def trying to look nice, but then you take a closer look it's confusing. Eclectic design is a little bit of everything. They have many rustic wooden surfaces, like you are in a log cabin, and they are mixed together with industrial looking metal table legs made of crankshafts and rotors. At the same time, wavy surfing photos on the wall. What does this even mean? Meh... The place is too empty inside, meaning too much empty space and not enough furniture. Their bizzare looking "designer" rocky chairs are uncomfortable. Interior overall: 5/10.

Extra points: On the bright side, they serve coffee into nice ceramic cups, which is a big...

While out on a walk this morning, we stopped in to get a latte. After waiting for 5+ minutes standing at the front counter, not one of the 4 staff members behind the counter ever acknowledged us or the others in line behind us.

All 4 of them were working as it was busier to be fair, AND YET there is ZERO excuse for not one of them pausing to even look our way or acknowledge that we all were patiently waiting to spend money in their business. All that needed to be done was any one of the 4 employees to briefly pause in what they were doing to say anything to us, but when none of them can have the decency to say anything while continuing to walk around behind the counter as we stood there, that is completely unacceptable!!!!

We finally walked out, and decided that a local business that wants to offer such poor service to customers does not deserve our money. We certainly won’t be able to recommend this place to anyone we know or run across, because of this lack of customer service.

Good Seed Coffee...

I'm not sure why it's difficult for people to make a good lavender latte -- some people put so much syrup that it kills the flavor and others put almost none that I can't even tell that the latte is supposed to have any flavor other than coffee. Good Seed Coffee does not have this problem because their lavender latte was one of the best I have ever had (and I drink more lattes than I'd like to admit). Other than mastering the craft of making the perfect drink, the atmosphere of this coffee shop was quiet, friendly and very much about community. I stopped by on a roadtrip from LA to Big Sur and was so impressed that even though it's out of my way on the way back, I'm going to make sure to add it to my route. The staff was friendly, they had the best coffee in Solvang, and they even had gluten free and dairy free pastry options for those of us with dietary restrictions.
