We just stayed at Inverness…4 adults and one child…in a 3BR 2B. I had severe reservations because of the bad reviews. I do believe we had one of the few condos that had been recently renovated. Great beds, clean, no bugs, thick towels, and a wonderful wrap around balcony, and both elevators working. |Now for the reasons we would probably not stay there again. We rented thru South Padre Rentals and they were very cordial and helpful (unlike most of the employees at Inverness). We were handed a key phob and told we had to have that to enter and LEAVE the pool, to enter and LEAVE the beach (although there is public access at end of building), and to enter the first floor parking. Here is the kicker, YOU ONLY RECEIVE 1 NO MATTER HOW MANY ADULTS ARE IN YOUR ROOM. This means if some of you want to go to the pool and some to the beach you have to decide who keeps the phob and unless you are lucky and go in and out where there is someone else going in and out, someone from your condo has to come let you in. It is absolutely nuts that every adult does not receive one. Last item…you either have to wash your own towels in their pay machines OR take them for exchange to the rental company which is down the street (don’t forget the key phob! ). We washed a load of towels in their pay machine and someone stole them out of the dryer! Rental company was nice and told us to come pick up more....

Disclaimer: While I do pay "maintenance"fees for my week, I've been coming here since I was a child, as my grandfather was an original investor in this place back when it was run by people who gave a shit.

That being said, if i didn't inherit that week share from him, I would never come back here again and save my "maintenance" fees for a week in a Motel 6. At least the pool might be in service.

6/8-6/14 2025: Oh, surprise surprise, the pool is closed "for maintenance" all week again! There's a sign that says maintenance is working on it, but the water is dark green. Liars.

Elevator got a new interior this year, but is still shakey, slow, scary, and stinks like ass crack.

The rooms have new chairs and Pier One clearance knickknacks all over. Glad thats what my fees are being thrown at.🙄

The appliances and faucets are still rusty, the tiles are still cracked, the paint is still bubbling and chipping everywhere, and the shower hardware is falling apart.

Literally the only thing Inverness has had going for it since the Clinton administration is that it happens to be on the beach and the water pressure is great. Without those two aspects, this shithole would have been knocked down and replaced by an actual...

Stayed for 2 nights close to 400 a night for 2 room 2 bathroom. Photos overlook the many things wrong with the condo. Towel holder fell off the wall as I tried taking a towel off, only gave 1 bar of soap called deodorizing soap no shampoo, didnt feel good for the skin especially not the hair, elevator wouldn't work when my family and I had all our luggage. Only good thing was the view but not worth almost 400 dollars for less than basic amenities. Office was closed around 8 or 9, in the binder stating all the hotels policies, one page is dedicated on how to clean up your place before you leave so u don't get charged 150 for cleaning fees with things like taking out your own trash to a shoot out across the hallway, taking sheets off the bed yourself and towels used putting it in the hallways. It's understandable to have expectations and policies but to this extent where you can be charged for not doing chores after paying almost 400 a night is a little crazy. Aside from those policies you can also be charged 150 every hour your late for checkout at 10 which sounds normal but to someone who's not a morning person it means waking up early getting chores done packing done and making sure to be out by 10 to...

The facility is right on the beach with large balconies facing the water and more water-facing windows than many other places. If you just want to "sit on the beach", you can do it right from your balcony. There is good security and covered parking. The secure, exterior aisles were kept clean. However, at least one of the condos, #304, is subject to design flaws in the building. There is a bright, unneeded, security light shining directly into the bedroom window across the aisle. Additionally, external a/c units are clustered in a closet across the aisle and require a giant fan to run 24/7 to keep the units from overheating. This is also across the aisle from the bedroom window. It sounds like a jet boat all night. If you stay in a room without these issues, it's a good facility.

Why a 5? Not for luxury or large rooms - but for flexibility, available units and improvements. All the security gates working now, building and grounds are clean, both elevators operating- and Wendy is still the front desk anchor. We only come when everyone else is working- still warm, no crowds and locals are less frazzled. Love SPI when there are no crowds anywhere. Fun trip to spaceport, bird sanctuary, turtle rescue, a dolphin cruise, north beach for shells, and as always a trip to wanna-wanna, mahi nicks, and twice to Joe’s oyster bar for real local fish and a Pacifico. No watch, no assignments, and plenty of time to meditate upon a merciful and compassionate Creator Jehovah.

I love this hotel for the view!!!! The rooms are spacious. It had everything we needed to cook our meals. I like that the masters bedroom had a huge bathtub. Two televisions, one in the living room and the other in the master bedroom. Just wish the second bedroom had a TV as well. The adult hot tub was huge and the water was perfect. The swimming pool was spacious enough for a small amount of people. The balcony is huge. It has a small table plus six chairs. The building is old but overall a wonderful and relaxing experience. We stayed here on Memorial weekend and now for Labor Day weekend. Definitely coming back!!!
